  1. As I said over at TRC this sound interesting if price including shipping is "nice". It is the shipping costs for us here in Europa I am worried about

    !

@jdknod IWC changed the model from 39mm to 42mm around 2006, so the one you describe is the new version. The 39mm rep of the 2005 mod and older is very close to the gen 39mm, mostly it is the missing AR that is visible. I bought the silver dial version from River, and it is great
  3. Send Ruby a picture of the version you would like to get, and I am 99% sure she can find it for you. She got my wife a very nice TT Masterpiece with MOP dial 12 diamonds, and 12 diamond bezel that looks very nice. (I think that it is a fantasy version, since the masterpiece as far as I know only comes in "full gold" or "tridor" (Yellow, pink and white gold) but who really cares as long as it looks good )
  4. Please update this with how it goes. I am VERY interested in doing the same ( Buying a BR10-92 and put a real 2892 into it ) but I am worried the hands might have a different pin dimentions since this asian version of the 2892 does not look at all like the "good" asian seagull copy that is close to the swiss in design. Alos how thick the dial is. I have 4-5 good 2892-2 and A2 laying around, but all was previously installed on watches with very thin dials and probably need some parts changed to work in this setup.
  5. @mrnixon. About the hands on the IWC Fa Jones. It is not the hands themselves that break, it is the "blue paint" that they have used on them that easily get scratches. And I think most 6497 (Swiss or asian) is running good? At least all mine (8-9 of them) have only needed timing adjustments to make me happy. (maybe half of them was running 3-4 min/day fast or slow when I got them, but after 2-3 rought adjustements they get down to 10-20sec/day. No problem getting them even better, but takes time to adjust closer without measuring instruments. And as they say, gen's also have problems
  6. @vmena. You are located in Europa I think ? Maybe we could do a "shared order" from JulesBorel ? You get the pack from USA, and just forward some of them to me I need at least 2-3 of these myself. ( Any idea if the "enlargement ring" could work also for a 2892-2/A2 movement, have several good swiss 2892 now and prefere it over the 2824/36)
  7. At last. the gen Pugwash REALLY want (and the rest of you also) is now for sale at ebay. Just click here and enjoy its beauty Nice watch (No virus/spam, and mostly worksafe )
  8. Hi. Watch is now sold for $350 + shipping costs. I think $350 is the "normal" price for a used MBW 1680. Chronomat123 sold his modded one for $390, but that was really too cheap. Included these mods: "-genuine Rolex crown and tube installed by watchmaker, cost around $100 -upgraded crystal with better date mag and higher stance, cost $15 -upgraded the bezel insert, cost $35 - lugs re-worked, cost $50 " And I think "George" is selling them for around $430-$440, but there the problem is to get him to sell one to you. I decided to sell it because I found out I really prefere bigger or chrono watches. (And PAMs of course )
  9. Hi all. I am planning to sell my unmodded Watchmaster 1680 red sub on the board today, but since I bought it used myself just wanted to get confirmation that it really is "the good stuff" before putting it up for sale. Also if anyone could confirm that there are no differenced between a MBW 1680 and a WM 1680 ? (don't want to do any false advertising ) It has the "Polex design" engravement between lugs, solid mid links etc. Here are the pics: Thanks for you help
  10. @mrnixon. Then I think you have been tricked by reflections/light settings in the pictures. The "blue sticker" is just transport protection that most rep watches have on the crown when you get it. Just scrape it of as soon as you get it. There is no small hole under it (At least not on any of my watches) Here is a closeup of the crowns on my 2 FA Jones. Think you can see clearly there is no hole there. @Tourbillon1801. I agree the swiss is best, but the asian is "good enough". And you also get an engravement and other details that looks a lot like the gen. How heavy is the watch in swiss version ? My "normal" asian is 67g with strap etc, and the skeleton is 60g. I think the glass/crystal on both of my reps look ok. Both passes the "water drop" test, but only the skeleton feels "solide" when I tap on it. ( The skeleton also had a small sticker with "sapphire" written on in english and chinese when I got it ) Have no diamond tester, so unable to check them closer.
  11. @mrnixon. Could you explain better what you mean with "little hole in the top of the crown" ? I have 2 FAJ (Viagra + skeleton), and both have a "flat" area on top of the crown, but no hole at all. As far as I know the gen also have this "flat" area there. It is avalable with swiss or asian movement, but only the asian have the "correct" engravements. I think the chance is very small the factories will bother to update the swiss version. Both mine are asian, and only need a tiny bit of tuning to run close to COSC standard. So I dont really see the need for swiss here. Especially since River is selling these for $89 incl shipping, that is cheap for this quality I think.
