From the pics, its not the same dome as the moon watch. I'm rather fond of a real domed crystal rather than just a slight curve. Two colour subdial ? GEN 3210.50 Speedmaster Date Chronometer Indeed this watch looks nice. The bezel is curved. But the cyrstal is not 'domed' like the moon watch. Caseback looks accurate. Rep has the same markings. Doesn't look as shiny though. Rep is not polished? Rep Rep Case Back Nitpicking: The Omega and speedmaster font looks too bold. The date font a tad smaller. Tachmetyre looks slightly lower on the bezel insert. Also, the numerals on the insert look closer towards the crystal - not properly centered. Josh states 40mm x 15mm. The gen states 40mm x 13.7mm. Not sure how thick this watch is suppose to be (perhaps its been measured incorrectly). It is definately thicker than a moon watch, but not as thick as a SMP Chrono. The movement is labeled as a caliber '3303'. I believe the Gen uses a 1152, unless this has changed somewhere in its history. I like AR on my watches, and I think the Gen also has single sided AR. Yes and I agree that 7750 should fit the subdials perfectly just like the SMP Chrono. No sub dial spacing issues. But I'm no pro on this, hopefully someone will buy it and let everyone know ! Excellent Rep. Ken

Nice Moon watch Andy! Congrats! I love this watch. I will one day buy the Gen - perhaps after a nice promotion ! If they ever make a version that fixes the sub dial placement, I would definately buy another ! or even bring back the version with 'domed' crystal. I must have a dome crystal ! Thanks for sharing Ken

Hahah ! hey you guys are right. The HE valve was actually a date pusher. Just a single push and the date advances. Nice.. Now all i need is a gen crystal, a new crown, double AR and a new strap and this baby will be perfect. Funny, this watch was advertised with a 21J not a 35J. I guess that's a bonus.

Hi PAM lovers, Here's my newly acquired PAM222 w/SS bracelet. This is a rep of a special limited regatta edition with power reserve (correction: powered by an Asian 35J PR - Seagull ST-2530 / TY-2530). This PAM drew me in somehow. Huge & Hefty. The largest watch I own. Next to a SMP Chrono, my Omega looks tiny. Nicely built however. The usual flaws, CG needs tightning and Crown is thin. Power Reserve is a nice touch (not fully tested). Hobnail Dial is nice. Lume is not too bad. On the left hand side near the 8'oclock marker, there appears to be HEV. What looks like a HE valve is actually a date advancement button. Okay, help me out here. I don't like the crystal and cyclops. What does a gen cyclops mag suppose to look like ? Getting the SS bracelet was a mistake. I've always liked SS bracelets over leather or rubber and the PAM SS bracelet looked really nice, but its flimsy, and the deployment system is not very good. It doesn't work too well and its extremely difficult to release. Is this common with rep braclets? Even on my SOSF, the bracelet is not up to my standards. So far, I've only liked Omega SS bracelets. Sorry for the lousy pics. My camera is terrible. I gotta get a new one. It won't focus on anything! Terrible deployment! Lume New photos will come once I get a better setup going. Thanks! KM

When is the last day for signup ? I'm waiting on a few items to arrive and to be pulled apart

Nice, i've never read a watch magazine before.. i'd probably admire the nice pics..

I think it would be fun to do those timezone watch classes... only if i had the time ! Ofrei selling those kits starting at $240, but they come with movements to practice on. Expensive. Gotta source me just the bracelet and case back tools for now..
-
I was going to ask the same question ! You never know, some newbs like me may one day be a watch smith. But I agree with Ken, simple tools will suffice until you actually need them. But there are people who like to buy those 1000 piece tool sets and only use 1 tool I'm looking basic tools to adjust bracelets - all types, open the case back - screw type and flip. Ebay, Narikka, local watchsmith... no point in shipping something that is readily available locally, but perhaps its still cheaper at from the bay. KenM

Help with becoming supporter please.

