  1. I think that is also the order of price . . . e.g. if you want to spend less, you get the Hamilton. Fine timepieces though.
  2. How is this even being debated? Aluminum is very light, very soft. If your watch is heavy, as expected, it is steel. If it is light like a plastic watch, it's aluminum. If you can tell the difference in weight between a titanium watch and a steel watch, you can tell the difference between aluminum and steel. If you still aren't sure, you can take an Xacto knife and try to cut a chunk out of the watch in a hidden spot. If you can cut a chunk out it's aluminum, if you just end up scratching your watch but can't get chunks/shavings, it's steel. I doubt that any watch maker would use aluminum.
  3. Ruby's is much more accurate, for the reasons that you mention (numeral shape, white square around date)
  4. Some of these shots are fantastic, any chance you fantastic photographers will upload some high-resolution shots? I'd love to have some of these as my wallpapers, but I have a pretty big screen (1920x1280)
  5. Does the rep FM Crazy Hours actually do the real thing where the hands jump to the next hour? I would have thought that movement was too hard to rep.
  6. Did you ask him how he knew it was a rep? What was the tell?
  7. I don't have any local tips, but depending on where you are and the exchange rates, Duty Free stores (e.g. at the airport) can be a pretty good deal. Like nearly everywhere in Asia, they deal a bit as well so be prepared to bargain (a little). They might not be able to come down in the price, but can probably throw in some extra goodies if you ask.
  8. Great find, some great pictures there.
  9. Great choice, that's a gorgeous watch. Let's see some pics!
  10. Nice car! But just like our reps with questionable movements, I hope you have a good "watchsmith" er BMWsmith.
  11. I'd love one but I don't think I have the skillz necessary to do the dial replacement myself. Any idea how difficult this will be?
  12. What a fantastic collection, where did you get the Monaco? I haven't seen it around.
  13. I think the gen is the 005 - look at the A's
  14. Nice, I wonder if there are any reps that use tritium . . .
  15. Welcome, enjoy your stay, come back often.
  16. Thanks Admin, now I see the "New article" button on the right. Is there a way to create new categories? By the way, I can only see 4 articles, and 3 categories (Forum features, New members, Q&A's), but the stats say that there are 45 articles in 8 categories. I assume the 41 articles and 5 categories that I cannot see are only visible to RWG supporters? By the way I really like the idea of having a Wiki, there are so many things that I have learned recently that would be so easily codified into a Wiki.
  17. Can anyone post to the wiki, or do you have to be a supporter? Because I can't see how to start a new article or edit an article, but maybe that's because I am just a member.
  18. Ruby will send you a picture of the watch that she sources for you before shipping to ensure it is the one that you want. That implies no drop-shipping, though I suppose she could have the pics taken by the drop-shipper.
  19. Welcome back, I think that the community has grown quite a bit in the past year.
  20. Holy crap, that's a pretty pricey gift for a 9 year old! You sure it wasn't a rep?
  21. Wow, what does everyone have against Fossil watches? Yeah, they're not fancy timepieces, but are they that much worse than buying chinese knock-offs of legitimate brands? Isn't this a bit of the pot callling the kettle black? Can't we all just get along, and love all timepieces, of all shapes/sizes/brands? And no, I don't have a Fossil, but they were my introduction to watches back when I was a kid. They were a great way for me to start developing a full blown love for watches.
  22. I haven't bought my first rep yet, am I not allowed into the party? I'd love to show up and meet some of you guys.
  23. Sounds like a job for a Wiki, that way modders can update their information when/if things change. I wouldn't suggest listing any prices there, just the services provided and the country the modder is in. Maybe contact info too, but you can always PM.
