ubiquitous Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Okay, folks. Just as the title says. I'm working with a dial maker, and am exploring the possibility of having a custom made Yacht-Master dial made for the 16622 Rolesium. The dial will be as close to genuine as possible with regards to font, font color, coronet, and markers. This post is ONLY to gauge interest, so please post here if this strikes your fancy Pricing would be as follows: If we can get 10 people (i.e. 10 dials) price per dial is $50.00 US. If the interest is less than 10 people, price per dial is $80.00 US. Here is the result I am working to achieve with this dial maker... If interested, please post here. I'm looking to LIMIT this run to 10 pcs max. Once interest has been established, I will start working with my dial guy to sort out specifics/details/etc. Best regards, R
jfreeman420 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Any reason for this particular dial? I have been waiting a long time for a good tahitian MOP Rolex dial with the proper gold print. Is it possible to get one of these done for a daytona or yachtmaster later on?
ajoesmith Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Ubi I take it this will have dial feet for ETA movements?? If so count me in Thanks
crystalcranium Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Ubi I take it this will have dial feet for ETA movements?? If so count me in Thanks Yes, second that, if it's going to have ETA feet that will eliminate mounting manipulations, count me in!!! $50...is that correct????
zetterdawg Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Ubi I take it this will have dial feet for ETA movements?? If so count me in Thanks me as well.
ubiquitous Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Posted August 29, 2006 The price will be $50 if I can get interest for a total of 10 dials. Any less, and they'll be $80 ea. And yes... These will be made to fit ETAs.
ubiquitous Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Posted August 29, 2006 6 so far... Just need 4 more, and I can move on to the next step. Remember... This is a limited count of 10 dials only.
www_watch Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 The price will be $50 if I can get interest for a total of 10 dials. Any less, and they'll be $80 ea. And yes... These will be made to fit ETAs. I'm DEFINITELY IN for one of these. And I wouldn't hesitate to order another one if it would be necessary to reach the limit of ten pieces.
RWG Technical Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Count me in, I am guessing that this dial will fit a MBW YM that I have, it's got the standard ETA inside, but being a MBW, I am guessing that the case is a bit different... In any event, for the price, I want one...even if it doesn't fit... RG
www_watch Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 If I may add something: This dial should be custom made to fit EL's latest 16622 as we agreed on this one being the closest so far regarding the other important details like CG's, Bezel insert etc. Custom made because I noticed there are some differences in the rehaut angle of the various 16622 reps on the market so far. This should be considered, because otherwise the position of the minute marks around the dial could be wrong. Just my 0.02
ubiquitous Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Posted August 29, 2006 Okay... 2 more, and we're done.
ubiquitous Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Posted August 29, 2006 I just so happen to have a new EL YM on the way. Hence my posting of this thread. I will have the dial measured once I have it.
jkpadget2 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Absolutely count me in on this deal!!!!! I have been looking all over for a gen YM dial with no luck - this is a fantastic idea.
crystalcranium Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Okay... 2 more, and we're done. Oh man....this is great stuff Ubi!!!. I'm going to use it and swap out this mess of a dial in Pauls $120 YM. I'll have an ETA 2836 YM with a spot on dial for $195 when you include WU fees. Thanks. Pauls YM Grey Dial The ultimate!!!
Linder Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Without question I am in and ready to send payment LOL
Linder Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Is there a way to have these delivered, either without lume or already superlumed? No sense having to scrape the lume off and scratching them from the get go.
jraines87 Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 Randy, If/When this project is done, could you tell us how your dial maker made these? Seems like it would be difficult to replicate this dial in particular...
ubiquitous Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Posted August 29, 2006 I will inquire on the possibility of markers being Superlumed or delivered without any lume. J- Does a magician ever tell the secrets to his tricks? More to come... Just need to start looking into technical details (i.e. dial size, etc).
ubiquitous Posted August 29, 2006 Author Report Posted August 29, 2006 Some additional information (this may be a deal stopper for some of you). -Dial maker only accepts WU. For some, this is not a problem, but I know not everyone likes WU fees. -I am, in no way affiliated with this individual, and am not a dealer or seller of any sort (I am only a collector). Any payment or purchase will need to be handled individually. As such (and to protect my source), I ask that only well known and experienced members apply. If you are new on the forum and/or have a low post count, please provide me with references. Sorry it has to be this way; good sources are hard to find, and I'd prefer to keep it this way Again... This is only the initial developing stage. Most likely, I'll have my guy make a dial, I'll check it over, suggest changes or improvements etc. at which point it will go back to the drawing table to revise. Once we have a solid correct dial, I'll revisit this topic with some pics of the dial installed so that you all know what it will look like. So, be prepared... It may be a patience enduring project. EDIT: It looks like we have 10 now. Thanks for the interest guys...
www_watch Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 I don't have a problem with WU payment. Especially not if you're taking pics of the dial first and it's on a "what you see is what you get" basis.

Actually, I decided to get my YM from EL and I'm about a week away from ordering it and will then need to replenish mad money funds so patience will not be a problem. Thanks so much for making this available for the community
davidk Posted August 29, 2006 Report Posted August 29, 2006 I have a YM from Joshua I got last year. Will it fit any kind? Will the dial match the bezel? Would we be able to get new bezels that match the dial if not?
