yes i think that i will take a full membership, the price for this is ok :victory:

Yes.. the grey is the most versatile .. I have the black and yellow .. but the grey with HKtans gen gator is awesome...

there are dealers who can ship to EU ... with little chance of Customs..

if you do decide to upgrade your membership.. we have a give away raffle going on for upgrades.. give me a day to re-set the raffle ... we ran into a little glitch in the system... 3 watches are for raffle. (no charge).. and one of them is the UPO.. and a V3 BCE..

Everyday: Vintage Submariner

Sporty: A watch with a chronograph for timing events. Possibly an IWC Aquatimer, possibly a vintage Rolex Daytona

Formal: Rolex DateJust, either on a Presidential bracelet, or a leather strap (depending on dial variation, and the nature of the formal event)

Vacation: Rolex GMT

Other: Tudor Snowflake Submariner on stainless steel bracelet(for times when more clarity is required in low-light situations)

Hot weather: Tudor Snowflake Submariner on NATO strap

thats for sure a great collection, i hope you find all the watches you want, but im sure it will so :)

Thanks :) I had several watches in my previous collection which hardly got worn, so I think the best thing to do while rebuilding my collection, is to only have a few key watches for particular occasions or situations, so there's more opportunity to wear them all (maybe not equally, but each would get its time), rather than just having a lot of unworn watches

All I need to do now, is acquire them :tu:

Ultimately, it was the discussions which RobbieG started about 'if you could only have one watch' which made me 'mentally restructure' my collection, even before I realized I had to sell it to pay for my wedding and reception, so now, I'm thinking along the lines of just having one watch to represent that type of watch :)

and what wazch would it be? in your case i think a rolex right, maybe a submariner or gmt :whistling:

When I first did the 'mental re-shuffle', it would have been my Omega 2531.80, which was bought with inheritance money from my gran, but as that's been sold off, I don't want to buy another, as I think I would just feel that it was a 'substitute' for that one... I think now, it would probably be a red and black GMT Master II. All the looks of a sub, but with the added bonus of the GMT function, and the color variation of the insert :) I think either that, or another Yacht-Master. My last one wound up in pieces, but as it had no sentimental value, I'd be quite happy to have another :) The 3-D bezel insert makes for a really interesting variation on the regular 'Sub theme', and the watch looks great for formal or casual dress, so actually pretty versatile :) Thinking about it, I'd say the Yacht-Master is definitely the 'One Watch' I would have, if I had to be limited, simply because it would go with a wider wardrobe, and the GMT function isn't truly a necessity, even when traveling :)

Just reading makes me loose my breath.

Not only an outstanding collection, but excellent pictures.

Highly useful for those of us who still need to make up our minds.

Or not perhaps. I now want a lot of watches I previously deleted from the list.....:(

PS

Which of all these watches do not get wrist time???

We WILL be organizing a thread for the Noobs so they can better spend their cash with reps that are of value !! and make wise choices..

We have been wanting to do this for a long time..

another reason RWG is the leading edge.. not because of "ME".. but because of "US"

it will be a combined effort ... it's good to know that something of this nature will be helpful :thumbsupsmileyanim:

Wrist time??... sooner or later..

It took me awhile to figure out how best to answer this. Lani's post of course, provides some amazing photo porn about some outstanding pieces...but I think what makes a good collection is a collection that fits YOUR needs as a collector.

Lani obviously has an eye for detail, varied tastes and like good representation, so he's got lots of pieces that meet this need.

Nanuq on the other hand has lots of divers...vintage divers...and has a passion for Doxa's. So...lots of pieces in this category meet his needs.

Others have small needs but are specific for the use cases they need covered: swimming, formal dress, casual dress, bling dress, etc...so need a few watches to cover all these bases.

Ubiquitous has a need for hand built uber-frankens...one for each kid...so a double El Primero Powered Daytona makes a good collection for him.

Tangfolio has a need for 5 of everything...so 35 x 20 piece watch cases later...some great photography...and he has some amazing photos to share with the community here!!

To come up with the best collection, you have to figure out the bases you need covered and go from there...reference Lani's photos to figure out what some of the primo pieces are...and shop like there's no tomorrow.

i like it :drinks: i also love panerai, since the first time i weard them in a store :thumbsupsmileyanim:

but do you personaly have only pams? what do you wear for suits, or when you go to sport?

greets deniz

hehe - nope, I have a variety - Panerai make up around half of my collection. I just find that they work in every situation - I can wear 'em with a suit, jeans + tee shirt or anything in between. :)

My comment (although not entirely serious) was really based on the fact that if I had to dispose of most of my collection, it would be the PAMs I would keep - the 111h, 183g and 127 (Fiddy) particularly are iconic watches and by far my favourites. If I was to answer your question seriously, though, there are other iconic watches too - the Rolex DateJust (or Day/Date), Vacheron Constantin Overseas, IWC Ingy, amongst others. I like the Rolex DJ, for instance, but it's too small for me - so I have one, but rarely wear it.

My advice is to start slowly and buy a few differing styles of watches - sooner or later you'll come across something that really grabs your attention and you'll know what you really want to collect :)

Good one G !!!

Looks like Deniz is into the sports watches .. no lack of super reps there... B)

but a few dress watches are a must..

My needs are exceeded somewhat me thinks.. I jus love them all...

that's what makes this "hobby" so much fun.. the hunt and the modding to get done..
