  1. Good stuff vandal, it's like the PO bonanza here lately!
  2. That's the problem though, isn't it? The average fedex delivery guy couldn't give a toss who signs for it, as long as it's out of their hands, if the local stray dog could put his x down as a signature then they'd be quite happy with that and give it to him. When it comes back to the company then they just say they followed all standard procedures, it's everybody else's problem bar their own staff. At least with proper coverage you are at least guaranteed compensation if it doesn't end up in the actual addressees hands at the end of the day.
  3. A decent Blancpain Fifty Fathoms is on the agenda soon.
  4. If it did you'd probably buy one
  5. I thought that too, but it seems once it's out of their hands they literally will not lift a finger to help, god forbid they might find themselves liable for compensation. Tekski, with the likes of parcelpro (again I am not affiliated with the company just familar with its use on gen sites)...there are others. https://www.parcelpro.com/public/whatwedo.aspx You post with any carrier, either national post company or any of the other known big couriers i.e dhl, fedex, ups etc...and mark the item as a low valve registered as you stated above. Then the entire insurance of the item is with the third party insurer. It's not that expensive. During the application process, it looks like it's a bit of a nightmare to sign up, but just ring them or email them and say you are a private collector/trader in watches and they will offer whatever cover you want. Worth keeping them in mind. They've come through many many times on tzuk, wus, chrono24 etc when people got sick of the behaviour of the regular carriers if something goes wrong.
  6. Lovely pics of a great classic Scope, enjoy! So much sweeter than a daytona!
  7. Looks great Lovecraft, wouldn't be concerned at all about the timing....easy to regulate the 2824 if you want to later. Go for it!
  8. Hi Brad, welcome to the forum. Afaik, most sellers won't do it on a strap, they will do it on bracelet though and you can add an after-market strap later, regarding the strap above, I'm not sure what it is but it is very similar to the Hirsch obsession strap....which goes lovely on a speedy. http://www.puretimewatch.com/product/speedmaster-professional-moon-watch-manual-winding/
  9. Don't get me wrong Texski, I know for a fact Concepta and yourself are not making huge amount of money on this, I'm well aware of the price of constructing a complete franken from any brand so price was never a argument in any of this. As far as I'm concerned I think the builds are superb value for money, all things considered. I'm still surprised ye even took the projects on, as it's these little scenarios (which are bound to happen on an occasion) that can make of break an operation like this. I just believe in future it might be diligent to cover yourselves should the worst come to the worst and it happen again or maybe a couple of times. As said before once the price of the goods transported go up it's no good relying on generic carrier insurance, it just doesn't cut it when things go wrong such as in the above situation. It might instill more confidence in a buyer aswell, knowing that if the item goes missing then they are 100% covered. The anally retentive nature of rep buyers was never in dispute, if they were to tear apart most gens at 10x+ then they would see problems....but they really would ignore them because they bought it from an AD.....amazing the psychological difference an actual AD bought gen can have over an identical franken constructed in the same manner, just bought from a different source. Thats rep buyers for you though.
  10. Yeah Cousinsuk are a bit of a nightmare, sorry forgot about them not dealing with the 'public'.... they have responded to my emails before, but it was in regards to a big order so I would've pulled it had they not got back. I'm not sure if Omega even released AT parts for sale as they do with the PO. Why did you mention it...is the AT crown giving you trouble? There's plenty here: http://www.ofrei.com/page_147.html Only trouble is finding a correct fit Regards the PO, yep you were right to reject it, I know many say it's too nitpicking but it's you that has to be happy at the end of the day, especially if you are not going to franken the bezel, you want the best you can get. ....If you can get one anywhere near similar to the one wetwork got then you will be singing
  11. I'm completely impartial in all of this and not stepping on anyone, and I realise the refund is a nice gesture, but from the completely impartial standpoint I hate to rock the boat and say that the 'gesture' was only forthcoming after the 'customer' went on 3 forums and created a big palaver over the scenario, In these circumstances the sceptic in me doesn't like it when it takes a big song and dance and potential loss of future business for the seller to get the message, and only then for the 'gesture' to come forward. Not good business sense or customer service really.
  12. Well I'll be damned! Nice review Wetwork. Galimanas: You are making it more complicated than it is: It's like this: Joshs site: PO 42mm SWISS ETA 2824-2 = $318 PO 42mm ASIAN ETA 2824-2(Swiss clone) = $268 Po 42mm ASIAN 21j (DG4183)(Miyota clone) = $138 Now, nothing mysterious about Trevors prices....just cheaper.
  13. What did you do to the dial and crystal on that Andy...looks stunning....did you mattefy the dial and or change the AR on the crystal...the original outer AR on the good rep was a bit too blue/purple...that one you have above looks more like gen crystal (clear inner AR)??
  14. Ask Josh or angus to source one for you, they are harder to find these days but still available on request.....well they were last year anyway.
  15. TTT.......Thanks for the review. I didn't like this at first, I thought it had a bit of a "fisher price" dial and bezel, but I have to say it's really grown on me. Think I will add it too my 'to buy' list, cheers!
  16. A.) Only you can decide the size, what size is your wrist, and even then it's hard to tell what would suit you. I usually say under 7" go with the 42mm but theres no hard and fast rule. B.) I don't believe that, that dealers don't stock due to dodgy crown, yes the 42mm can be known to have a weakish crown screw down and may strip, but same with the 45mm, maybe a little less so. But it has to be taken into context...the 42mm is a vastly more popular size and seller than the 45mm. Hence more stripped 42mms. No dealer would deny themselves a sale when most don't, I'd say those particular dealers either don't have it in stock or can't get it from the source. C.) The price difference is between swiss eta and eta asian clone, go with the asian clone of the swiss eta at cheaper price....no difference.
  17. This is for the 45mm (old upo), but pretty much covers everything...same job:
  18. There are guides all over the place for the modds, I would say the crown job isn't difficult but it can be awkward if you are not familiar with decasing a watch and getting hands on. Saying that, plenty of people who never even removed the caseback before have managed the crown job so a bit of patience and a good guide will help.
  19. Yeah, looks great, like the choice of strap! The pearl is ever such a tiny bit off centre but it looks more prominent than it is due to the first pic being 3 times the size of the watch. It looks great, wouldn't worry about the pearl on that, it's nice an flush and you can move the bezel insert slightly to the right if it bothers you, looks like the pearl hole is slightly enlarged left on the first pic throwing it off, if it really bothers you ask for another but wouldn't worry bout it. You won't even notice it when it's on the wrist.
  20. It's a tough call, I've a 7ish " wrist and I prefer the 42mm, but that's just a personal preference, I like watches under 43mm or 44mm max. With a 7" wrist you get away fine with either the 42mm or 45mm PO so think yourself lucky with the choice Anything lower than 7" def 42mm only. Do you like bigger watch sizes? Personally I thought the PAM looked great on you sizewise so you'd have no trouble with the 45mm PO. I realise that doesn't help at all btw nice one from Andrew, I'm sure this one will be fine.
  21. Right, the facebook page is only opening for me now(browser glitch), first impression, they look horrendous, and the name is ridiculous...."original sea dog design" ....they won't be competing with Kobold or Chronoswiss. They won't even be competing with Steinhart
  22. Only think is if Omega don't issue spares for these AT models (as claimed before), then only way to get one is 2nd hand. Try email cousins to just ask, if I see anything I'll post it here.
