  1. Actually the issue isn't usually about hanging a reproduction of the Mona Lisa on your wall. It is trying to sell it as gen for $200 million. Ultimately, less informed gen buyers should be scared to death about these reps. At some level it isn't fair to them or us. In spite of some silly comments in the thread everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I would never begrudge someone buying the real thing. Many folks here do.
  2. I had forgotten that. Now I remember that fiasco getting one of those gen dials from our unorganized friend.
  3. Funny, I couldn't even remember who Victoria was.
  4. I can comment on some of them. Ubi is certainly around but just plain old very busy and stops by when he can. He is still doing watch projects when he can find the time. I just saw his latest. Lani has physically moved and his job is even more time intensive. I believe Pug spends more time on another forum but is not nearly as prolific as he used to be.
  5. You can fit gen crystal in EL bezel.
  6. I prefer to view it as a noble effort to raise significant funds for RWG where he has been a long term member and had a lot of fun.
  7. Guess it has been a long time. All your individual posts automatically increase to your total posts. And that hasn't changed in years. And in the spirit of good fun and always for a great cause - $325.00
  8. Is it bigger than a breadbox? Seriously, do we bid in this thread?
  9. Sorry to hear it. It sounds like you and Mikki6 came to a mutual agreement and the problem is no response from Domi. Let's just hope Domi is not going the way of many other watchsmiths getting in over their head and being woefully behind. Up until now I had not seen any negative reviews on him. Hopefully he will come back to you.
  10. Hey D- Great watch but nicer to see you spending some time here. Glad to hear school has been going well. - W
  11. He was either in prison or on vacation. In any case, nice to have you back.
  12. Great collection. Wear those well.
  13. Looks absolutely fantastic.I finally gave in and bought one as well. And I don't give in very often.
  14. Thanks for the answer. It all makes sense now. I was trying to figure out how you mount a DD chrono module on an Asian 7750 base. Needless to say again - but absolutely stunning work. And this is coming from someone who has actually built a couple including a rebuild of one of the original half a dozen MBW frankens made a few years ago.
  15. He made both 1.9 and 2.1's and had at least 2 runs. They were originally marketed by Palp but made by Opcrown. Opcrown then marketed a run or two himself in both titanium and ss. I don't remember there being shallow and deep lip but the bevels were certainly different from offering to offering.
  16. I subscribe to the pimple-faced kid theory. These attacks started with the cartel dealers who readily advertise links to the three big forums. So then the forums themselves all get attacked at the same time. Now the dealers who show up on the forums directly are starting to have problems. In truth these attacks have happened from time to time and are pretty inevitable for many sites. It is how you handle them that matters because unfortunately there is little one can do to find the source.
  17. Actually I had heard that Angus was subject to a similar attack as the forum and other dealers so that would explain the inability to access his web site. Everyone has to make their own decisions but many folks (myself included) have bought from dealers while their web site is down. If Angus has already sent you all the info I would not expect to hear from him until you reach out to him or decide to buy. dealers get these requests all day long.
  18. Great recovery as always T. When I saw that all 3 major forums were down yesterday (at least on my computer) and I add those to the huge attacks on the dealers where the forums are mentioned on the front page I begin to smell a conspiracy whether by rival dealers, the federation of Swiss watchmakers or whatever. Then again I may just be paranoid. Most importantly, great to be back.
  19. You have to find someone who has actually handled gen hands. With most watch hands I would guess the hand is simply bent the wrong way (I.e. you can't put the hands on wrong side up either because there is lume on one side and/or the tab where the hand attaches to the pinion allows it to only go one way). I am guessing port hands look the same on both sides. So my guess is bent the wrong way....but it is a guess.