  12. Hi. Have decided to start playing "watchmaker" and both upgrade some of my reps and build some "frankenwatches". Since it seems like the 2892 movement have a good reputation I thought it could be nice to use that as a basis. Have been checking ebay for some time, and found one seller offering a pack with 4 movements. The pics did not looks too bad, and he had good feedback so I decided to go for it. Total cost including shipping, WU charges etc was around $140, so each movement cost me $35. This is what I received. I was pleasently surprised. All four seems to run very good, and the 3 that have hands all keep perfect time. Any idea if Raymond Weil automatic watches have any value in themselves ? As far as I can see, all 4 seems to be genuine swiss ETA 2892, but would be nice if anyone could confirm this. Also does anyone know if Raymond Weil dials might use real diamond markers? They sparkle/bling a LOT more than what I am used to from rep or "normal" watches. Replacing a 2824/2836 movement with this should be fully possible ? Also thinking to buy the B&R BR01-92, and put in the movement it is supposed to have
  13. Just received my FA Jones Skeleton from River, and just had to show her to you boys (This is real watch porn with naked movements parts) I especially like how the looks changes depending on the lightening. Vas really surprised about how clean the engravements was, especially for this price. I know it is a fantasy watch, but who cares. ( The serial number show this is #17 of #50, so can just claim it is a very small production given to friends of IWC )
  14. I have 2 of these ( one IWC Portogeese Crono Laureus and one Panda ). The Laureus is almost same as yours, only it have maybe 10-15min PR. Also stops on the wrist. So is only useful as a paperweight right now. Think it is just the movement that is not able to drive the "sec at 6" transfer gear setup as described by The Zigmeister (Check his repport about this model) A full service might help for some time, but only permanent fix is probably to remove the extra gears and just "freeze" the second's hand. The crono function will still be ok. My Panda runs perfectly on the wrist, but have only 4-6h PR so is also a "timebomb" that can stop anytime.
  15. @Finepics. This is the new 46mm B&R01-92 that is described as : "MOVEMENT: ETA 2892-2 Automatic 21J" ??? That is terrible. This movement looks REALLY cheap, does not even look anything like the seagull 2892 copy. Now I understand why there was no movement pics. Was THAT close to buying one, and the ETA2892-2 movement was much of the reason why I wanted one. And the price was close to $ 300 when it came out, fully possible to get a real 2892-A2 movement for under $150 when buying just one, so the story " you must understand you can not get a real 2892-2 for this price" does not hold water. Now the quarts chrono version seems like a better option, unless the price for this "bastard" goes down to the $90-120 where the rest of the normal good "unknown asian movement" watches are. (Can then buy and put in one of the real swiss 2892 movements I have laying around and be happy ) Interesting if hands from this movement will fit a real ETA ?
  16. Have had my last 2 shipments stopped by Norwegian customs but it is not SO bad. They only get treated as any other imported goods, so I must show an acceptable copy of what I have paid for it and then pay VAT 25% + about $25 for the paperworks. So for a $200 watch that gets stopped, I have to add $75 customs duties to get it. (Much better than loosing it altogheter or having to send it back)
  17. I have 3 watches with 7750 modified to "sec at 6". 2 IWC Porto with asian 7750. One works very good, but only on the wrist, stops on winder. Keeps COSC standard on the wrist, but have stopped sometime during night so it seems like reserve is not so good. The other is unable to run. Was OK for maybe one month, but now stops after 10-30min on the wrist. Starts again if shaken, but is just not able to keep running. Neither have been serviced. One Daytona with ETA 7750 and full service. This one works without any problems. About 35-40h reserve. Runs maybe 10sec/24h slow, but is fixed, so fully possible to adjust. Hope this helps.
  18. Davidsen's sapphire crystal is a bit thicker ( think 2,5mm same as the gen instead of 1,5-2mm so it should be stronger ) than the "average" rep crystal and if installed correctly should be safe. Have not heard about any from him that have broken or exploded.
  19. River sells a pack with 2 sets of spring bars for PAM 44 or 47mm for $15 incl shipping. They looks like the original screws when mounted and replaces both the screw and tube. Highly recommended. (But you have to get the old screw out first somehow )
  20. Norway is very "nice" when it comes to rep policy at the moment Only if someone (Rolex/Nike official importer in Norway etc) have gotten a court order to stop spesific "fake" imports can customs take anything. So they can check a shipment with 100+ IWC watches, but as long as it has been declared as "watches, 100pcs", and a realistic value for cheap chines watches they have to let it pass after VAT etc have been paid. Customs have asked for new rules, but this can take some time. So you can be totally safe as a private person carrying 2-3 used watches.
  22. Beautiful watch Nice pics, but a bit hard to locate the links to them. ( In each of the thumbnails there is a link written in dark blue on black background between the "reduced 85%" line and the "980 x 733" line.)
  23. New layout is nice, agreed. (Seems like Norway was first this time, yes)
  24. Short answer: NO Have 2. (Panda + Laureus) One only runs if shaken hard ( Is fully winded ), can then run 15-40min before it stops again. Second one runs perfectly as long as it is on the wrist ( fixed at +1 second/day ) but have only about 3h power reserve for some reason. Does not stay wound on winder, have a feeling rotor is not moving as freely as it should. ( HUGE difference in feeling/sound on this compared to other asian 7750 I have. Other have this "50.000rpm" feeling if shaken, but this one have much "slower" rotor. )
