  1. unfortunately i'm not a watch guru, and I don't see how being able to help regulate/fine tune the timing of the movement is important to me.. I think the watch should be accurate in holding time and if it costs $100 more to make sure its 1 sec better than the next movement, is it worth it then ?
  2. what ? that's it !? i don't think i would notice that !
  3. Is this the type of Swiss Movement ? I was considering a 177H, and there's the swiss version and asian version. Visually, is there a difference? I was thinking of saving some $$$ for another watch as long as the asian version is not inferior and keeps time...
  4. Awesome thanks! They still all look the same to me ! haha I think I have to decide between a 63 and a 177H. I like the 63 its a GMT and has more detail on the dial. The 177 Ti is going out of production, so the limited quality of this watch appeals to me. I don't know what to choose now.. hmmm..
  5. Yeah, i guess its personal preference.. I'm liking this PAM063.. if that's the right number.. otherwise I probaby want a Ti version... 177 is standard issue, but I hear they don't make it anymore ? Oh well.
  6. If you were to buy only one PAM, what would it be ? I'm new to PAMs, and as I look through the pics and styles, they all appear very similiar.. which is fine, but makes it tough for me to decide which one is better.. What's the difference between a 111H, 177, 036, etc. etc.. Those are the only models i am aware of so far
  7. Nice.. thanks for all the pics !! My wrists are about 6.6" and ppl here have smaller wrists and still love their PAMs.. I guess I'll order one (i'll have to figure which one now !! ) soon before christmas The 47mm PAMs look huge ! If you want it to appear as a watch, i think 44 is the biggest i'll ever go.. otherwise it starts looking like one of those pocket watches thats been modified and strapped to your wrists sorta like that richard UK pic
  8. Hi folks, I'm interested in a PAM... but i fear that 44-45mm is too big for my wrists.. I generally wear 42mm watches. Does anyone have side-by-side pics of their PAMs next to smaller watches ? I need a visual Does a 42mm recommended PAM exist ? There's the Radiomir version that I don't like that much.. Thanks !
  9. Thanks for all the choices.. Its a tough call... Coming from the Omega arena, I really like my sporty SMP Chrono.. and my moon watch received a lot of great compliments. I personally enjoy my crappy X-33 rep, but i know its not pleasant to most eyes.. I guess it really boils down to personal preference. I love those tags.. very sporty, but they are way too similiar to my SMP Chrono and my other Omegas.. I guess they compete for the same market/demographics. I am looking for something different, but still have the same "awe" effect as any of those watches that I may not like so much. Darn it, I may add that HBB back on my list Probably missed some others, but thank you for all the suggestions.. I am also considering a IWC Pilot (the one that everyone seems to adore).. or maybe a PAM, but i hear most of them are super large.. 42mm is probably the biggest I'll go.. I wonder if there are highly desired PAMs that are not so big ? - VC Overseas: Nice simple elegant watch. Its nicely done esp with a black dial, but it still doesn't stand out to me.. no better than my moon watch - Cartier Seatimer (pasha?): Nice watch, may consider it some more with further after thought, but not on the top of my list right now - Cartier Santos 100: ooh.. a square watch.. I always wondered about these watches, I've seem them around. On my top 5 list for sure. - Chopard GMT Chrono: Nice.. very nice. Nice colours, and very sporty.. Caught my eye.. - IWC Ingenuer: Nice watch.. but i also classify this watch with the VC, simple and elegant, but not an "awe" watch to me.. - TAG Carrera: I like chronos, that's for sure, but this watch reminds me of my moon watch.. - TAG Aquaracer: i like blue/black/silver colours.. definitely a nice theme there.. its on my sporty must have list now !! great too many watches that look so similiar !
  10. I would like to know too.. but there are tradeoffs with lower end watches.. you can probably find a decent IWC or Tag for $150 if you don't mind having a cheaper movement. Most watches will have a "cheaper" version if you look for it. Do a search on best watches for under $200, $100, etc.. IMO, i would go for something you genuinely like no matter the cost.. an extra $50 is not gonna hurt you.. or check out the trade section for a deal..
