  1. can't understand why resources are devoted to such monstrocities, when a Sinn 656 rep is in such great demand
  2. ugly
  3. happy birthdya
  4. Yup, my buddy has the original, we cracked it open one day and the rotor is solid.
  5. I've always found the Seawolf to be the closest to the gen.
  6. Tell me about it...also draws unnecessary attention to our little hobby here.
  7. actually, 4-watch winders are readily available for about $50 on the Bay, including shipping.
  8. Please excuse a newbie question...but what mods to a Sub can you order from Joshua? I am intrigued by his "new case" subs, but don't know how it compares/contrasts with the more common variants?
  9. There is a regular meeting of genuine Paneristas here in Vancouver... I've been told that one or two rep fans have shown up in the past, and obviously attracted some less than friendly comments. THeir own stupidity for trying to pass off a fake in front of a bunch of pseudo-experts.
  10. You cannot overwind an automatic, as it has a clutch which allows for slippage once the movement is fully wound. Basically, an automatic movement is a regular hand-wind mechanical movement, with the addition of a rotor for "auto-winding" and a clutch to prevent over-winding. In most cases, hand winding an automatic would not damage it....However, if you continue to wind after the mainspring is already fully compressed, it will put unnecessary wear and tear on the slippage clutch...which may result in premature wear...but this would require ALOT of overwinding.
  11. doesn't ofrei.com carry both of these parts?
  12. absolutely incredible!
  13. My Franck Muller Conquistador... which I wore today into an authorized Breitling dealer... the sales lady was so impressed that i was wearing it (she didn't ask, I didn't volunteer that it was a rep) that I got a beautiful Breitling catalogue... Which includes a nice picture of my next watch, a Super Avenger...
  14. Hi guys, Joshua has just listed a new variant of the Tank model... I am not overly familiar with these, but from a lay person's observations, the only "flaws" i could see are that the printing on the textured dial is not of very good quality, and the blue stone on the crown is not that great... Otherwise, the engraving on the back, the size of the case, and the movement itself all seem to be spot on? What do you experts think? http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=5767
  15. My condolenses... I gather that you were not close, as I don't think what watch to wear should be at the forefront of your mind if there was a death in the family... Having said that, something understated would be approrpriate, maybe a vintage Explorer 1 if you have one?
  16. True to a certain extent...but I think I would have more difficulties justifying spending $4000 on a genuine item, when you consider that the quality is not THAT much better, and in many case, almost on par with the rep w/ at least 90% of the parts. There is a replica industry because genuine manufacturers over-inflate their prices.
  17. My sympathies....
  18. Also, this model has one of the most well-made display casebacks... with the very well done "serial numbering" on the perimeter.
  19. Great pictures! As with almost all of the 44mm Chinese PAM models, this one suffers from two flaws (in addition to the obvious difference in the movement, of course): 1) the word "Luminor" is too wide on the dial, with the "L" extending past the inner tip of the 11 o'clock marker (the earlier dials were actually better, with the text at the right width); 2) the crown guard pin is too big, when viewed from the front, with the hole being too large. Otherwise, this is a heck of a deal at $110! Enjoy your watch!
  20. At the advice of several members on this forum, I recently placed an order with King, and submitted payment last week. However, since that time, I have not heard from her, despite several emails inquiring as to whether the item has been sent? Has anyone heard from King since May 17th, 2006? Does she normally take longer to reply? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
