redwatch Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 This last pic is the best with everyone staring at the house thinking "$hit........now what????"
Demsey Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 If your richest relative has to back up Thanksgiving dinner in their new house because it fell through a bridge before closing? You may be a red neck.
cornerstone Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Looks like the new bridge is going to have windows
kye_lin Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Is that a house straddling the stream?? If so, what is the large vehicle doing inside the house?
Demsey Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Looks like the new bridge is going to have windows Is that a house straddling the stream?? If so, what is the large vehicle doing inside the house? Being a red neck, my first thought was to sell nightcrawlers and tackle in the kitchen, and let tourists fish out of the bay window in the livingroom. You know, sell chips and beers, NFL on the big screen. Backing the F-150 into the garage would be a [censored] tho'.
AllergyDoc Posted October 22, 2009 Author Report Posted October 22, 2009 They are in a pickle. Not only have they lost their house, pretty much, but they're also going to get a big bill from the county for busting up the only bridge for miles around.

But then this is why these guys carry good insurance policies. Ken
Nanuq Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Where's Clint Eastwood in that picture? (highly obscure reference for Dems to suss out)
KB Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 The bridges of Madison County Not that I have seen it. Ken
Nanuq Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Ken rocks! Too bad for Dems. Now what kind of bridges were in that movie..............??? wait for it...... wait for it......
cornerstone Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 This incident happened a couple of years ago in Calgary incidentally. Everyone blamed each other for fault - the moving company said that was the route they were told to go on, etc., the authorities that they'd faxed them a new route after hours on a weekend or something along those lines. You can go along the road in Google maps and you'll see a road with no bridge still. Google Maps
AllergyDoc Posted October 22, 2009 Author Report Posted October 22, 2009 Hmm.... Google maps shows my house without a pool, which we put in 3 years ago. Insurance? We don't need no stinking insurance! How'd you find out where this took place?
cornerstone Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Yeah - no idea how old the satellite shot is. At least there isn't still a house on it Here's the original news story: Calgary Herald
Demsey Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 (highly obscure reference for Dems to suss out) No fair, I was still asleep. Australians get everything first. By the time I get a sunrise it's already been used up like a Dollar rent-a-car.
KB Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Thats why our girls tan better than yours...the sunlight is still fresh Ken
big eebee Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Id stick a couple of stilts under the house and move the bridge
FxrAndy Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 what do you think the mover driver said some thing along the lines of Oooops?
trailboss Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 I can't belive they were stupid enough to try to move that on a single dolly! They'd kick your ass for that here. Our house removal gear is a little fancier. Clients of mine: Col.
Demsey Posted October 23, 2009 Report Posted October 23, 2009 I remember that one from Mel Gibson's first picture.
AllergyDoc Posted October 23, 2009 Author Report Posted October 23, 2009 I remember that one from Mel Gibson's first picture. "Mad Max" Col: your client's "Mad Max" truck could move a 2,100 sq. ft. house?
trailboss Posted October 24, 2009 Report Posted October 24, 2009 No probs AD. When they get too big here we saw 'em into chunks. Finished, new verandas being added.: That trailer (one of two) has 15 feet of lift to get over bridge rails and to raise/remove house from/to high stumps. Col.
AllergyDoc Posted October 24, 2009 Author Report Posted October 24, 2009 That's what they should have done here, saw it into a couple of pieces. But they're Canadians, so what can you say?