  11. Hi everyone, i'm looking for something special under the tree this year.. heh but can't find anything that tempts me right now.. I started with reps not too long ago, but I've managed to collect a bunch of Omegas... so no more Omegas.. Other watches I need to cross out are : brietlings, rolex, HBB. Nothing against them, just not my taste. I wanted to get the IWC Aquatimer, but looks like trouble is still brewing.. plus its quite pricey.. (may get a friend to buy me one in China in the future) Would like to get something under $200US if possible, no greater than 42mm. Any suggestions ? Thanks!
  12. my vote is the seamaster of course.. but in terms of omegas.. i would choose : moon watch, smp chrono, upo.. in that order.. the deville is different look if you like that go for it.. there are other brands that look similiar..
  13. I got mine from silix.. which has its own problems.. it looks fine except for a small bubble/crack inside the front cystal.. didn't notice it until i took of the plastic covering the cyrstal. I don't see any movement issues or date window issues on mine. The pearl is not perfect, but i hear its common for all these watches.. the start button for the chrono is hard like hell to press...
  14. Thanks.. I went and bought a precision screw driver set. The bracelet screws require a 1mm screw driver. 1mm ! Had difficultly with one screw that wouldn't budge, but it came out with a little more force.. oh well ! watch is sweet now.. this baby is quite thick ! but I really like the details.. a definate keeper
  15. I just got myself a SMP Chrono and I wish to re-size the bracelet. I know it uses screws instead of pins. The screws are so small ! I have a tiny screwdriver but its not small enough. I tried with a swiss army knife but the screw doesn't seem to budge. Do I have to purchase a special tiny screw driver from somewhere or take the watch to a watch smith ? You would think resizing a bracelet is the most common thing ppl do with their watches, but even then you need special tools for this.. !
  16. Thanks Taiji.. nice review. I'm getting the SMP Chrono, waiting for it to be shipped anyday now. I couldn't wait for this IWC Aquatimer.. !!
  17. Is is there a major difference to any one of those cases ? If I am looking for replacement parts for my rep, which numbers should I be using ?
  18. Hi folks, need your help to determine what parts would match with the standard rep moon watch. I have the 50th anniv version at the moment, but I assume its the same size as the standard full size moon watch that everyone else has. What is the geniune case number that is appropriate for this rep ? ofrei has a moon crystal and uses the case number 145.0811 ? Does anyone know for sure ? Thanks, K
  19. Don't know too much about sectors.. I wouldn't mind a Breitling B-1. But I don't know much about this rep or if they even have one..
  20. A watch becomes gay when the wearer becomes gay... because no straight man would ever wear one of those watches ! Pink, Mickey Mouse, Diamonds, Jewels, flowers, or small watches that look like their made for females are all gay in my book... A gold watch is borderline gay unless you can back it up with the $$$$...
  21. yeah, i only post on rwg, but i don't mind reading opinions and reviews from other sites.. ! Looks like we have a bunch of comedians here.. I was thinking of making an arm cushion that is suspended with some legs. No need for a cover. just something to hold the watches in place without touching any hard surfaces. But with only 2 reps, I'm still a long way to go too
  22. Okay, nobody likes digital watches.. never wear one unless you like Casio or Timex But are there any nice reps made by bigger players that have both Digital and Analog Movements ? I know of the Omega X-33 - rep isn't that good. There's a Breitling one as well ? Any others ? Thanks!
  23. NO worries.. i think watches are cool from a technical perspective.. its more like a gadget to me.. and then there's the wow and luxary factor for wearing some nice ones. But in the end, I think watches is just an accessory, and guys shouldn't be so sensitive about it.. Who cares if someone doesn't wear a watch !! Some people may think its "gay" to wear a watch.. (see the other thread going on around here...)