Add me to the list too ! thanks -
I think of it this way... Watches you don't wear VS the potential value of these watches Is there any value to the watches you don't wear ? For me, I would keep the watch even if i don't wear it as long as it has potential value.. a rare watch.. Some PAMs are hard to get.. but the GMTs IMO or not highly coveted.. (but what do i know..??) i like them ! PM me if you want to sell
-
Look around.. there is a trade sub forum.. you can email, skype, PM, whatever your heart desires.. this board doesn't sell anything...
-
Dude, thats a nice case.. why would you want to flush it ??? PM me

Yeah, I know what you mean. I guess i don't want to start off with $300-$400 and not be satisfied, or screw up something during the mod process. This is the ideal route - Get a standalone MBW case and mod it with gen parts. I think it would be cheaper and more fun! I think ! If i can get at least a MBW with a cheap asian movement, at least I can see it working and then later look for a nicer ETA. So how much does it cost to completely mod a MBW with gen parts ? Where abouts do you source gen parts ? ebay ??

I suggest the larger PO - or the so called Ultimate PO. Less flaws... Almost every dealer sells this version, just make sure you know what you're looking for. There are dropshippers like andrew, josh, and other dealers who do a bit more QC than others. As for the seamaster, there many versions, I'm not sure which is the best rep of them all, but they are generally about the same in quality. Little things to look for is the bezel alignment, print, dial sharpness, and the pearl. The prices will vary, but generally you can source a nice one within $200. Send pics or links if you wish to know more of a specific model.

First Panerai thoughts (sorry for fragmented post)
kenmasters replied to ericw's topic in The Panerai Area
Its expensive, most likely because its not available.. and of course anything can be made available at a cost $$ I prefer busier watches too, and PAMs are generally not that type of watch. I have a 177H, which has a display back. And I have a PAM222 which is similar to the 28, you may want to check that out. Power Reserve ETAs are probably very expensive.. good luck ! -
Thanks!! If you guys were to start over again on your mod project, what would you suggest as a base? Question can you get a MBW without a Swiss movement ? and buy a nice ETA somewhere else as a mod ? Basically, I'm looking for a cheap rep that can mod easily, but also completely to get my hands dirty...

Hi everyone, Search has been a good friend of mine, but I had a quick question for a Rolex newbie. What versions of reps will accept 1:1 gen parts ? I like subs, vintage subs, GMTs and Sea-dwellers. Do I have source this well known MBW model or so called MBW models? Of all these models, what is the cheapest version that has the most gen parts available for it ? I want to start a mod project, but want to make life easier.. Thanks, K

ohh, nice to identify fellow CDNs in the forum... ! Oh Canada!

I didn't realize there was an intro forum ! haha, I've been sneaking around the past 4 months without an quick intro. I stumbled upon this site along many other rep sites (I like this one the most), and I learned so much from everyone since. Thank you ! This is my 100th post, horray ! I'll support RWG in the new year. I'm going to stop buying reps ! I already purchased 7 of them in less than 3 months !! Merry Xmas and Happy New Year ! Wishing you and your families all the best this season ! Ken

Its true, the PAM forum needs a rep guide. I would do it, but I know nothing about PAMS ! I just heard about them maybe 2 months ago ! PAMS apparently are the 2nd most talked about watches on this forum. Check out the post count. Rolex is #1, PAM is #2. Nothing else comes close ! So who wants to be a hero ? I don't think By-Tor is in to PAMs...
-
Nice.. thanks for the pics Vic ! Definately not the same watch I posted.. hmmm.. i wonder what watch this is then... ?!
-
True.. i'm just cheap.. and my interest will probably fade fast..

Thought I share this info.. just watched the movie ! Not bad.. your typical zombie movie.. but with Will Smith ! I noticed they showed off this watch during the movie.. i couldn't recognize it, but its a definately a nice watch ! I don't think it has an alarm though. Apparently Hamilton watches are quite popular.. appeared in many movies ! If I ever find one cheap, I may buy it. Rep anyone ? http://www.luxist.com/2007/12/18/hamilton-...in-i-am-legend/

silly questions about the lifespan of movements
kenmasters replied to kenmasters's topic in General Discussion
So they're just plain cheaper, in either parts or assembly... if the darn thing breaks down, can they be simply serviced and brought back to life ? or is it cheaper just to get a new movement ? How about the question in regards to usage as a factor of life expectancy ? If I let my Asian 7750 sit for a couple of years, will it break down on its own ? -
Sorry for re-opening this topic again. What parts would I need to get to make sure a gen crystal would fit a rep moon watch ? Including gaskets and all. I'm sure there is a way !
