Since we have learned that the pearl on the rep PO's is part of the bezel and not the insert, would it be possible to remove the insert, then cut or grind down the pearl "housing", then install an aftermarket insert that has the pearl on it like a gen?
Is there an MBK version of the GMT II with red/black insert? A good friend of mines has a birthday coming up and he loves this watch. There wouldn't be any mods done to it so I'm looking for the best possible out of the box watch. He knows I'm into reps so I'm not trying to pass it off as a gen. Thanks all.
I'm still waiting to hear for SURE if anyone has done a gen bezel/insert on the UPO. There are threads flying around all the forums but no one yet to my knowledge has said they have done it.
Yeah I got with them. Thanks for the info. Since the one I have does not have AR and I stripped all the screws, I wear it as my daily beater and I got the newer one with the AR. If the "geneve" on the dial is ever corrected I'll try to swap the dial with my "good" one.
The only time I ever set foot in any AD is when my wife thinks she needs another diamond ring. If I happen to be wearing a rep I leave it locked in the glove compartment. This hobby doesn't need anymore spotlight on it. Just my .02
That my friend is the million dollar question. Technically it shouldn't have the seconds hand, BUT a gen jumbo in the 70's could be orderd with the seconds hand. I guess that PP felt for that kind of money you could get a custom watch. I plan to have mines removed at some point to make it closer to the 3700. Plus I feel it gives it a "cleaner" look.
You mean like I did? I got the strap off but both spring bars went "boing" and flew off to who knows where. What size spring bars do I need for a MBK Sub? Get a springbar tool UB7.
