It is interesting that other forums use lesser cost lower bandwidth services. Our problem appears to be that this forum provides too much bandwidth to users for free. I don't know what dealers pay but I will assume that what Neil say is true and so charging dealers more is not viable. It sounds to me like paying for certain sections is the only way to generate more revenue. The oxymoron is that if you do this some folks will disappear and then we will need less bandwidth. Also if RWG has a fee and TRC doesn't I suspect the traffic at TRC would probably pick up and require more bandwidth. Does TRC have the same problem?
In any case I think modest membership fee for access to certain areas is necessary if ads are not working. But if done here it would have to happen at TRC as well. I suspect that there might be fewer noobs screwing up the dealer transactions as well.
I have never dealt with Craiglist (still trying to figure out what it is), but I would always be more inclined to sell to folks around here. They know what they are buying and if there is aproblem you are hopefully dealing with experienced rep buyers.
More than 50% of the folks here voted in favor of paying for access to all the features of the forum but only 7% contribute. Talk is cheap. People should put up their money voluntarily or I suspect Thomas will have no choice but to restrict acccess to certain portions of the forum to paying members.
I don't have the rep but did see all the Ferrari gens at an exhibition. They have taken the case to new level of finish very elegantly combining brushed with just a glint of polished surface radiating around the top edges of the case. Tread carefully. Then again they are not priced like better PAM reps.
I stand corrected. I didn't think of the 192 because the gen is made of Tantalium. That flaw rules out a rep in my book. But I still would love a titanium GMT.
I have one one the way from Eddie and I had asked that question. He says the case characteristics are 1:1 in all regards. I will let you know when I know.
I travel internationally quite frequently as well. My rule of thumb is one on the wrist and no more than two in a two watch leather case (which is well worn at this point). I carry them in my carry-on (since I virtually never check luggage anymore). On international flights they are looked at quite frequently and complimented as well.
The funny thing is that MBW equivalents are more available than they have ever been. Hell, you can even get your hands on DW Daytonas, custom dials, etc.. These are great times for rep collecting. Bad times for remaining solvent though.
The datewheel may be interchageable with one form of the 2892 but I know it isn't interchangeable with the other so you have to figure out which 2892/3 it is. The reason I know this is that the two different applications I have for PAM's (GMT and Power Reserve) use different datewheels. So I guess it will depend on which form of 2892/3.
By the way if you are sending off the MBW's don't forget to add whatever gen parts you want to add and haven't yet installed and consider a relum. He does a fabulous vintage tritium look with that slight tinge of glow. You're only downside is that it is addictive.
I would be very surprised if you can exchange the 2892 datewheel for a 2824 or visa versa. For that matter, the 2892/3's have two different datewheels that are not interchangeable. The datewheel on the 2892-A2 (Soprad module for power reserve) will not fit on the 2893 and visa versa. You should be able to swap movements if talking about the PAM GMT.
I am sorry to hear it. I have had no problem with my MBW's or any of my confirmed ETA's for that matter. As other folks have already mentioned releasing the keyless works is a very tricky thing. I commend you for attempting it yourself. I gave in quite a while ago and send all my better movements to Ziggy for servicing shortly after receipt. He has serviced everything from 6497's to 2824/36's to 7753's to 2892/3's and they always have performed better than my Asian movements. They sound and feel better too.
On the MBW's they are definitely worth the investment.
