  1. Hope you can spend more time around here once you settle in to your new home.
  2. IMHO, the answer is that you should not be doing much of anything unless you or a fellow member is fluent in one of the smith's two languages. But I am sure that other members will help each other out as appropriate.
  3. RMC- Very nice. Then again I expect no less from you. Can't wait to see the finished project. I think I see a future for one of those beautiful dials in one of our mutual friend's cases.
  4. The reason why folks are rolling their eyes a little is that there are a couple of much more fundamental flaws. For anyone who cares and takes a look the instant tell will be the straight line of the crown and chrono pushers. The gen has a chrono module and so the crown sits much lower. Here is a pic of a franken MBW with gen movement: Having said that, I have always heard rumors about the RO Chrono quartz version having much better hands as well so if anyone has put them on their ROO please let us know.
  5. It is always wonderful to identify another resource for the membership. But I am always somewhat cautious. Please let us know to what extent this repair person has done work directly for you or other members and what was the result.
  6. Congrats on a great watch. It is one of my favorites and as everyone says I would stick with C3.
  7. Love it. Lani's initial pics inspired me and I am hoping to see one in the next week or two. Congrats on a great combo
  8. I know you stayed away from the dial because it didn't come with the inner "Tachymeter" bezel and as such was useless. On the case and bracelet they are not gen. They are MBW and although the brush work is fairly good on their stuff this one is worth a rebrush. I also had the benefit of a gen AP to compare the brushing. It is funny that this topic came up as I have just sent it out to Ziggy for a dial and hands change.
  9. I have done a number of group buys (17j 7750 swiss movements, crowns, cyclops, etc.) and I am of the opinion as well that it requires someone to ultimately take full financial responsibility. In the case of the crowns I got them all and then found that a certain number were unusable and so I had to move the cost per unit up to ensure there were not unhappy customers and/or I didn't lose a lot of money. They can be a valuable resource to the community but you do have to tread carefully.
  10. No idea who it is. Be forewarned that the gen with the houndstooth dial as pictured came in PVD - not stainless.
  11. Adding- Big congrats on both projects. I love these projects. I get far more pleasure from frankens than reps or gens. The hunt for or fabrication of the parts necessary to make these watches is where the pleasure comes on my end. I have frankens with thousands invested and they may or may not have been brilliant investments and I have some put together for a few hundred dollars but I wear those with far more pride than any gen.
  12. FGD- Congratulations on a beautiful watch. Wear that one well.
  13. You did. But the manufacturer didn't.
  14. I was wondering if FXR purposely left out the H on purpose to avoid our stupid jokes.
  15. You should see their immaculate conception model.
  16. We will just have to see what comes out. I don't care who but it would be great if we start to see more contemporary reps with the latest generation cg's, quick release strap pins and maybe even a good looking rep of the in-house movement.
  17. I walked into the local AP store and they seemed to have a couple of new date only models with red/pinkish inner bezel. Could be the new Scuba/Boutiquefor the NY. In any case, I have never understood why they didn't make a good rep of the scuba models since it gets rid of the whole crown st below the pushers issue which will always be the instant tell for an afficionado. In any case, hope springs eternal.
  18. I know it was a lot of effort but well worth it. Wear it well.
  19. Had a suspicion where this one was going. Congrats! Looks great.
  20. Well, I will be the dissenting voice and say I like it entirely stealth. I know you are going to try the red though. I look forward to the pics.
  21. And on the casebacks the alterntatuve casebacks (581 and 492) often don't fit on the better case and their case is worse. And there is the conundrum
  22. Congrats on both watches. They look great. You can always upgrade the engine. Here is the same WM with a replacement Cortebert engine. And for all the wonderful advancements in the vintage world, the Ziggy brown dial is still a work of art.
  23. Happy Birthday and all the best on what I hope will be a fun day on your end.
  24. Absolutely stunning. You have outdone yourself.
