  1. I echo Andy in saying that the Railmaster (I can send you pics of mine if you want) from Trusty is damn near perfect. I'll probably send mine to Vac for a SuperLume and it will be nearly identical to a gen! Great watch, they're on Trusty's site ( I have the one with the brown croc. band)

PM me if you need any other info!

  2. Hello all!

Hope everyone had a festive holiday season!

I've got a question: I'm looking for an accurate, simple, Omega SMP. Trouble is, some of our trusted dealers don't seem to have the generic SMP that I've come to know and love (and just HAVE to have). I have found, however, another site that doesn't seem to be on any scam lists on RWG and the Q & A section seems suspiciously like Trusty's.

I haven't really had an issue with Trusty so assuming no one thinks this is a terrible rep, I'll probably pull the trigger on it.

If, of course, anyone has an SMP they would like to sell to me, I'd be more than happy to look into it!

Also, if anyone sees any glaring issues with the watch in the link below, please let lil ole' noob me know!

    Thanks in advance!! :)

  3. Interesting subject and one that will have the most lasting effect on the replica industry.

Personally, I feel that, as others have said, consumerism has played a huge role in the amount of luxury goods that are replicated. I do not, however, think that this will negatively affect the value of gens sold. Corgi used the example of Louis Vuitton purses. While it is true that many are replicas, most people KNOW that many of these purses are replicas. In fact, there are parties where people get together, socialize, and exchange/sell replica Vuitton purses! As such, I feel that pushes gen luxury items to new heights and, in my opinion, even higher values. In the 70's and 80's, Rolex, Omega, etc. were recognizable however nowhere near as recognizable and scrutinized as they are today. The latest James Bond movie, for example, was one of (if not the) highest grossing Bond movies ever. The Planet Ocean is given loads of screen time and while this is not the only reason the Planet Ocean is sought after, the movie made people outside of the watch world aware that "that's the Bond watch!".

With the media saturation we have become accustomed to, there are hundreds of watch/luxury item advertisements and product placements that have become sought after (and, of course, replicated). As such, I feel that as media saturation and bombardment will only cause Gens to be even more coveted than replicas and even elevated the status of Gens.

  4. Welcome to RWG! I hope you'll find it as informative and exciting as I have in the few short months I've been a member!!

Beautiful watch! I was able to examine a ladies VC and was fascinated by the beauty and precision with which each instrument has been carefully, almost lovingly, created. That's a tough quality to instill in a rep, but this sure comes close! Wear it well!!

  5. Hello all,

I just got into the rep scene about a year ago and I haven't really posted much on this forum simply because I felt overwhelmed by the breadth of knowledge many members seemed to have.

At first, it was difficult to figure out types of watches, let alone the good ones. Many of us, I'm sure, were in similar situations when we first started and we still must keep up with the current fashions and changes in horology in order to be a viable forum. Through careful research, luck, and lots of trial and error, many of us (including myself) have built up a fairly impressive collection of replica watches.

While this is all well and good, what distinguishes one replica watch from another is the care which is taken to pay homage to the genuine article and the care of the watch in general.

From The Zigmeister's avatar and words, I'm guessing he's a pilot/works in aviation and, as such, must have a steady hand, rational mind, and above all, a passion for what he does. His passion has been translated into some of the best how-to's and advice on watchmaking and servicing that I've ever read.

We must remember that those with genuine passion are generally some of the most charismatic and caring people on the planet, and it stands to reason that they feel that anything less than perfection is failure or an insult to their art. As such, it is natural that one who cares so much for his art would feel discouraged and possibly insulted by other members' words of encouragement encroaching upon his duty to be the best at his art.

While The Zigmeister's letter saddens me, the overarching principles of said letter frighten me even more: Are we slipping in terms of quality? Will there be enough information to help prevent newcomers and veterans alike from being scammed by dishonest dealers and the seemingly exponential decrease in quality control?

These questions are not mine to answer, they are the responsibility of every member on this forum. As members have mentioned in above comments, it is time for people to evaluate their roles and their contributions and really ask themselves if they are contributing to RWG as informative, collaborative members, or if they are simply looking for a scam.

I can only hope that we continue to see informative and insightful tutorials from forum members such as The Zigmeister, however I hope that this letter serves to motivate and inspire other enthusiasts to step up to the plate and really think about this not as a forum but (as corny as it may seem) as a family and a community.

I hope that RWG moves into 2008 with a clear sense of purpose and community and I also hope that those with so much passion for perfection in replicas can translate and apply that passion in the same way that The Zigmeister has. If that occurs, I have no doubt in my mind that RWG will continue to flourish and be the premier replica watch site.
