ubiquitous
So why does this Ballon Bleu intrigue me so much?! I find it strange and slightly ugly, yet somehow appealing? Anyone else feel this way?
fakemaster
I revviewed this watch. It is nice. Very different from other Cartiers. Very weak winder assembly however.
asf
i've always loved that cartier!
Jkay
I bought a Pasha Seatimer (all SS, no black rubber and the newer detailed, raised dial) from another member here, and the Mrs was initially not feeling the vibe but now the only time she doesn't wear it is in bed! She just had to get used to the 40mm size and then it was Love.
Ztech
I understand the feeling. I love Cartier's dials for their simplicity with a lot of style. I just can't wrap myself around the case though.

coolfire
Is it because it somehow looks like a face? It does to me, at least.
plaifender
not sure why it intrigues you soo much! It doesn't intrigue me at all.. but that's the beauty of being an individual: you don't have to explain why or why not anything intrigues you! If you like it you like! jeff g
1st rep watch I ever purchased was the Cartier American Tank, from Eddie in 2003. Still wear it on the occasional dress occasion. Classic dials for sure. The round case of this model doesn't appeal to me very much though. Still a classic Cartier design that's for sure. It is VERY popular these days. HauteHippie
I'm not a Cartier guy either.... but for me, it's always been the Roadster that has had this effect.
Coeuss
This watch just is just classic. Simple, yet makes a huge statement. Wear with gray wool suit and a wool tie and wingtips.
RLudlowe
Not so much on steel, but have a genuine croc strap made for it and this watch reeks class -
ubiquitous
T'is a very odd and unusual watch; definitely not suited to everyone's taste, but I'm still drawn to it. I recently saw a pic of Cartier's ID One Concept; same case as the Ballon Bleu, but with a one off movement specifically highlighting the following properties: -No adjustments or regulation required -An escapement that will maintain an accuracy of 2 seconds per day for the life of the movement, without pallet jewels and with minimal trips to service/overhaul -No lubrication ID One aside, seeing the Ballon case on a kevlar strap really appeals to me as it adds a bit of a sport-watch element to this otherwise dressy watch. Someday, I may even give this one a try

StormTooper4
I saw a guy wearing one the other day, I think it was a two tone version. It was much larger than I expected and had some presence about. But its not something I could see myself wearing. Its too smooth and curvy. I'd goes as far to say its a Ladies watch. ft0472
I'm more of a Panerai guy myself and pulled the trigger on this Ballon Bleu. If you're on the fence.. here's some photos to tip you over.
ubiquitous
Compared to that Panerai, the Ballon does indeed have a significant amount of presence! It's bigger than I thought it would be! Looks like it's 1/3 as thick in profile though... Might be interesting to try one of these. Maybe I need to visit the Cartier AD to see if they have one in the display...
StormTooper4
Ok its a BIG birds watch, but its still a birds watch. But I guess its a case of don't knock it till you try it. Be good to hear how the AD trip goes Ubi

Jkay
Compared to that Panerai, the Ballon does indeed have a significant amount of presence! I believe there are 3 sizes .. Ladies, Mid, and OMG ITS HUGE ... I think the one in the photo next to the Panerai is a Mid ..

The panerai in the photo is a Pam 104 at 44mm. The ballon bleu in the photo is the large version at 42mm.
