I am with Tx. If you have to have a specific watch from a specific dealer add $20 for Western Union. Otherwise go elsewhere. If the payment is shown as being debited and yet he hasn't received it I would also cancel it out. That has to be a problem on his side and he should find a new gateway.
Does it really have 6 day power reserve for $108? Do you have one? On the 8 day I thought they were going the way of a traditional 44 hour 6497 and just faking it with plates. But the last pics I saw were almost 2 years ago.
I believe the going rate for a used new case standard Offshore with box and papers in the U.S. is $10 -13K USD or so. Although Sander's build is an exception given all those gen parts - these frankens are normally buildable for $2,500-$3,500 depending on the dial and whether you can find hands, crown and tube.
As far as I know (and I don't know much) if you are looking to add multiple gen parts you are better off with an MBW but depending on the part you want to add other models may be more cost effective.
Known you a long time so I say this with affection...you are not ready for prime time yet. Or at a minimum make sure whoever you are doing knows exactly what your capabilities are. This is coming from someone who can't decide what to have for breakfast never mind how he would like to permanently mark his body.
I have actually reflected on a format and the real issue is that people tend to make stuff up to "fill in the boxes" or don't bother at all. Reps do not lend themselves to consumer reports. Reviews are a labor of love by the reviewer. People always strive to write good reviews but they are coming at it from all different angles. Difficult for someone to call a rep gen like if they don't have the gen. What they can do is point out the aesthetics pictorially to gen, compare to other reps already out there or just give general reviews based on perception. Standardization is almost impossible. People generally do the best that they can with the info, facts, pics and time they have to put it all together. I always welcome an honest review no matter what the quality or content because it provides another data point. If you ever look at a review on the purist forums they are fairly subjective as well. My 2 cents.
Good idea. Don't have one of those but will go with the AP Franken and Ubi's Daytona for a week or two. seriously I still love Panerai's and will always wear them but it still kind of bothers me that it is rapidly becoming the new Breitling for twenty-something's.
Same thing but mid-town.
I bought my first PAM years ago while on vacation in the Carribean - PAM 25. Hadn't ever seen one before and loved it. When I got back to the States I don't think I saw another one for a couple of years. I found the rep forums when I wanted to buy another one and there were so few if any around even in NYC that I searched under Panerai on the internet and the rest is history.
I am surprised they didn't up the size on the Daytona as well. That would make it more of a must have for Daytona collectors. By the way that Rose Gold looks rosier than most plating I have ever seen. from me on the gold color.
Those movements are usually pretty good but there is an element of potluck. The new owner can always get it serviced or ultimately replace the movement with a Swiss one if so inclined.
I did have that thought. And promptly banished it. Since Risti is all about one brand that is just asking for trouble. You are asking people to invalidate the passion of their life. Over here people are more open minded to other brands. In all seriousness, I do love the Panerai watches and will always wear them but I am seeing more and more folks wear them and it is beginning to feel like a standard brand here which it was not as recently as two years ago.
Passe may be the wrong word. But in NYC I am seeing a lot of PAM's and they are on twenty-somethings. They all seem to be getting them. They are pretty damn popular now in the financial services industry over here. There is even enough knowledge that any number of folks who see my Fiddy will actually approach me to tell me what a great watch it is. That has happened literally 4 out of the last 6 times I have worn it in the City. The Fiddy seems to command mucho respect.
