Tribal Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Hello friends, after i saw Sherringtons Red Sub,i asked him if he changed the datewheel of his Sub, because its much bolder as from factory.... He told me that he changed it witch one he bought from the bay.... I remembered that i have bought one too in the past... Ok so I decided to change the wheel too.... I had an spare movement and an spare Sub 1680 Dial here,so i could built a whole new movement. i glued the datewheel on the movement, fit the dial and the hands... ..and thats the result I think looks much better than the factory datewheel... What do you think... P.S. Thanks Sherrington for the tip
erd04056 Posted September 5, 2006 Report Posted September 5, 2006 Looks good. I kept telling everyone that is where I got my datewheel.....nobody believed it would work.

Tribal Posted September 5, 2006 Author Report Posted September 5, 2006 Stay tuned... A couple of us are working on something that will knock your guys' socks off! Hi ubi, i hope that is one of the great silver datewheels with correct numbers? Rg Tribal
alligoat Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 @ Tribal, Is that the date wheel from Luenfat over in Hong Kong? I've got a couple of those, but I haven't got around to glueing them up to a movement. Someone had commented that they didn't always line up w/ the date window.
olreon Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Stay tuned... A couple of us are working on something that will knock your guys' socks off! ooooohhhhhhhh, i´m really excited. is this "something" a datewheel, probably grey and has flat 3´s? best wishes olreon

I think looks good, not the best datewheels but for the 1680 it works fine.... Not the flat one but only the silverdatewheelshas the flat three in real... When Rolex serviced your 1680 you become mostly the newer one in white with normal three Rg Tribal
Sherrington Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Looks great. Best datewheel for these you can get at the moment.
alligoat Posted September 6, 2006 Report Posted September 6, 2006 Yep, I agree. My WM 1680 has essentially the same date wheel and I'm to the point that it really doesn't bother me anymore, especially when you consider that there are at least three different datewheels that rolex used w/ the 1575 movement during the 60's and 70's. 1. The silver datewheel with the flattop three's, open 6's and 9's except 26 is closed- usually on a sub 2. The white datewheel w/ open 6's and 9's 3. The white datewheel w/ closed 6's and 9's and roundtop 3's- I have this on a 1500 Date from 1966. Of course, there are the gold/champagne datewheels also and I've seen GMT's and even a DRSD w/ white datewheels w/ closed 6's and 9's and round top three's. And remember, a datewheel for a 1570 movement won't fit a 3035 or 3135 movt. It's the same old vintage Rolex story- things were subject to change depending on stock on hand.
ubiquitous Posted September 7, 2006 Report Posted September 7, 2006 All I'm going to say is... Some of you vintage nuts may be very happy vintage nuts. We'll have to see how things work out. More to come.
Sir-Lancelot Posted September 15, 2006 Report Posted September 15, 2006 Will someone please provide a link for Luenfat?
