  1. There you go solchitlins, straight from the horses mouth Can't get much better than that!
  2. This one, it's really cool... is it a rep, looks gen!
  3. Cool Pic Gran, btw where did you get that AP you have in the wristies thread....lts lovely!
  4. Nice one galmanas, enjoy, the bezel looks looks friggen gen with that pearl, nice choice of strap aswell. Just to clarify, yes, we explained all the prices in the 'other thread' yes it's $188 for an eta clone from trevor compared to $268 for the same watch from the cartel.
  5. Pho, Steinhart are most definitely a step up from invicta, if you are comparing the most expensive invicta to the cheapest steinhart then you might have a small point but we are trying to compare apples with apples here. CW are a world away from invicta. Bremont: yes, well aware of the them, have been for quite a while.....you must have missed the prices, as sgtguk said we are in a totally different price bracket when you throw Bremont into the mix! Might aswell be go up a few quid more and throw Hublot in to the mix as well, ...doesn't work that way!... A few other web brands in a Steinhart ish price range would be CW, Precista, Archimede, Aristo, Junghans, Benarus, Orsa, Promethus, Debaufre, Boschett, Magrette, Bernhardt etc Stowa are exceptional for the price. On the christopher ward point. One guy who is a chief exec at the parent holding company of fossil was consulted on the design of one CW watch...'the jump hour' ...that suddenly doesn't mean the whole CW operation is now owned by fossil. As you said not that it would matter, but lets be clear here, the 'CW aren't made by the people who do fossil'
  6. Lol ....It would look lovely on my left ankle then
  7. First I've heard of this, not saying you are wrong...I don't know who makes them, but have you any evidence to support it, or is it just naysayers on the net making it up? On a side note: CW get a lot of slack, as do Steinhart and all the other boutique type net brands on the market, sometimes we are a bit over critical, they are all pretty damn good watches and a serious step up from the usual stuff 98% of the planet wear...invicta et al.
  8. Nice, was trying to make it out while watching the movie last wk aswell, thought it was a 288 too, didn't bother pausing and trying to zoom as when I first attemted to do that I ended up turning off the dvd player by accident, to which I thought ...fcuk the watch, I'll be here all night Thanks for the clarification.
  9. Don't mind me ade, I'm just talking out loud Go for the dssd if you like the design, f*** what people think, they'd question any rolex the minute they see the name on the dial, don't let that put you off some nice reps. The thing that always got me with the dssd, is that it's just too mofookin big, and I've just always loved the classic sub design and size...it's part of its appeal. Saying that, there's bigger about these days but I always had trouble looking at the dssd as a kind of sub that took too much steroids
  10. You got it there man Not sure where we go from here though!
  11. Lol, I enjoyed that, sums Rolex up to a tee for me, some people think they move too slow and are too conservative, I think as above that almost every design change they've made of late has been close to a disaster, couldn't have made things any worse imo. Also agree regarding the finishing and build on Tags being easily up there with the main players, Omega, Rolex etc, some of the case finishing and build quality on tags have surprised me in the last few years....but then again that was probably because public perception always put them on a lower pegging than the above two and that gets into your head. I think tag heuer did made some mistakes in the 90's outputting cheaper quartz designs to a more budget market which lowered peoples perception of them...watches such as the F1, early quartz aquaracers etc, while good beaters themselves, plenty of people bought them as as their first 'good' watch and that was a mistake...the build quality wasn't anywhere near as good as tag were capable of achieving. They got a bit of a bad rap for this, but they've come back with a vengeance.
  12. Breitling Superocean Abyss PAM 177 Clutching at straws, can't decide anything regarding watches at the moment! Sometimes you need to take a break from watches for a week and wear nothing on the wrist, then come back to them, you get a whole new perspective on what will work for you and what won't. Anybody feel like that sometimes, too many choices, not enough wrists!?
  13. You're determined Did you have a few drinks during the game? Not sure if it was the right result, we're kinda neutral on this side of the pond but bit of an upset, was a good tight game by all accounts. Hard to choose, it's funny how taste goes, since I read vandals review of the Pam 177 I want one, looks lovely, and understated... but as far as the dssd goes...could never stand them, way too in your face and for me they epitomise everything that's wrong these days about rolex...no doubt a great rep, better than the PO, that's a fact, ... but I read ByTors comments on the dssd a few days ago and it sums it up lovely.... hehe No offense to anyone intended, I'm a wear what you like kinda person. The Pam288 is a great rep but it's a big one, huge case on it, still humming and hawing over that one aswell. Nice one, let us know what you think when you receive.
  14. Good stuff galimanas, looking forward to it!
  15. Excellent review opti, great looking watch, love the black.... now why they can't but the same effort into the non-chrono versions is beyond me.
  16. What actually happened to watchedens version, I did hear at one stage there was a bad run of them with some miss-numbered dials but though that was all back to normal now? $224 is way too high...I have a panda version quartz that you can have for half that
  17. Don't let opinions put you off, I fully admit I've never held one, though I have read alot about them. What I was getting at... it's a price vs price thing, it's very competitive in this sub £500 market with just a $100 or $200 extra the difference between getting a few nice extra touches or not!....on a steinhart you would be guaranteed good lume and good crown screw down out of the box so in that case better than the average rep imo, ....but for it you are paying that little bit extra compared to the average rep for this. It might be better to compare it to a semi modded rep The Ocean 1 in fairness is not bad, all things considered and is about one of the better valued items they have. The CW trident pro is a great watch, but is dearer again, I can at least say that although the design is a bit unusual, ....the brother has one, it's like a cross between a Rolex sub and an Omega Smp but it is lovely build quality, not far off a gen smp in terms of finishing.
  18. Wasn't there a story a couple of years ago about one well known dealer, not sure if he was even supplying the forums...who cleared $30M profit in one year ....had his own yacht
  19. They are not bad, a bit too homage-y though, no doubt they have semi decent build quality but not sure they are up there with even the likes of christopher ward in terms of fine details and they are even homagey themselves. I think you get better value in reps as phoband says. Steinhart seem to be in the middle of no mans land at the moment, better than invicta, fossil etc but not quite up to the quality of Longines, hamilton or tissot. Personally I'd rather spend the money on one of those, better bang for the buck. But if you want a nice rolex homage then nothing wrong with steinhart, ....just that any noob would do the job just as well and cheaper.
  20. They don't like them put on any forum, it's more got to do with delays and time limits than anything, they don't want nitpicking and delaying for days, especially when it takes time to process qc in the first place. Hence the reason they say they will ship said watch within 24hrs without approval if you don't get back to them. Many forumites are divided on whether they should allowed or not, there was even a big discussion recently on the forum about it. I agree, QC pics are great, there was a time when none were offered, and it was really a bit of a lucky dip as to what you'd receive.
  21. yep, 42mm is fully franken-able, 45mm, harder to get the gen bezel on, but is doable with some machining.
  22. Sometimes if a few separate sources complain at the same time they act a little faster, sometimes!
  23. Yep best to take the photos down after the job is done, but don't worry too much about putting them up in the first place. They simply don't like it because originally when they all started doing QC pics there was a monumental amount thrown onto all the forums and this started a week long teardown of every single square mm of the each pic on every watch ....and then some noob would come along and reject their one due to some microscopic flaw that you could barely see under lab conditions The dealers were doing their nut over this! Well this is a little exaggeration above but you can see their point
  24. Hate that place with a passion now, it used to be my home aswell, it's not even the mods that are the problem (although plenty of little hitlers on there) ...it's more the self appointed mods and absolute die hard brand loyalists that do your head in.
