  1. Pretty soon...I pray to the Rep Gods that they will be able to master making reliable watch movements out of the box and start doing some of the more complex stuff
  2. Yeah I mean...we are constantly amazed by what can be done on an analogue platform...why shouldn't we be impressed with the digital platform! I think many of us have become "desensitized" due to the fact that we are constantly wrapped up in an ever-changing world of technology... mechanical platforms are our "rock" - a sort of link to old world craftsmanship, values, and stability... In the 1970s there was a huge push towards digital- it nearly destroyed the Swiss watch industry but due to exhaustive consolidation and marketing the Swiss mechanical watch industry remained mostly in-tact. 10 years ago I would have never imagined that we could do some of the stuff we do now and I'm not "that" old (although my white hairs are starting to show ) but I find myself scouring CNET at times to make sure I don't fall behind in the bleeding edge technology world!
  3. I feel like the seagull was reviewed on TZ.uk and able to accept many ETA parts...whether or not there were variations on the movement idk but it'd be nice to know what works and what doesn't... thanks Stilty
  4. I mean, it's a long shot but you could try a "Want to buy" post on www.pmwf.org, Timezone and Watchuseek as well as check ebay/craigslist?
  5. Thanks for posting this The Zigmeister!
  6. Genuine Kirium dial into a genuine Kirium shouldn't be an issue...Rep Kirium dial...hmm I guess if the dimensions and dial feet are the same it shouldn't be an issue...I've never owned one so I don't know the dimensions...
  7. In response to all the noob questions we've been swamped with lately I've decided to emulate some other members by including a link to this post in my signature... I would STRONGLY encourage others to do the same so we can start educating new members and head off some of the "forum clutter" we've been experiencing lately!
  8. Welcome! Enjoy and start readin'!!

  11. This means you're brighter than 85% of Americans... its shocking how apathetic this nation is...
  12. I think Amonia will remove it...if it's double sided you might also need to remove the crystal and do the other side... Edit to add: I've used this method on crappy rep AR...good AR, like Chief's, might be more difficult
  13. Congrats! Hope to see it soon!
  14. Seconded!!!!
  15. Indeed...the only good malt is single malt!
  16. Most of my asian movements keep time between -3 and +12 seconds per day....not bad for something that costs $25.
  17. PM me with the dealer you're looking for
  18. Very nice! Thanks for the shots
  19. I just tried one of these on at an AD... beautiful piece- timeless elegance is really the only way to sum up the "vibe" it gives off... the movement on the genuine is exquisite with many of the gears exhibiting snailing and the overall very, very high level finish that German brands are famous for... Unless someone owns the genuine article, they'd probably think the handwind Asian version is just as nicely finished...
  20. Damn SQL your awesome pictures make me want to get this!! Thanks for sharing!
  21. Most comfortable is my gen datejust....least comfortable was my Superocean Heritage
  22. Those De Bethunes are amazing... a new manufacturer with limited production? Interesting... that variable winding system and "triple parachute" system are pretty cool
  23. Very well said SouthCoast!
  24. Interesting...please keep us posted!
