It certainly looks good, not sure about the wear (I can barely see it from the pic) the graining certainly looks gen croc on that pic, it may be very thinly layered croc hopefully it holds up well and is just part the breaking in process....usually rep croc straps look awful and obvious, that one looks pretty good for a change.
-
Yep it's best to accept that one I had a look at the other pics, been a busy day but got a good look in anyway, honestly there wasn't much to say other than "accept", everything looks fine. I wouldn't worry about the slightly recessed pearl, that's as good as you can get. There's no perfect rep pearl and with these version 5 PO's they've improved but they still are either slightly recessed or slightly protruding, I'd rather have the slightly recessed version as it is less obvious than the other. When I first looked at the pics I thought the crown was slightly domed, but on a relook it has a sticker on it...it is fine. Also the timing, yes reps range from anything from -30 secs pd to +30 secs pd. That one looks perfect...don't expect it to be exactly within cosc or anything as they don't do that to reps and there will be slight variation in real life conditions compared to the timing machine but that looks as good as you could wish for. Don't usually worry about timing anyway as they are easy enough to regulate yourself with a bit of practise, I'd never reject anything on timing unless it was severally off. Enjoy!
-
Looks great wetwork, I think you got a good one there, can't see any real issue at all, the timing looks perfect aswell. If anyone else can see anything I'm missing then please let us know?

I'll get back with a little more detailed reply in a bit as in a rush Watch looks great on first look, everything in the right place ....good He position, markers straight, best logo cut I've seen in a while, also pearl seems pretty damn good, a little low maybe but well centered and as good as you'll get. Watch looks good, if you want you can PM me the link to the other pics and I can go through them in a bit more detail later on...I know Josh asks not to post pics on the forums. Don't worry too much about that Also just to add, qc pics usually look a little bland as above, so don't worry if a watch looks a bit drab in comparison to some of the magazine quality photos you'll see forumites put up for some reviews. Qc is really just to see if everything is in the right place place.

Hmm, maybe you're right, I ordered this one from Josh last week so will let you know when i receive: http://www.1-pc8838.com/iw00109-mark-ssle-a2892-p-11756.html It seems you might be right, maybe Chrgod can let us know, there seemed to be an update to the model around a month after his review was put up? Hence the lack of antimag cover on his?. I honestly thought all were the same except for croc strap and clearer colourless AR on the dearer one. It seems it's this verses this: http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/mark-xvi-ss-11-edition-black-dial-on-black-leather-strap-a2892/ http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/mark-xvi-ss-11-black-dial-on-genuine-black-croco-leather-strap-a2892/

Lol, you might be better off going with josh, he is quick isn't he In fairness to Trevor I think he is one of the very few dealers that maintains a trusted dealer status across all the main rep fora, so he must be doing something right.....what it is I don't know...tis the prices methinks. Anyway good luck on your hols, you'll enjoy the watch when you receive it, btw cheers for the avatar Update: the avatar doesn't seem to be changing for me, when it's done and it goes in it looks great, then it disappears again as soon as I leave my profile...ah I'll have a look at it later...maybe my cookies need refreshing or something. Update again: Ah save to desktop and upload did the trick, direct link didn't work for me..cheers!
-
Yep, It is identical I think to the one that chrgod reviewed, the difference between this and the previous version that was on offer @ $228 is the gen croc strap and the AR has been improved (I think)!

Are you over on RWI....pugwashes tutorial is over on RWI with pics, not sure if it will help but heres the link: http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/planet-ocean-bezel-18993.html?t=18993&highlight=Planet+Ocean+Bezel+Construction

That's a cool profile pic , thanks! tbh I never even thought of one, must figure out how to put it in later. Just to add, don't think the cheapo one will take eta without some serious mods, slight differences to movement spacers inside the case and a few other very minor unnoticeable things, slightly different hand stack etc. The cheapo one is fine for a purchase out of the box without mods, any even slight mod such as gen crown later (which a lot of people recommend) then the eta or eta clone is the only way to go. Yep those vids are crude but funny and very true at times, the part about 'where's my tracking number' before even getting the post office is a rep forum classic No prob, probably the best option, hope things work out fine. It's Chinese NY pretty much at this stage (or soon) so there will be a delay with everything for a few weeks now. Plenty of time to read up on what other reps you want
-
Great review Adeodatus, thanks for updating us, looks like a fine rep apart from some minor mishaps, I have to say the croc strap looks really good with a nice grain on it....which is surprising
-
I picked it up from a dealer known as replicamake...now no longer deals on the forums due to poor response to customers. The watches are all the same from any of the dealers, main thing is to find a dealer you want to deal with and check the qc pics thoroughly.

