  1. I agree with you and Freddy here...the bubble "WILL" burst but the higher end brands like Patek, VC, AP don't have the same issues as, say, TAG or Oris (and to some extent, Omega- although they are trying (and doing pretty well) positioning themselves to be at or very near Rolex quality (and soon value) ) $100,000 watches will not see much-if any- purchasing slowdowns and most AD's that sell really high end watches will tell you that sales of super high end watches have remained steady while the "fashion" brands (Cartier, Tiffany, etc) have seen an absurd drop in sales... people are moving towards higher value and, as Freddy said, the sell-off of many nice watches with clueless owners will begin to really pick up soon as these people decide that winding, setting, and servicing just aren't for them.
  2. I personally don't care for the Ingy design....much more of a VCO fan
  3. Try emailing Mark from http://www.watchdoctor.biz/ or Rex on RG...not sure if Mark will work on reps but I seriously doubt he cares as long as it's an ETA movement... The Zigmeister is obviously the ne plus ultra of movement specialists/rep repair experts here but I'm not sure if he's taking on new work yet... Good luck!
  4. Try the search feature on the top right...that question has been discussed here quite a few times...
  5. Ahhh I understand now... Yeah if you were to order both and really hated one you could always sell it to a board member at a slight loss.... I'm sure people would like Presidentials for a new look on the GMT IIC!
  6. True...and Flynt does want bailout money...that's my type of "stimulus package"!
  7. Presidential bracelet adds a certain amount of "bling" but might reflect (he he) nicely with the sunburst dial... If in doubt, the "classic" design is classic for a reason- It'll go with anything. The presidential bracelet also scratches easier (IMO)... how much extra would it be to order both? Then you can switch at will. A third option, btw, is the SS Jubilee bracelet- does the picture below match your bezel type?
  8. RobbieG may just be talking about watches in terms of shunning digital- he's active on ETFs and I would assume ECN's with the stock market and, if I recall, his company is developing trade software so I'm not sure he shuns EVERYTHING digital Lets not forget- porn wouldn't be what it is without the internet
  9. Nice watch and even better pictures! The bezel should be "looser" with time (at least, my bezels have...) but if it's REALLY tight there's a tutorial here somewhere on how to loosen the bezel spring and realign the bezel..
  10. Thanks for the info guys....with the price of Rolex movements creeping higher and higher, it'd be an expensive error to purchase a loose movement with bastardized parts... I recall seeing some The Zigmeister examples that are just horrifying in terms of the extent of the damage and, it goes without saying, the cost in time and money to get one of these movements into some sort of working condition...
  11. Congrats! I always enjoy reading your posts and seeing you watches...here's to another 1k!!
  12. Agreed...it's just sad people have pushed the envelope to the point where you actually need to put this in writing
  13. Not sure how I missed this but a long overdue congratulations is in order!
  14. http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?showtopic=78001 The search feature works wonders
  15. That crystal is awesome...I'd be terrified of over filing the dial myself...must be nerve-wrecking!
  16. Welcome! There's a great link in my signature as you begin your (expensive and addicting) journey
  17. The IWC with the JLC movement or was it a JLC branded one...I like the designs of those but I think JLC + quartz is sacrilegious
  18. and congrats on having the courage to start working on movements! Have you done the TZ course yet?
  19. Ahh Rex yes I've heard good things from him when I occasionally must go to RG for something...please let me know how it goes!
  20. Hmm... I think the rep width is listed on Trusty/ Josh's respective sites... I can't pin down an exact width with a quick google search...the chronograph looks like it's either (gen) 20 or 22mm... I would think 22mm but might help to check some more gen sites...I'm posting from my phone so I can't really check... Edit: guess it's 22...a bit late
  21. Might be able to find one that's a real beater or busted to hell and back casewise with a good dial for less money than a "new" Tag issue OEM dial would cost
  22. That quote should be stickie'd... Post of the Month All this talk of 42mm POs makes me long for mine that is still getting cleaned, regulated, and lumed in the frozen tundra of SW Pennsylvania.
  23. Local guy or member in PA that can do servicing? Is he known on the board/ accepting work? Some people here might be interested...
  24. Try a simple degaussing (The reallly cheap way is to go to a store with one of those "demagnitizer" things and buy something with an anti-theft tag on it...ask to put our watch right over the pad when the sales associate "demagnitzes" it ) at a mall kiosk or trusted watch repair specialist who is willing to work on reps and is NOT an authorized dealer...if that doesn't work, it might be time for a servicing
