Watchmeister V3.0 Vintage Datewheels
Watchmeister replied to ubiquitous's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
All I can say is my watch is the happy recipient of one and they look great. If you beg Ubi, maybe he will post some pics over the weekend. Forgive me, Ubi. -
No, my opinion never changes either. Just kidding (sort of). I actually am not interested in opinions. I am interested in actions. I have read 10 pages of opinions. Please tell me the other options which actually lead to the Admin and members making the appropriate decision - double secret probation? Unfortunately I am old enough to remember that one. You started this. I would love for you to finish it. Let democracy reign.

Some Of The Best Watch Information Ever Posted On The Forums...
Watchmeister replied to TwoTone's topic in General Discussion
What a fabulous flashback. The general watch info is priceless. The rep info is helpful as well but it also gives you a sense of how far the higher end of the rep market has come. Neo and the other posters in the original loop deserve a big thank you. I don't think I could read the whole loop again though. -
Pam 89 Gmt Titanium Anthracite Dial
Watchmeister replied to ajoesmith's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I was interested in fixing the opposite flaw on the 196 ("6" marker is to long) and my prudent watchsmith recommended against it. To make the additional mark I suspect you would have to make an exact channel in the dial to hold the lume while drying and to help hold the lume in place over the long term. Perhaps a little work with a swiss file and then fill in with super lume? If you try it you would definitely want to do a relume to match up the glow. The channel would also help this issue as different amounts of lume over the same surface area appear to impact the duration of the glow. -
Why are we moving back to the topic. Talk is cheap. People have nothing to lose. No opinions ever change here. We should put it to a vote and stop wasting time. That will give the admin the true forum opinion because there are only three options: TOSS THEM LET THEM REFORM AND KEEP THEM WHO CARES ABOUT PAST TRANSGRESSIONS The only vote that has any consequences to the forum is tossing them. Let's see how moral indignation stands up to potential loss of dealer. Everything else is drivel unless someone wants to write the definition of acceptable descriptions. If no one else does it I will definitely put up this poll when I get back from work. And most importantly, everyone keep posting dealer reviews when they have a negative transaction. That is the only way to evaluate a dealer. Data - useful; opinion - ???. If I told you that one of the dealers offered a kidney to another forum member's child would that change your opinion of the dealer? For that matter would you believe them?

I respect and am thankful for the forum's protection of the membership. But in truth I would also welcome the ability to get the same watches at similar prices within my own country. And yeah, I am happy to live with poor descriptions if the person is reliable. Hey, at least he took the Swiss out of the 2892 description. How long someone can last operating out of LA is a different question. I do hope he earns his stripes and can be legitimately added to the forum if he checks out.
-
This gets more intriguing. It is a well put together website. It took elements of various websites and combined them. And it loads fast. I think he changed his description of the B&R. The "Swiss" is gone.

I do hope this thread is locked down. The admin has made his statement. He has found the feedback useful. But nothing new by anyone (myself included, of course) has been said in quite a while. If people are determined to carry on until the bitter end, you will never have a sense of how upset folks really are until you take a vote. Here are the categories: 1.Ban the Dealers in Question 2.Allow them to stay if they fix blatantly wrong descriptions on the forum 3.No one cares, we want access to the dealers I will bet you will be surprised at the practical response to all this righteous indignation. And by the way being able to vote anonymously is a good thing. That is how democracies work. I won't start this poll as IMHO this is significant enough that it is the Admin's call.

Someone Wanna Tell Me About New York

Bill- Are you around town tomorrow or heading back? -
This thread never would have been started at the old RWG or TRC because no one bothered describing anything. We all looked in photobuckets, asked the dealers questions and took our shot. In order to buy from Honpo (the first high end web site) I had to have another forum member who was fluent in Japanese communicate for me. Prices were arbitrary since none were published (other than Paul's - remember that first crazy sale). In truth I respected the priviledge of being able to buy better quality illegal goods. I still do. In any case, time will tell how Andrew and Josh respond. I do hope that dealers reform some of their sales policies but that doesn't change the fact that I have had numerous satisfactory transactions with Josh and even a couple with Andrew. For the record the FM Conquistador 2892 which came from Josh is 100% ETA. It is sitting with Ziggy in pieces as we speak. Perhaps they will go the way of other dealers who add watches only occasionally in order to keep their contact info available on this forum. You folks noticed that one? The number of new watches being posted on this forum by dealers has declined dramatically. I expect that trend to continue. I am glad the administration is taking this seriously. However if the forum were working correctly a dealer would screw up, many negative reviews would be forthcoming and his sales would fall. Obviously that hasn't happened in this case. Is that because people are not dutifully reporting bad transactions?

Looks great.

What's The Verdict On The Cheap Ultimate Po's?
Watchmeister replied to mezzanine's topic in The Omega Area
Does anyone know whether you can swap the bezel and insert on the ultimate 45.5 for gen? I know you can't on the 42.5. -
Does This 222 Look Like It Has A Deployant Clasp?
Watchmeister replied to kidxer's topic in The Panerai Area
Surprising. I have never seen that watch sold with anything buy deployant. -
That small print in the bank loan or auto ad only came about after millions of dollars of lawsuits and years of getting legislation passed. There ain't no small print in many countries. Don't hold your breath on black market goods. In point of fact this loop has served its purpose by pointing out real issues in advertising. Do what you will with the facts.

Actually the dealers responded in an intelligent manner. There was no upside for them in getting into a pissing match with forum members. No one ever changes their opinion here anyhow. They waited for the loop to slow down and then posted a reponse. Take it for what it is worth. You can draw your own opinions. I thought it was funny when their response was set up as a separate loop. Why would they respond to this one. Everyone has to make up their own minds as to how they feel. I just ordered from Josh. Why? Because I do ask questions, he always has promptly reponded to problems and on a recent occasion when I got something I was disappointed with he allowed me to exchange the item. Then again he knows I will continue to be a customer. Of course, I didn't wear it for a while and nor do I assert that it came broken when it obviously didn't. You want to protect the NOOBS. Don't forget they or other similarly ridiculous members have scared off at least one trusted dealer. You now have to come to him. He is not posting around here anymore. I am sorry for those people who thought they were buying one thing and got another. If you ask questions and are blatantly lied to that is unacceptable. That has never been the case with me with any dealer. And I know. All my better reps go to Rob for either relume or service. And by the way, my FM 2892 conquistador is 100% ETA. I would be remiss however if I didn't say thanks to Neil and Jay for standing up in the prior thread. I will try and buy more from them. Of course, this does not bode well for my pocketbook.
