I know Mark is just waiting to hear back from the printers any day now. At least the printers are sophisticated enough now to have a good sense of what passes muster and to reject the last set of plates that were made for this project. Can't wait though.
Thanks for the pics. I am waiting for the same one but opted for the Asian rather than the Swiss. I was curious as to whether they have the same datewheeel font. I usually don't buy the Swiss version but wait to decide whether the watch gets substantial wrist time. If it does I buy a Swiss movement for $200 or so and then have it serviced so I know it is good for five years before needing another service. The downside is that you can't always use the Asian datewheel on the Swiss movement. that was the case on the Chrono Avenger where I got lucky as the Swiss movement had font closer to Brietling than what came on the Asian.
Congrats on a good test. I have found out the hard way that the ultimate test is not swimming or showering but rather taking it into a steam room. I had one rep that I had taken swimming numerous times but the minute I left it on in a steam shower I had moisture all over the dial. Of course my solution of sticking it in a toaster at modest temperatures did not work out to well either.
It is very tough to tell. That is what scared me off from the grey. I have seen the grey gen and the dial looks lighter relative to the dial. But the AR coat and the pics make it difficult to tell.
I am not recommending this but I have found that when I acccidentally rub a croc strap with a cape cod cloth the finish dulls down and does not come back.
I would be surprised if it is thicker than any other rep of this. To the best of my knowledge it is a standard case. I have one but it is sitting with Ziggy having the movement dissected. It is the same size case as my 2893 GMT's and those cases are the same size as gen.
But when you get it right it is fabulous. Since I bought mine I have swapped movements, put in a gen dial and relumed. $600 into it but I am hoping it will last a lifetime. I am about to give into the Chronomat. I assume Angus' version is the best. Any disagreement before I plunk down the money?
PAM 88 which was bought broken from another forum member. A little lume, the Watchmen cyclops, a revised date wheel amd things will be starting to look real good. Ziggy - I forgot about the lume.
