  1. Nice review. Much of what you say holds true for the ti version as well. The clasp does not feel substantial with only one point of contact but it is similar to the gen in that regard and so far has held very well inspite of feeling insubstantial. On the movement, I have not noticed the day date alignment but will take a look. Each model has its own tradeoffs. I was tempted by the SS version but gold markers and hands always scare me as the gold is very rarely the same color or texture as the gen. But on the ti IMHO the case and bracelet does need some light refinishing. Staring at a gen ti shortly after wearing mine I noticed that the gen is darker (but ti does lighten and darken) and has a smoother finish. Hopefully a few minutes with a ti refinishing cloth will take care of that though. Wear it well. These reps are truly dead ringers for the gen.
  2. To the best of my knowledge there are 2 versions. The first one was way overpriced but did have better He valve, screwed in bezel markers, proper AR coat on the crystal, better date font, crisper dial but crappy older Asian 7750 movement. The subsequent version was more appropriately priced with the more updated movement but does have a different dial. It isn't drastically different but the overall dial coloring is a little different (and the AR coat will impact the coloring as well) and the shading on the blue letters is different. I was never clear whether both versions came from the same factory and the later version was just built a little more cost effectively for a lower price point or whether it was produced at the other principal high end PAM rep factory. If you are looking at more than two different dial versions I would guess it relates to different runs by the same factory.
  3. One of the nicest straps I have ever seen. Could you please repost his link. I am too lazy to look but the leather and the thread are an unbeatable combination. But I ain't sewing that strap to any one watch.
  4. Well with all those wrist acoutrements who needs lead weights. For that matter who would need ballasts or counter-ballasts for the two man sub.
  5. Looky, looky: http://perfect-clones.com/pn25301-regetta-...nos-p-1866.html I am loving this. Any thoughts from the guys who own the 212?
  6. Nice shots. I never thought of putting them on the Raiomirs. Great idea.
  7. Looks great. Someone is going to be a very happy camper.
  8. Be forewarned on the Comex's that they are the most difficult to get right. The trickiest part is the case back for all versions. All the existing Comex casebacks are crap compared to the gen so if you are trying to get it aesthetically correct you are going to be doing some heavy engraving. Also on the SD's (if you go that route) the MBW dials are off on the alignment of Certified and Chronometer. For both of those reasons I am converting mine into a White letter SD and zapping the COMEX off the back. The other issue is that nobody actually wear's gen Comex and yet I am surprised at the number of people who know what it is and how rare it is.
  9. Yeah, pics please. By chance I sat next to someone on the train this morning wearing a gen ti GST. I must have stared at it for 10 minutes. IMHO, the rep is fabulous but you definitely want to apply a titanium polishing cloth to even out the finish on the case and bracelet. I actually was debating whether to wear to wear the rep today but decided it is a Daylight day (in honor of the upcoming Finepics datewheels). It would have been amusing.
  10. Definitely ask before you bring the watch. I have never seen an independent refuse to work on them as long as they are ETA's. You can make your life easier if you know of other forum members who live in your area who already use someone. In my own case I concluded I was much happier using established forum folks (Ziggy in my case). Chances are they have worked on whatever watch you are bringing them before and they can also do the aesthetic mods you may be looking for. In many regards reps are more difficult to work with then gens. When you start with a local who you don't know do not start with your favorite rep as you don't know there skills yet.
  11. It looks great. I had seen the movement offered and was wonderig what to do with it. Great idea. Wear that one proudly.
  12. Thanks. I will ultimately get around to the crown and crown guard and with a little bit of luck there will be a solution to improving the date font. The only thing which can't be rectified is the cyclops magnification. I have the better cyclops but there is no way to get the existing one out of the crystal (it is ground in) and the rehaut is too shallow to put in a standard crystal and new cyclops. But I do love the watch.
  13. Agreed. But my daylights and 2893's are ahead in line so it could be a while.
  14. What the tritium or the "simple and unsuspecting item"?
  15. I like the feel of a "gyrating" movement irrespective of size. It is not weight that I can find to be a problem but rather size - especially with watches with large crowns or corwn guards. I often end up with a dent at the bottom of my hand if I don't remember to take them off before working with tools or other activities that utilize alot of hand or wrist movement. I assumed the trend toward differnt metals (ti, tantalum, rhodium) was more about selling more watches than weight.
  16. I would love it in titanium but I would not hold my breath waiting for it. I can't even remember any PAM rep with a solid titanium back. I do hope they come up with a better solution for the markers though. I would love to be proven wrong though.
  17. Ahhh, let the hands glow a little. Now what do you do with Tritium?
  18. Yah baby! Watched Austin Powers with the kids. I'm off to bed. Catch up with you tomorrow. Just remember 8, 0, 4.
