I'm working on a franken Navy and I'm a little confused about the color of the date window. On the pics of the gen it looks like it's black. On the rep it's dark blue though which actually makes more sense because all the rest is also blue. Anybody know what it should be? Stupid me, I had one in my hands about 3 weeks ago.

I have done this mod 3 times and working on 2 other projects right now. It's not an easy mod. One of the hardest parts is creating the date overlay. You have to shave down a date disc to 0.13mm or less. To finish the 3 I did so far I used 7 date discs because they are so easy to screw it up. So if you do this mod for the first time, I would at least order 3 discs or more.

Thanks for the comments guys! It's not a daily beater but for once in a while it's a funny watch. Since the gen tachyring is lower than the rep, I had to create a 1,25mm shim to lift the tachyring from the case. For the movement mods you can look here Well.... it was actually a rainy sunday afternoon project Unfortunately the old-style case will not fit the sec @ 12 movement. -

Like this. I like the ss bezel better but doesn't have a spare one left at the moment. Will change it later. -
Well it will be very hard to find a gen dial for it. In this setup the date window will not work because it's not alligned. I'm also curious how you solved the issue with the hand sizes. The rep hands are 1.20mm and 2.00mm and the movement uses 0.90mm and 1.20mm hands. Can you let us know?

Quite some time I have a gen red dial with tachyring laying around and today I decided to build me another AP. I used a sec @ 12 movement and case and modded it so that it fits the gen dial and tachyring. I'm not sure about the red but at least it's something you don't see everyday Cheers! -
It's going to be a very nice one. One thing,.... one of the chrono hands should be white instead of blue

Gen Parts Audemars & Vacheron inquiry

Thanks for the update -
Yes, you need a conversion kit to go from bracelet to strap. I used a seconds @ 12 kit for the blue dial and an AP kit for the Black Themes. Although it was tough, I finally managed to make it work. I also had the Barrichello with a gen strap and that was an easy fit. So I guess each strap is a little different. If I'm not mistaken the sec @ 12 kit does work with the MBW case so I would go for the complete set (strap + deployant + conversionkit) from one of our dealers. (about USD 90) I have no idea how the quality of the AP bands are.

Yes, both dials are gen. It's really funny how things can turn out. Since I didn't received the right tachyring in time, I installed a black one for the time being. Now I love it so much that I decided to leave it this way. It looks really great with the black pushers, crown and strap I think. Maybe my second one gets the blue tachyring though

I have a franken blue one and a franken black themes. For some reason I wear the blue one way more than the black themes. Also when I show both watches to my friends, everybody pics the blue one as the better looking one. Unfortunately it's very hard (at least for me) to take a good pic of the dial so that you see the real beautiful colour. In real life it's way better looking than on the pics. Just some pic to compare them PS: I'm building a second blue one right now

Wow, very interesting

yes, all the parts are exchangeable. I have made one. If you also want to paind the hands red, be aware the that lume is green on the rubberglad and not white as on the montnapoleone. I'm not sure how that will look.

the 7750 is 24,6 and the 2824 is 23,3 So it seems like you got the 7750. Cheers, Sander

Hmmm... I might be wrong but as far as I know, it's not that easy to rhodium plate stainless steel.

I think this gen ROO is having some bezel problems too!
sander replied to sander's topic in The Audemars Piguet Area
Heeee now we are talking mate! Just like Sql_pl said, the gen has a gold bezel with a rubber coating. For some reason they removed the coating. I think it looks terrible now with the sticking out screws and crystal. -

Looks terrible. First of all I see a seconds @ 9 movement and also the case is not a seconds @ 12 model. What about that crown? -
