  1. I never went to the Beverly Hills Boutique. I work around 15 min drive from there, I should take a longer lunch and finally check it out.
  2. Awesome review and I totally have to say that this is a best and possibly most accurate rep I have ever held in my hand.
  3. How did I ever miss 36B... very cool, old school movement bridges. As far as the rep goes, if this is in fact the Swiss 6497-1 movement that came with reps in the dark ages, then it is pretty cool. That movement has been running like a champ in my rep for past 7 years and I have 2 spare ones.
  4. Here is some info that may help. http://gunnystraps.blogspot.com/ you can look at the ones in the $90 range http://www.manifattu...nze.it/home.php This place is in Italy, I got a couple small ones from them shipped to US, very nice stuff. You have to pay little extra for 65/110 but it is still low $100's and super nice quality, all hand made. The quality is so nice it will make you cry. I have been wearing their straps for past 7 years. The watchboys short mentioned above is 115/70, that does not work for 6" wrist but you can ask for extra holes if you want strap that long. I have one from them, works ok but not as well as 110/65. I asked for 3 extra holes. That straps works much better with 1950 case not as much with 111. You do need 110/65, especially 65 part is important so the buckle is nicely placed in the middle of your wrist. with 70 or especially 75 it will go way up to the side too much. Now 110 is short so the tip of it will be barely visible when you look at down at your 111 which is nice if you like that. If you got 115/65 or so then the tip of it will be on the side of the strap, that does not work that well with thick straps. Also you can always ask for extra holes. Even with such a short strap like 110/65 I will ask for 2 extra holes. Why? Because the straps wear little different with Luminor and 1950 cases, also the spacing of the holes sometime can vary by makers. Gen Panerai straps are too big for 6" so forget about them and even if you want to punch new wholes they will go through the logo, destroying the value of the strap if you ever choose to sell it. Plus the the straps mentioned above are way better quality then Gen Straps anyway. I'm "little" obsessed with getting stuff that fits perfectly as far as straps so you can trust me on this one. Hope that helps.
  5. Where did you find this? This looks like a really old rep. Could be an old DSN or something.
  6. My wrist is exactly 6" and I also order only custom made straps at 110/65. That size works really well with Luminor 44mm cases as well as 44mm 1950 cases. Listen to Watchmaster says, stay away from deployant buckles for sure, they suck :-) and also don't get the tang buckle that's oversized that some strap makers offer, they are usually the sawn-in ones and way too big for 6" wrists. Standard Panerai buckles size works well. You can get some really nice quality custom straps made for less then $100.
  7. 111 is sandwich, old models were not. I cannot remember at what series they started sandwitch dials. 177 is a really nice choice, the current H fact is great. They are much lighter and therefore more comfortable to wear. They do work well on 6" wrists and up, it also depends on the shape of your wrist. But although big at 44mm the design works well on 6" wrists unlike many other watches.
  8. Or check out 1950 Regatta, gen is based on 7750 so the rep is more accurate as far as the movement goes, much more so then the 3xx series. It's also quite rare. I run into people wearing 3 series all the time, never run into someone wearing 1950.
  9. It's great to see a nice comparison like that. That lume difference is a bummer. Gen looks awesome, you cannot beat it, but it bites that the prices are so insane for a piece with cheap movt. and I don't care how much they decorate it. Different story if you go for a model with in-house movt.
  10. Thanks for the advice guys. I actually went to a local AD during lunch today (a really long lunch). That AD has an insane selection, tried on several models from Jaeger, Glashutte, A. Lange, Anonimo, IWC, even less expensive Maurice Lecroix was pretty nice. Jaeger is still my favorite, Master Compressor series is way too nice and Master Chronograph 2 is just beautiful. And the 46mm JLC Master Compressor Extreme with Alarm just looks and feels insane!!! One watch that I have never seen before did also catch my attention: Maurice Lecroix Pontos Decentrique Phases de Lune http://www.horozima.com/2010/12/maurice-lacroix-pontos-decentrique.html 43mm, quite thick, choice of white and black dial, 7750 movt. heavily modified, sale price $3900.... I'll stick to reps ;-)
  11. Yes there is a titanium version, it's called 351M and it looks really nice. http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/pam351-m-best-edition-on-dark-brown-leather-strap/
  12. mbjoer, yes after looking closer I see all that, those mistakes are way too crazy. Taking them of off my list. Thanks for pointing this out!