Wetwork is right, the He valve is the same on all models you listed, the only difference is the movement. The DG4813 is just a cheaper chinese clone of a japanese myiota movement. Certain not as good as the jap movement and these cheaper asian 21j movement can be very hit and miss, some people have awful problems with them other people find them great...do a search on asian21j movements and you'll see. Personally I've never had an issue with them and they can be great workhorse movement. I have a shitttty tag heuer rep from 1997 bought on canal st in ny with a DG2813 movement that's still running fine The casing is the same as the ETA PO, if you don't want to outlay a huge amount then go with the Dg4813. The asian eta clone @ $188 is cheap enough though not to be too stressed about the extra and you also have the option if you want to franken the watch in the future. Just to clarify a little on the He valve-gate.......the only reason there was any mention of 'correct He valve' on Trevors post is that not so long ago there was a factory mess up and 'some' PO's were produced and released into the wild with a low positioned He valve, and a sort of oddly shaped crown....that issue seems to be resolved now and we are back to normal, however some dealers on some forums might have the old stock lying around. The thing is to reject any oddly shaped He position should you be unlucky enough to see an old one when you receive QC pics. Afaik for a while Trevor was one of the dealers who many went to to be sure they had the correct He and not one of the factory duds.

OMEGA 1120 movement may be bulletproof, but not waterproof

Lol! As it's not salt water than there's always a chance, it is going to take some major work though. -
Good stuff, he'll get back to you in due course, any issues with the qc pics or just want opinions let the forum know, always question something if it looks off in qc pics, that's the time to do it, not after receiving the package, after that and all looks good then should be good to go. We are running into Chinese new year soon so hopefully it's approved and posted before that hits, or else there will be a delay in post getting to you but you'll still get it in time. You'll enjoy it! Here's a good vid about the rep buying process, it comes from a mod on repgeek but still funny: (It's more applicable to rep enthusiasts trading between each other than the dealers but still funny...and so true) nsfw http://www.xtranorma...g-a-watch-on-rg actually this is another good one: http://www.xtranormal.com/watch/8321990/how-not-to-buy-a-watch-from-our-dealers?page=2 I hope I didn't offend you Tan, andrew is a fine dealer, I've no issues with him.

Hi wetwork, you got your response from Trevor and yes that's a good price(make sure you ask for QC pics on purchase)...best I've seen on these. The thing is now don't over analyse the process, it works, somehow it does, otherwise they wouldn't be in business, (and overall it dwarfs any the mafia ever engaged in ) Once you get through the QC process and get hold of the watch just enjoy it for what it is, don't expect Omega level of reliability, some reps will fail, most will last many many years. The forums are here if you need help or assistance. I'm not saying it's you but the thing is, some people will try reps and expect way too much, these will be the ones who end up disappointed and should probably go and buy a seiko quartz , on the other hand if willing to accept that there will be an occasional mishap (such as the short stem on vandals watch in thread below) or that the occasional movement will fail in three days....and continue then you can be rewarded with a great hobby which reaps great rewards....and lot of great looking watches for a fraction of the price of the genuine article. Just to add, if you have doubts and not sure you are willing to outlay $268 quid on a rep right off the bat and would rather test the waters first then you could do much worse than buy the cheapest a21j version of these (DG4813 version) as bamcky suggested in another thread: http://www.rwg.cc/to...ost__p__1057798 Trevor would probably be able to get you one of those at around $100, the finishing is exactly the same as the swiss eta or asian eta it just can't be frankened. An outlay of $100 dollars would hardly break the bank and it would give you an idea whether it's worth continuing in the rep game. I don't think there's any point doing a true gen 'features' list vs rep features list and trying to replicate every little minute detail of a gen, that level of detail is rarely accomplished in this business...sure there are superreps, many at huge expense and most still need to be frankened/modded to pass the 10x loupe test of ocd replica fans, just look at the prices of an mbk rolex submariner rep just as a starting point as a base for modding/frankening with gen parts. Very easy to get into huge ocd with this game very quickly. The reality is in real life, and not on the forums only a very small fraction of the public could tell the difference between a cheap $150 cheap noob sub rep and an $8K gen sub. ........what's the moral of the story.... do your research on the forums about what looks like a half decent rep, buy a few and enjoy them as they are, they will look a million times better than the average market/canal st type rep, they will also look much better than a $200 seiko or citizen...and don't sweat the small details

Probably a keyless works issue, like kbh said above, possibly caused by pressing a little too hard on the stem release button. Not sure if the issue was there beforehand, as the stem would not have stayed in at any stage if the keyless works were shot. At this stage, it'll probably have to go back, unless you can get a watchmaker to reset the keyless. I wouldn't be too distraught, as you said it's disappointing but that's the way it works with reps, the short stem however have been caught by the dealer at qc stage, and press this issue...in addition to getting the watch repaired or replaced you may get some recompense, such as a discount off a future purchase etc. Best of luck.

