PC has them aswell @ 228, I assume this is exactly the same Great stuff, and great review, looking forward to getting my hands on one of these, a few complaints that there is no AR on it on another forum, but dealers and yourself say it's on it but one sided as gen, can you confirm? Definitely looks like AR on it from the vid. Thanks again.!

I must say tab, that looks pretty damn close to gen in those pics, if they sorted out the very minor issue with the logo and brand name it would be perfect...either way it still looks superb.

Looks great sgtguk, you got a good one, congrats! -
Did I buy a really good PO fake? Hope it's Gen

Yep worth sorting out the warranty card issue if you can for the sake of completion, wouldn't be the first time an AD/grey dealer would've handed out wrong cards by accident. The card would complete the package. At the end of the day though, the warranty card is of no real value if the 3 years are up, after that you would be paying for service and warranty cards are of no practical use. Also if the watch is grey, (which it probably is) then the warranty card is of no use either as you would be paying for service within the initial 3 year period also(they don't warranty repair grey market). There used to be the case where Omega themselves would rectify a genuine card mismatch free of charge, but now they charge something like £80 for the service of sorting mismatched cards out ...or so I've heard. In truth the warranty card (outside of the 3 year warranty period) is only really useful for resale purposes. A lot of AD's talk about Omega not even looking at a watch without a matching card but it is simply not the case, Omega will only need the card for actual warranty repair, aside from that they will look at anything without a card (even grey market) as you would be paying through the nose for the privilege. That's the beauty of their $500ish service fee! -
Somebody please rep the new Broad Arrow 321.10.44.50.01.001
cougar1 replied to ninjagaiden's topic in The Omega Area
Yeah that's quite nice, no good reps and doubtful there will be one, such a pity. The factories only concentrate on the big guns that will sell best, i.e. the PO etc ....even then it's a wait to get those right. There used to be a white dialed broad arrow years ago that was quite a good rep (now discontinued) ....we haven't seen a good one since. Almost all the speedy based reps are a bit of a disaster unfortunately. I'd say get the UPO and go with some of the other good reps, the speedy date is quite a good one if that appeals but I wouldn't hold my breath for the one above. I'm still waiting for them to perfect the Aqua terra range, and we've moved on a generation of gens since then -
Did I buy a really good PO fake? Hope it's Gen
cougar1 replied to HollyW00d's topic in The Omega Area
That's gen, everything externally is perfect, so unless it is a completely thorough franken including case and caseback (I'll eat my own PO if it is!) then you can assume its gen. You should be able to tell by the winding, the 2500 co-ax (2892 based) winds buttery smooth, much more smoothly and more precise than the 2824 usually used in reps. Also if you look at the sweep, you might not be able to spot it but at 7bps it staggers slightly compared to the smoother sweep on a 2824. -
Pity as I found him to be one of the better dealers, it seems as if he is having communication problems and some issues resolving things with some customers, hope it's just a blip, there are plenty of customers still perfectly satisfied with his service. Even though he has been put off the trusted dealer lists I still wouldn't worry too much if you have an outstanding order with him. It's not like he's done a bunk and disappeared into thin air with everyones cash or anything. For future orders though it would possibly be better to keep an eye on what happens next while buying from another dealer.
-
Didn't know that, thanks for the info, must check out what he did, surprised as in the past he seemed to be fairly helpful and patient with his customers...then again, wouldn't be the first time we've seen a dealer mess up his business on the fora.

I saw the qc pics of yours in the other thread...looks nice, logo and writing perfect. The pearl is just one of those things...you might be able to get somebody to 'improve' it but in my experience rep omega smp pearls have never been right, and even with modifications they still never quite look like the gen, this goes for all smps and PO's. The best thing is not to get too hung up about it....(easier said than done, I hate rep pearls with a passion!) but even if its off centre, at least if its fairly non protruding or zit like then they can be at least bearable. The only alternative really is a gen bezel. Yours on the qc pics looks not too bad, better than many of the older ones. I'd say wait until you have a look at in the flesh before deciding if its really worth modding or buying a gen bezel.
-
Yep low pearl is an issue with every 5th gen 45mm PO unfortunately, the 42mm are a little better with centering in that regard! At least from the qc pics the pearl looks neat and small, and everything else looks pretty good..... nice watch...you could do alot worse!
-
Lol, Love it! Once you've beaten the [censored] out of all 5 you'll be still able to salvage enough working parts for a least two good ones!
-
Agree with Noel, it's still a nice watch, the applied lettering and logo may not be as nicely done as the old painted version but the old version is as rare as hens teeth these days. Try look for the newer one on qc where the lettering is at least joined through the centre similar to Omega gens, some have it joined at the bottom and it looks like 'Qmega' rather than Omega. As far as the correct logo goes, I believe these still all have happy feet unfortunately and this was never rectified!?! Still a nicely finished watch though.

