  1. Are you sure there are Panerai versions? Maybe those cheap panerai chronos that watch eden sells have them but I've not seen one not even a custom one. I think there are plain ones on ebay. You'd be best of get one done yourself.
  2. PeteM yep you got me there. I think its an age thing or just the PAM curse. But as mas6002 its a pretty special watch and there is something about it. I've seen 2 Gens and you really can't help but stare at them as they are really eye catching. The combo of carbon dial and bling out gold is a hit in my book. Try it you might like it.
  3. I'd Like one to the best person capable of one would be Rollie if it was at all possible. There are a few Gold Luminor cases which would be a place to start, I have actually thought about this alot. You need a carbon fiber dial they are around just hard to come by, not massively expensive either, the trouble is the Reps are silver battoned and not gold, or just plain like this the other issue is they are for manual wind only so it would be missing the date. and then finally the case back needs to be a solid one and gold, I reckon that would be near impossible So in a nutshell you could make a fantasy version but that would be it. Shame really as It would make a nice change from the steel versions ST4
  4. Regardless of rarity, and you can justify it all you like gentlemen and what people do with their money is their own affair, but frankly its obscene but I'm sure all the old school daytona owners out there are very pleased with this news
  5. I think the BR's PVD is top notch stuff the one I had, though never really roughed up seemed really durable and was very gen like. I wish I'd have kept mine as they are really individual watches I should of got it on some leather, as it would of been a keeper then. Only real bad thing is the lume which is non existent.
  6. I think you've really set a high standard there. Those Rolex Chronos are really stunning
  7. I don't think they are significantly larger than your average panerai but I've never tried one on for size. I've small wrists and I'm a 44mm fan. Perhaps you could find an AD and try one on. The quality of the rep is supposed to be fantastic so I'm sure you'll enjoy it as much as the Tag if not more
  8. That's certainly a colourful strap collection you've got yourself there. I'm not sure that I could pull off the flower strap but it looks to be good quality.
  9. Some people simply have far too much money and too little sense -------------------------------------------------- The World Of Rolex Collectors Just Got A Bit Crazier – A $469,809.24 Rolex Oyster Cosmograph ‘Paul Newman’ N A number of watch auctions took place in Geneva last week, Sotheby’s had one on Sunday the 14th and Christies on Monday the 15th. At least with the auction over at Sotheby’s on Monday, the world of collecting vintage Rolex watches has become a little bit crazier than it already was. Estimated at 60,000 – 80,000 Swiss Francs, this ca.1969 Rolex Oyster Cosmograph Daytona ref.6239 with discolored brown dial was hammered at 464,500 CHF (which is $469,809.24 USD at the time of writing). A collector must have thought this Daytona was worth almost half a million dollars because of the discolored dial, the unusual dial print and the condition of the watch. The case and bracelet were (still) unpolished and therefore in original condition. As with all vintage Rolex Oyster Cosmos, the movement is far from being interesting (based on a Valjoux 72) but it is mainly about condition, rarity and whether a watch comes complete with box and papers or not. Personally, I really love this brown dial with white sub-dials and red printed minute markers on the outside of the dial. It is one of the nicest Daytona dial combinations out there. Like all vintage Daytona watches, this watch has a diameter of only 37mm. When you see a vintage Daytona for the first time, you might even overlook it when it is sitting in between its 40mm friends. More information about this Sotheby’s lot 104 can be found here. On the Vintage Rolex Forum, you can find a report on the Geneva auction with lots of pictures (click here).
  10. Thats one classy looking watch, did it come in that box as well?
  11. Time for a change so Be bold and brave and make a statement I reckon you could pull it off .
  12. Hard to tell on the Crackberry but poss Gen me thinks or a very very good dial more details please
  13. BAM that packs a punch and a half. Sweet watch wish my postie would drop something like that off
  14. Don't worry it be that cockney banter of his. Taka is a RG member responsible for some very nice date wheels, apparently he may be making some to fit the 312 you want. unfortunalyt they wont be available until after the christmas holidays,
  15. Great pictures and good to hear its as good as it looks, despite the strap being too short you seem impressed by the quality , do I assume yours is not the $140 croc version? How do you find the clasp, does that shut nice and tight?
  16. Couldn't agree more , I just don't get it I always preferred the old show on the BBC2 in fact Fifth gear would be my car show of choice. I'd be keen to see the USA just for the chance to see some Infinitis & Acura as well as the performance Jap/Korean cars that are purely in the USA.
  17. FxrAndy you da Man. But I'm totally confused. Surely the date wheel is circular and goes to the bottom so all we need is an overlay for the numbers to pint down. I had one of the copy 2892's in a BellandRoss I think they are slimmer. So do you think the subdial spacing is suitable for the Tudor. It still amazes me they bought this out and not the heritage that would of be top place on my christmas list. Those prices you mention are pretty steep. Hope they bulked up on the order. The VC aint cheap but its got the bling factor. So we are probably looking at 500+ at least for the Heritage. Yikes HBB all over again.
  18. Now thats quite a collection there WOW
  19. Well I guess mines not one of those then. I wonder where my Officne originated from constructionwise. One of the mysteries surrounding rep Building I guess, something that's untraceable.
