I like reps, but I'm not a movement pro... still learning, so please bare with me ! What makes Asian movements cheaper than Swiss ? In terms of life expectancy.. cheaper parts ? lack of care in putting it together ? lack of service/lubrication ? Now, say the average lifespan of an asian movement is 5 years, if I only wear the watch 1 day/week, does this increase the life expectancy of the movement x 7 ? Why 5 years ? Why not 10 or 20 ? Compared to Motor Vehicles, that have a life expectancy in double digits xx years (or xxxx kms).. Do you think watches are very poor in quality? If I don't drive my car, it still slowly degrades over time ! Unless I do proper preparation for storage, like taking out all the fluids, low humidity storage room, etc... Thanks, K

Has anyone heard or tried tritium to lume their watches ? Its radioactive, so I assume most people wouldn't have access to this stuff... I would try luming a watch with it just to see how well it works out. http://www.watchindemand.com/articles/mili...ry-watches.html

Dumb question.. how does customs know if our watches are reps ? Are they watch gurus and can tell in split second ? You need official papers ? They just guess and if you don't say otherwise, they get ya' ? They have a rep seeking dog that can sniff out reps from 30m ? Our watches start ticking and they think its a bomb, and when they find out it isn't, they take it anyways.. ? Its christmas and the customs guys are looking for gifts for their family and friends ??

I disagree mostly because when I try haggling with the dealers.. (don't you guys haggle!!??) they always say that their margins are getting smaller and smaller... if the average watch, even the most expensive reps >$300 cost the dealers $100, man, that's a huge margin !! How often does customs take the watch ?? ever happen to you?? come on.. the dealers are making lots on this.. and we're the suckers who pay for it because we have no other option other than fly to China ourselves.. Just remember that when you buy your next rep from a dealer here !

Hi everyone, quite excited to be getting my first brietling.. SOSF ETA. I've never thought of Brietling as a desirable brand compared to Omega and Rolex for example... the watch stores in Canada, 'la Swiss" sells brietlings, but don't offer Omega and such... so i always thought of Brietling as "lower class"... like Tags.. but some Brietlings are really nice.. when I think Brietling.. I think Aviator Watch.. which is a good thing ! Anyways, I noticed brietling updated their website recently.. looks like to put a lot $$ into it.. its really nice now. Thanks everyone. Its a tough choice and the Cousteau and the SOSF are both fine reps. There seems to be more support for the SOSF. I'm not a big fan of Brietlings, but I do like the the SOSF for all the fine details it has.. looks like an expensive watch. I was hoping for more IWC support !! I tried out the Aquatimer Slevin and it wasn't for me.. so I didn't think the Cousteau would increase my satisfaction to a much higher degree. But i had to decide, my blue SOSF is coming hopefully soon !! I think may try out the IWC Pilots in the near future, because i do want to own a IWC one day..

The dial is actually navy blue... it photographs black... and depends on the lighting condition... The more i stare at it, the more i like it

Nice pics..!! i still have my slevin but its going back to Trusty... little things bother me on it.. and i think i would be happier with the Cousteau, but they're all very similiar in design. If there was better lume and AR, i may have kept it. But given the price of this watch, its not my favourite, but its still a nice watch overall.

Whoa, too much choice !! I liked the black coramid one On Josh Harlett's wrist.. but close up that strap doesn't suit me.. If there is a black leather version of this strap, I may get that one.. Otherwise, this is the other strap that caught my eye... i think its a strap culture strap.. i think its a SC HM Legend II $109US with a 15% discount.. Looks crazy thick ! I like the tone of leather (brown with the white/grey stitching..) is there a strap like this that isn't so thick ? I like soft leather and my wrists are small 6.6", so what's the appropriate length.. I assume it may differ depending on how think the strap is ! This one comes in 135/90mm which sounds big, but appropriate for a strap of this thickness??

Hi folks, I just picked up my first PAM (177H) and I'm looking for a better strap. Unfortunately I'm going to ship this watch back to get it fixed.. its running really fast for some reason. The PAMs look really nice. Nice AR that I didn't expect it to have. It's Asian Unitas but it looks like it has a swan neck dagger. The Ti Models are really light ! Too light ! But the brushed Ti makes it look more miltary like.. In the meantime, I wanted to order a strap for it. I seen some nice pics - V's signature has a nice brown strap. I don't know where to order these straps.. ('ve already PM'ed V who is away) and I don't really want to pay a whole lot for a single strap. I assume the straps don't come with Pam buckles, I'll just reuse the one i have. Thanks,

So guys, i'm having trouble deciding between a IWC Cousteau and a Breitling SOSF. Both superb watches I hear. I'm posting on the IWC forum because I want to know how people feel about their Cousteau's.. I hear the AR and the lume is not bad - at least better than the slevin. I'm leaning towards the '07 model, its a bit flashy (having an orange dial), but it looks nicer overall. Thoughts ? Thanks !!

BTW i got my slevin today. I'm not too happy about, but I did buy it off a dropshipper.. The one i have is similiar to 'Red's mini review. The swiss made is slightly too far to the left. There is almost no lume on this guy.. just a bit on the the hands. The inner bezel doesn't rotate very smoothly on mine. It's going back. I really want a IWC, i may go for a Cousteau instead...

Question, does the inner bezel rotate ? Does anyone have lume shots ?

let me ask then.. what would make this a super rep then ? Better lume and AR ? Better date fonts ? Are those the key things people are looking out for ? Other than the lume and AR, is there anything else this watch could be improved on ? a nicer swiss movement.. mmmm..

I'm all about hype.. and since I'm join the rep scene only 4 months ago, I've been adding whatever I can that ppl were recommending.. I'll think i'll like this watch.. not only is it a decent watch that resembles the gen really closely.. i like watches that also have some sort of story behind it. I can tell my buddies that this was one of the most anticipated watches of '07. Don't own a IWC so it'll be the first... not many ppl know about IWC so I can chat about that at least !

The slevin aquatimer is out, and there's been some good reviews ! So, what happened to everyone else who bought one ? Are you all satisfied with it ? Some people still waiting on the fence depending on the QC or different model ?? It's an expensive rep ! I felt like spending my hard earned cash so I bought one - should have thought about it some more, but we'll see. It should arrive in a day or so. Keep on tickin' K

What's up with lume ? Why is it so cool to have nice lume on a watch and how practical is lume ? Afterall, it doesn't last very long, and I assume most ppl shine a bright light at it before taking their lume shots. Am I missing something here ?

Nice watches Barbosas. I got a greedy and I ordered a PAM177H. Yes, I found one, but decided with the asian unitas instead of swiss to save some money... because i also ordered a IWC Aquatimer... no more spending for me this year !!
