  1. Well you probably will not be caught and if you do they will probably simply confiscate them. But you should know that possesing a fake watch in Switzerland is a JAILABLE offense. Now I don't know if they actually enforce the law or not but literally owning ONE fake can get you jail time. I doubt that actually would enforce it to that extent but they do take it VERY seriously.
  2. I knoiw nothing about it but is sure looks like you are good at it.
  3. I really hope it does go away, though it was still there when I checked. What possible good could come of it. Why on Earth would you even want to do it? Listen, it is easy as hell to fool anybody with some photos, even really well informed poeple... so what? A fake Rolex is not buitl anywhere near as a gen and it takes two seconds in your hands to know this. In photos you may fool people, you may not, but to what point? If and when they spot you all it does is bring a whole hell of a lot of uneccesary heat on RWG and TRC. If I had a nickle for everytime someone tried to pull this stuff I would have a few extra watches in my collection, that's for sure. Genuine watch collectors are not some sort of evil people or idiots or anything else. They have a passion for watches, great, let them have it. Why go poking at a hornets nest?
  4. I don't think they ever made one, gen or fake... did they? The closest the gen got was the SS and Titanium bracelet which aside from being ugly was very expensive.
  5. Go for the NON Chrono P.O. you don't need the hassle of the Asian 7750, it still has issues.

    Gen Or Fake?

Sorry, I forgot all about this thread,,, for those who guessed most of you did get it correct, it is in fact my fake 007 40th anniversay and indeed it is one of the few that were made about 2 years back. Now some of the reasons people guessed it was fake seem a bit off to me. The hands are dead on perfect to the original. The gen DOES have metal surrounds around the hour markers... just like this one. Bezel is not misaliagned though it may appear to be because of the angle of the photo or something, but it is not in person. There is a slight SeaNaster issue I guess, though really slight. I think the SIZE of the dots are the biggest give sway that it is fake... but that is SO slight as to be almost meaningless. In this age of "1:1 reps" and all of that I think it is interesting that one of the best ever made is over 2 years old. I should shoot it again just straight on instead of at the angle I shot it previously.
  7. I think more often that not boxes and papers are a noob thing. Obviously not ALWAYS but most newbies get s perverese thrill out of fooling themselves in some odd way that the submariner they just bought is genuine. Hell, I recall the first fake sub I got 6 or 7 years back. It came in a fake box and it somehow made it cooler to be in that box. Now I am asucker for ANY cool packaging, gen, fake, watch, DVD, whatever... I just like the stuff, the design of it, everything in it's place and all of that. With that siad I now go out of my way to NOT have boxes or papers with any fake waych that I buy. In fact I throw or give them away if they happen to arrive with box sets (the boxes, not the watches). They just take up space in a drawer and after a few dozen the thrill and novelty wears off for sure. I also must admit that the thought of fake papers and hang tags and such sort of creeps me out because I know the real reason those are made is to deceive people... as in sell a fake as a gen, and THAT is something that bigs me big time. I know members here are not doing that but in general that is why they are made.
  8. One more question for you Angus: Does the gold version you showed have a GENUINE carbon Fiber dial or is it some sort of stamped plastic. It looked nice but did not look authentic carbon fiber to me. I am looking forwards to the SS version and especially the black ceramic version big time... let us know when we can buy this mother!
  9. Angus: One more question that I know has been answered but I am confused: Is the all black version coming out for sure or not? If it is can you give us a rough idea of when? Will it be a lot more expensive or similar price to the SS version? I much prefer the all black (as pictured in the above posts) and would be willing to wait and buy that one, but only if I KNOW it is coming. Thanks: TVT
  10. I actually think it is a cool watch if you have a big enough wrist to pull it off.
  11. I have a local engraver I am going to ask about this. I am thinking that I could remove the rotor, remove the stupid stick on letters (which I believe will become problematic over time) and then have my guy engrave the rotor. Heck, even just a BLANK rotor would be better to me that something that may cause problems latter and break the movement.
  12. I hate that watch, just a horrid mess in my eyes... HOWEVER I must agree that it woudl probably sell a lot better than what is currently heading up the poles. Atleast it is a known and respected brand and a unique looking piece. I would never buy one in a million years but it may work out better for Jay then say some Ebel or something like that.