Need Help Finding Best Version Of Po 42Mm Please!
cougar1 replied to sgtguk's topic in The Omega Area
Hmm, I kinda get what you are saying now, I was reading another forum thread and apparently the latest 42mm production run (last few weeks) have a few issues that the previous run didn't. As you say the He valve is off position and also the dial logo has now gone back to it's old spot, directly on top of the lettering and many have no serial.....these all seem to be a related to factory control issue lately and hopefully it will be sorted out soon, I would say almost all new production with all the dealers is probably affected and these models should be avoided or rejected for a few weeks until things get back in order. The alternative is to email around the dealers and see if anyone has old stock left over from before this issue started. Pity about that, especially if you need to get your hands on one quickly,....you need real patience in this game -
Need Help Finding Best Version Of Po 42Mm Please!
cougar1 replied to sgtguk's topic in The Omega Area
tbh, they are all the same now, as the older ones, i.e. 4th gen are impossible to find, the current 5th gen 42mm is available from all the dealers so as for who is the best, make your decision on price and service...i.e. best quality qc pics etc. The only thing I would say is don't fear rejecting a particular offering again and again if not happy, make sure you are satisfied with the one chosen by the dealer before proceeding. With the 42mm PO there shouldn't be too much qc problems as they are pretty good out of the box, but some pearls are better positioned than others and make sure the dial markings are not crooked. Saying all that you could hardly go too far wrong with one from josh at perfect clones, although I found Lay at replicamake to be just as good and cheaper. Can you say who you had problems with with qc pics earlier and what you found wrong with it? -
Was surprised aswell, on first look I thought what a strange looking watch, very busy odd looking dial so could only be a fantasy, .....it was the cards and model no that piqued my interest and what'da ya know its listed as a gen model. I also think the rotor has pretty basic finishing tbh, hardly worth displaying, not the best model from Omega.
-
I have to admit, I'd never seen a gen of this type of gmt speedy (it's obviously new) before so immediately thought "fantasy", .....but had a look and the 3581.50 is a real model not a fantasy. So I'd say thats a gen, everything is too good to be a rep, i.e. domed crystal, logos, decorated movement etc. Look here: http://forums.watchuseek.com/f99/speedmaster-broad-arrow-co-axial-gmt-3581-50-00-a-25614.html

Oh right, didn't read that you had abandoned the idea, silly me
-
Have a look at these two: This to me looks like almost the perfect watch...never made
-
Interesting, good idea, why not go for a black bond instead?, Sell the bezel to raise funds for the black bezel? Or will the black bond dial not fit the old case? You could also go down the route of creating a 2254 setup with the right parts? To me the 007 already looks too close to the blue bond to make it really worthwhile. There are lots of different things that might be worth doing to create an almost completely different look. Some people on some of the gen forums were doing projects a while back using non-AC smp dials, PO seconds hands etc, they looked completely different and interesting and made a unique project. Either way, let us know how it goes!

Question as above I have a gen PO 42mm (old style now) and a rep 42mm PO for 'backup'. I'm happy with both but have to say I'm intrigued by the new PO's coming out. While I'm not so sure we'll have a accurate rep of these for a while and at the current prices certainly won't be getting a gen, just wondering if parts become available will we be able to 'franken' old with new. Sure the thickness of the watch has changed, and these have a displayback, but the new dial should in theory go into a rep case, not too sure about the bezel though...god knows the cost of the new standalone bezel will be ridiculously high. They may not ever be compatible, but if they were, it would be a frankeners dream......new dial, old bezel, old case new hands or new dial, new bezel, old case, old hands etc...great fun !
-
Yep the thin numbered one is a classy rep, not sure sure on the other variations...harder to get the thin numbered one these days though!

Why bring attention to the quality of rep Omegas on a gen forum?
cougar1 replied to cougar1's topic in The Omega Area
Lol, it's ok we're in the clear! He's another clueless gen owner who happened to come across the pics on e-vil-bay, so panic over It just was interesting to see his first post, before he revealed where he came across the pics, I though he might have had different intentions. He posted a good example and afaik the pics are QC pics rotated and cropped so I wasn't too sure what he was upto! -
Is this guy around? hxxp://forums.watchuseek.com/f441/fake-po-42mm-looks-very-real-554007.html He obviously knows what he is looking at, and is most probably a member of the rep community. I'm all for stamping out reps being sold as gen, but that's a different issue, this is starting a thread to bring attention to a rep out of nowhere. What's the motive here I'm curious? 1. Truely trying to educate the gen community about the tells of reps? 2. Attention seeking! ? 3. Trying to drum up business for the dealers ? I'm going with No.2

No problem Gran, If anyone else has any info or anything we missed, pipe in, always great to have a few different eyes looking at the differences tbh, the 42mm is a great rep, lets hope they do as good a job with the next generation PO out soon