Tan, Andrew is the same deal as Josh...they are one and the same (not the same person but the same outfit) ....no difference. And the watch above you posted above with pics is a Narikka (Porikka), ....nothing wrong with it per-se but highly inaccurate in terms of details, and it is a backwards step here. Also charging similar prices to Narikka himself would be a bit rich for a 2nd hand watch....if you don't mind me saying...No offence intended. I would go with the very cheap DG4813 V5 listed on the other (tolis) thread before I'd go with a Porikka these days. Reason I mentioned trevor in the first place was wetwork was looking for value, and trevor is where it's at...same watch as all the other suppliers, just cheaper and a few delays in the mix but he'll get the watch. But in reality if we want things to operate with any semblance to a US website shop then Josh or andrew is where to go.
-
I have to say I had one of these and wore it happily for years, faux chronos and alll.... there is a nice dome to the crystal on these and the quartz and the watch looks good on the wrist, sure the main hand moves, doesn't really matter, none of the moony reps are gen accurate anyway, but these make a great beater,...nice find!

Seriously, this is China we are dealing with, and it's an illegal counterfeiting operation, they don't go to the bother of maintaining or beautifying websites. The also don't bother to keep a translating team on hand for us Also they've got a massive customer base much bigger than those they provide for on the net. Trevor will get back to you, possibly within a couple of days! (Can you see now why josh charges more) As said earlier Trevor is one that deals through email, once you contact him and are serious about buying he will provide you with the steps. The reason some of the details of watches are just lifted from other sites, well they are all the same watches, someone else went to the bother of listing the details, ....not worth changing a good thing Also part of the reason that the names Ultimate this and that are there is customers (Us!) make that way, for instance a version comes out and it's called version 4, the someone kindly names it a 'UPO' as it was the ultimate at the time. Then in the future (now) there is an update to that ultimate PO and it is called 'new updated UPO with new dial without happy feet version 5. It just gets out of hand recently someone coined the term V5.5...which it really wasn't it was just a version 5 but it nearly caught on. Reading the forums will keep you updated with the terminology, don't expect to pick it up in a day or two. I do wish sometimes that dealers would simply remove listings of watches that are no longer available or produced anymore, that would filter it down a little at least. The only thing you have to worry about (and this applies to 42mm and 45mm) is look at the dial in pics: happy feet = not the latest and greatest....No happy feet = the latest and great ultimate super duper version.

Agreed, there are no dealers doing Asia eta PO's @ $310, that will be the swiss eta, asia eta clone will generally be $50 less. I don't see how they are making it so complicated
-
Actually just to add before I go There's also the option of Trevor if looking for value, trevor time: His site is a bit of a mess but works all the same, he usually deals via email: http://trevorwatch.v...lections/page2/ Watch is here: http://v.yupoo.com/p...albums/4142135/ He has the asian eta clone at $188 which is the cheapest I've seen, he might be able to get you the swiss @ $248 if you ask him. I would still go with the eta clone whoever you go with, no point paying the extra for swiss eta.
-
This forum section can be a little slow at times, it's all panerai this, panerai that these days. lol, The regulars hop in and out eventually! I think puretimes one was $288 right for swiss eta ? http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/planet-ocean-42mm-ultimate-edition-blackwhite-on-ss-bracelet-eta2836/ also tony (asian7750) was $288 swiss eta? asian eta clone was $50 cheaper on both, not sure if we are seeing same page. Josh PC is $318 for swiss and $268 for asian clone. Josh charges more cos he is the daddy ......not too sure if he will give you a discount but try anyway Other dealers might have it a little cheaper, check around not sure what Toro on repgeek does them for. Anyway best of luck let us know how it goes!

Lol, people just love to be overwhelmed by options...and then they just throw a tantrum and abstain from buying at all, only to come back to it in the future and decide the best option is to go with something completely different from somebody else simply because the first time they tried just wrecked their head....lol. I would love to say I bought that from any of the above dealers but to make matters even more confusing I actually bought it from a dealer last year called lay (replicamake) who is now banned from dealing on the forums, due to slowness in dealing with customer support etc.....how's that to throw a spanner in the works Saying all that the watch works fine I would go with Perfect clones, I saw qc pics over on repgeek (other forum) today of one 42mm version and it is pardon the pun 'perfect'. He is fast, he gives good qc pics and offers decent aftersales support etc, most people are recommended to go here on first purchases as it is fairly seemless. Also bear in mind we are approaching Chinese new year soon so that's gonna delay everything from moving with any dealer for a few weeks so take you time
-
Good idea kbh, never thought of that
-
No they are both the same size, just the rep is leaning lower slightly and the photo just enhanced that...the case size is exactly the same, the rep can take gen parts so it has to be.