  13. Robert: I know what you mean. I still CLEARLY remember the first time I tried on a PAM. It was probably 6-7 years agao, I had been wearing a sub and I was at a watch store and saw the PAMs I had started to read about... they looks GIANT. I actually felt a little stupid with it on my wrist, even just oin the store. The you start to get used to it and like you said the next thing you know anythng else seems SMALL. With that said I do think there are limits and for me the B&R is past those limits. I actually like the way they look though but I think you just need to either be really big to pull it off, or some sort of fashionista type of guy who intentionally wants to be a little silly or draw attention to themselves in an off beat sort of way.
  14. You know, people are jokingly calling this a "clock" and so forth. The funny thing is that I believe the gen comes with a little metal base that allows you to literally use the piece as a desk clock. You can remove the straps, add the base and bingo, there you go. So obviously the massive size is part of the appeal.
  15. We all knew that there was no QC and so forth but what I am curious about is where these little basement shops are getting the parts and designs from to begin with. In other words I still think there are larger "factories" producing the parts and then outsourcing the assembly to whoever they can get to do it. While in the watch markets (which Clive says are now GONE, which is just shocking) it would be quite common to see women sitting at little tables in the corner cranking out watches. I sort of thought that they were repairing them or something but in fact they were probably assembling them just like we see in the video. I also saw this at some of the "fake malls" that sell counterfeit goods of all types. You would see vendors at these very small stores just sitting there and assembling jewelry or what have you. They must use down time when not helping customers to get some work on the side. The thing is it is pretty much imposible to stop that type of thing. This is probably why they do it that way. If one small shop gets closed down there are 100 more still doing it, makes more sense than one big central operation which is easy to find and close.
  16. This was posted over on TRC but I did not see it here so here ys go: http://culture.hautehorlogerie.org/en/haut...iting-1832.html The article it basic but the video is pretty interesting. You see a lot of malls, like the one they show here, in China that sell 100% counterfeit goods. It is interesting to see if you have never seen them before. They also have a little video of some small time assembly operation and a photo of a bit largwe assembly line for watches. Check it out.
  17. I'm not sure where I should post this but I think this is probably OK... I have been trying to keep track of the ongoing polls but with so many it is tough. Is there anyway to see a running tally of which watch is in the lead or maybe daily updates or something? Unfortunatley for me the ones I picked seem to be lagging, oh well. Doesn't seem to have any clear cut winner thus far. Also, will there be any "final vote" or is the poll winner the final winner? In other words will liek the top 5 be moved on to a second round of voting and then narrow it down from there or what? Thanks...
  18. Robert: I am not trying to step on any toes, in fact I was posting a POSITIVE remark by saying how good this looked (when viewed from the front) and how it is a really good copy. Not sure why that would be a problem but I admit, at this point I am pretty much Bell and Rossed out. I certainly think it is GREAT that there are so many choices and I am happy that some members are finding this an interesting alternative for them.
  19. I'll say this for it, the "fake" looks a lot like the gen, from the front it seems like a nearly perfect copy. Of course you need to be an 800 pound gorilla to actually wear it but still....
  20. Keep telling yourself that.... Maybe cool AND blind people need apply.
  21. I realize that the original idea of this size is to wear over a flight suit, but how many of us are going to be wearing flight suits around? You will look like a damn fool wearing it over your shirt or something. I think people would honestly (and for good reason) think that you had a mental problem, needed a GIANT easy to read watch and then got confused and put it OVER your clothing. Some things are just not practical and this is one of them.
  22. Not an easy strap to replace... you may have to go gen and that will be $$$
  23. Glad we can see eye to eye Pugwash, frankly I have a feeling there is more we agree on than disagree on but I guess we shall see.
  24. You know, I am not sure it works 100% and I honestly do not know if I like it more than I dislike it, but I give them BIG credit for some unique thinking. If this had a little better fit and finish (and a different name on it) I think a lot of people would flip for it. It's nice to see them do ing something other than just ripping off classic (or trendy) designs. For that alone I give it a thumbs up.
