  1. Agreed...shouldn't be too tough at all for a competent watchmaker but I wouldn't advise trying to fix the keyless works yourself. Trust me. I got it done on an older Rado I purchased and it took me a 3 days 1-2 hours per day of swearing, throwing things, and drinking gin to steady my hands... def. find a competent watchmaker to fix this!!
  2. Bingo. Agreed...look at what happened to manufacturing in this country! Companies are already finding it more profitable to conduct business in India or China or the Middle East or offshore islands due to the tax advantages and low wage/ high intellect/skillset of many potential employees... stuff like SO sounds great to the average American and makes sense from an ethical point of view but at the end of the day if you choke a business with taxes and rules to the point where they need to file 33 forms in triplicate to order a pencil.... the camel's back breaks and these corporations, much like lightening, seek the point of least resistance.
  3. Is that case gold?
  4. Good info...thanks man!
  5. I say pick it up pending ref. numbers.
  6. Ah I see...can't wait to see the finished project!!
  7. If you use a donor watch you might have the movement issue solved... if not, you can get a new ETA from Ofrei I believe or ask one of the collectors to source the Asian ETA... Not sure if you need some sort of spacer for the movement (most likely) and maybe someone like Tribal or The Zigmeister can comment on this aspect...

  9. Congrats on it though!
  10. How dare you sir!

  11. Nice looking watch either way... $850 is a steal...that's less than many Tudors with ETA movements.
  12. Agreed... I guess it's because where I'm from (Northeast CONUS) most of the people with money have "Old Money." I grew up learning that a gentleman doesn't discuss his wealth or make ridiculous displays in order to be accepted... some of my family members and neighbors growing up drove nice cars, wore beautiful watches and lived in amazing homes...however the cars weren't always super "in your face" (on particular neighbor drove a 1980s XJ and an E class for a number of years due to the "reserved" styling vs some of the BMW's/ Japanese Imports of the time (1990's) )... Country club talk was always about the external, not the internal. Houses were set far back in the New England woods and gated so as to keep unwanted visitors out and privacy in... Watches were SS Datejusts, Calatravas... You'd pass these guys on the street and have no idea they were worth millions...and they liked it that way. Sad to see people gloating about their wealth on a message board.. you'd think having a ski resort shut down would be enough of an announcement of wealth!!!
  13. Crap I'm late... Happy Belated Birthday!!!!
  14. Very detailed and some VERY high quality pics!! Yeah, the old statistic is something like if you were to take your expenses from Starbucks once or twice a day and place them in an account with compound interest (Think Roth IRA) for something like 35-40 years you'd have a million dollars by the time you were 65.
  15. Have you considered the Omega Railmaster? Might wanna give those a look see... Best of luck!
  16. Not gonna lie...I'm only interested in two things: That martini...awesome Omni, you using that shaker That watch...awesome!
  17. Alum huh? You learn something new every day... That Glycine is a beauty albiet a large beauty! Enjoy it now that it's fixed!!!
  18. I love this video...sad to see half of the people commenting are just there to bash people with money... yeah, rip on someone for spending money on a watch...that'll right all of your perceived injustices...idiots.
  19. Exactly although when my vintages were modded / when I've done my own very humble mods I def. go for the "gold standard" of having everything match closely as if to appear all original...
  20. I say go for it...it's a gen for the price of a well-modded rep.
  21. No luck with the Maxi dial sorry man... ...still keeping these undos...
  22. Lol I was going to say: Lani doesn't have a lens with a wide enough angle to capture his whole collection in less than 100 shots... ...We're talking about using the Hubble mind you
  23. How's Tourneau on trades? I've purchased most of my gens from them (and Alpha Omega before them...Boston area people may know what I'm talking about)... I've heard they can do a decent deal on trade in's but I've never taken advantage of them before...
