  1. 390 inside a Ti case is a brilliant idea. Congratulations!!!
  2. Ahh, cool... that's good it's a gen strap. Not sure if it would really damage it a lot if you punch through existing holes, I have never done it. I only added holes. Hopefully you end up with a good solution.
  3. That sounds really good. I have also noticed with my new 390 that the quality is really good these days. Black Seals are super nice and yours looks really, really good. Looks like it's safe to get it then.
  4. Correct, this is an E series that I think dates back to 2004. They did not use brushed CG's back then since they started with G which I think was 2006. BTW, the price is too high as well.
  5. I recently purchased this punch set. It works really well and you can make standard Panerai shape holes. http://watchbitz.com...8;productId=276 - rwg forum members get a very good discount as well. Also that strap does not look like a genuine OEM Panerai strap at all (hope I'm wrong). I have never seen small round holes in any Panerai strap.
  6. Great choice, my favorite base at the moment.
  7. Any local watchmaker can adjust that in a couple of minutes, happened to me once with a PAM rep and a local place did take care of it for free.
  8. Looks super nice!! I wonder how good the crown and stem threads are these days in BS models. In the old days when the first Black Seal came out which was around 2005, the threads were made out of very soft metal so they would wear out completely after a couple of years of use. I still have one with dead crown and nice Swiss movement that's stored away just in case I need the movement one day. In comparison the threads in my 2006 IWC Ingenieur rep still have many years to go. So hopefully this new BS is made way better.
  9. That's true, it can easily run for few years. As a matter of fact I have one 6497 rep that I never serviced and it still runs well after 6 years (lucky). Another serviced runs well after 7 years and keeps much better time. I recently sent my brand new 390 to get serviced since I intend to keep this model. Some parts of the movement were over-oiled , some were completely dry , case lamps were incorrect size, had to be replaced. The dial clamps were not secured properly. The dial was loose on the movement and had to be secured. Rep factories, really don't pay much attention to the movement assembly. So despite the fact your unserviced movement can run ok for quite a while, if you really want to keep that awesome rep I think it's worth getting a proper service
  10. It really depends, it could run for a while or not, depends how badly it was put together and that varies a lot. The biggest issue is that they may put too much lubricant into some parts and not enough into other parts, sometime they won't do it at all, but usually it is not done properly. Plus I'm guessing they are not using finest Swiss lubricants. Think of the movement like it's a car engine, what will happen if you don't take care of it? Those rep movements really need to be all completely taken apart, cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaning tank, all parts inspected to make sure they are all good (sometimes they are not), then assembled and lubricated to the specs of the movement. And of course then they need to be adjusted and timed etc. The good thing is you you need to service mechanical movement not as often as your car, they should be serviced every 5 years to ensure they have a long life.
  11. 1. Dropping the watch on the floor. 2. Not servicing it. Honestly, service it and it will run with ho hiccups for many years. You should really not over think this stuff too much. 6497 is a simplest movement to service for an expert watch-master and very reliable.
  12. That's a horrible crap, someone should report this scam.
  13. As far as 111, this is as close to the Gen as you can get today. What you see in those pictures and the video is what you get. If you are planning to have this watch to be your very long term every day piece just make sure you service it once you get it. Reps don't come properly oiled out of factories.
  14. Looks very nice, especially with that strap. Mine is on its way back from The Zigmeister as well. Can't wait to wear it.
  15. That is very impressive, I love it. Congrats on the super Genstein... awesome name too.
  16. Your response is very immature, and makes me feel very sorry for you. I have been dealing with Gen Models way before you were even able to spell Panerai. And if you cannot see the flaws, that's great for you. Time to get some Gen glasses.
  17. at first it looked exciting but then I looked a bit closer and in comparison to let's say 390 that only has 3 flaws, this one has more then 10. And both are from H factory. I'd say that this one being newer is a huge step back in accuracy. Main lume font is too thin. Name font is too thin and also has inconsistent spacing between letters. Especially word Marina is pretty bad. CP is wrong, crown does not look right, lever tip shape is off, CG pin is incorrect, bottom of the lever spacing is still off. Strap lugs are way off, the back is completely incorrect, etc. 390 had only 3 issues out of he ones listed. So I wonder why they would pay so much less attention to details this time. That said, this is still a really nice rep worth considering.
  18. Wow, that is really super nice with all those mods. Looks great!!!
  19. Very nice, looks great. I should be getting my 390 from The Zigmeister soon, very excited about that. What does the Incabloc mod do? I missed that whole debate.
  20. Yes. I totally agree. 390 in Titanium would look amazing. One member here posted pics when he swapped cases. It looked really awesome.
  21. Ahh.. that's very cool. Wouldn't have guessed, now I have looked at the serial. Very cool idea since there are no decent reps of those.
  22. That is super sweet, I was actually thinking of asking TD for a custom build in a Pvd case and 390 dial.
  23. Looks great with that strap. What is the story behind the 114? Your custom build?
  24. Wow, this is really nice. I must admit that I have not seen this one before. Where did you get it from if I may ask?