  13. That looks really nice. Do you think that movement will last? For that price you cannot go wrong I guess anyway. I did check the Gen out quite not such a long time ago at an AD. It is truly piece of art.
  14. Thanks Gran, I did read your Nautilus review more then once :-) very nice review!!! I noticed on your shots a Glashütte Senator Sixties which is a model I really like, white dial with gold hands. I have not stumbled upon that rep yet. I would be interested to hear where did you get it from. Thanks!
  15. Very cool, I'm looking at the same model but in Stainless Steel. I was checking out the pictures on kuvarsit's site since they are much nicer then our trusted dealers take.
  16. As I am shaking off my Panerai addiction that lasted last 7 years, I'm finally ready to move on and keep only one of them. Plus I have IWC Ingenieur SS rep and Genuine Omega. Since I am attracted to more high end brands in general like Jaeger, A. Lange, Glashutte and Patek, here are some choices I came up with within the rep world. My first and obvious choice is a Nautilus 5711-1A SS Blue Dial. I see that the most recent "1:1" version comes with the newer SW200-1 movement. I'm looking at this one here: http://www.puretimew...t-edition-sw200 I don't really have any questions as far this model, looks like a no brainer to me and I will be getting one. All my questions between the lines are about movements, I'm hoping to have them last as I keep watches for a long time. Another model that I am finding pretty attractive is this one: http://www.kuvarsitw...roduct_id=31135 JAEGER LE-COULTRE DUOMETRE RETROGRADE POWER RESERVE I would of course get it from one of our trusted dealers so I'm only posting this link due to pictures being much nicer then our dealers take. I know it is not accurate to the Gen at all, but I don't really care cause it looks really cool. I have a question about the movement, it says it is a Seagull that I'm guessing is pretty good? Could anyone please comment on that. Another one that I like is this one http://www.kuvarsitw...roduct_id=30953 that looks like a rep of A. Lange 1815, I know this one is also inaccurate, does not bother me. My question is again about the movement, if anyone could please comment. I read another users review on this one as well so outside of the movement I do not have any other questions. Two more that I'm liking quite a bit are: http://www.yourtrust...products_id=703 with Lemania/Venus Hand Wind Chronograph, is that a good movement? I'm guessing it is pretty decent. Another one that I think looks very elegant is this one: http://www.kuvarsitw...roduct_id=30325 Now it's all Turkish on this page but from what I can decipher it looks like a copy of Venus movement, 17 Jewels, 50 hours power reserve. Google translate is not doing to good of a job with that text. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. As a summary, I will definitely get the Nautilus and probably 2 out of other 4 later. Thanks a lot!!!
  17. There is really no point picking on it, it's a really nice rep and a best rep of 111 you can buy today anyway. Great choice for a first Panerai.
  18. Thanks for posting that. It's interesting to see the differences. No reason to be pointing them our of course. The rep's movt. looks nice, only an Gen Collector or Rep collector could really tell the difference, but one would never ask you to take your watch off to look at the movement.
  19. Yes, that review was super good. I will be ordering mine as well.
  20. Looks very nice, congratulations on a great piece!
  21. The overall quality is really good with an exception of only one thing; crown guards levers, in my opinion they are horrible!! They feel cheap and fake, you could never let anyone touch it. One thing to note that really gives this one away as a rep in a split second is the distance from the bottom of the lever to the crown guard. Look at the profile picture, the huge space between the bottom of the lever and the crown guard is just insane. Gen's are really tight in that area and there is no empty space where in rep it's just way off. Not all reps have that issue so definitely I would look at that.
  22. That's cool. Thanks for the info. You don't see the white face models around nearly as much as others
  23. Thanks Calatrava, As a matter of fact now that I looked really closely at the pictures I noticed in a closeup that the latest one added has SW200-1 http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/nautilus-5711-ss-blue-dial-11-best-edition-sw200/ I like the fact that he has dates that show when the watch was added to the site so you can have an idea if this is a newer or older model. From reading your posts I see that you are Patek expert. I decided to finally get away from Panerai, only keep one, and move towards more high end brands like Patek, A.Lange, JLC etc, as it suits me better at this time. In any case, I see that this particular Nautilus on Puretime's site looks like a best deal and the fact that it uses a movement that's actually many other Gen brands use and charge thousands if pretty cool for a rep. Thanks!!
