apexwatch
I bought a Zenith Defy Extreme Chrono RG/Kevlar Strap from Prowatch.polo.com. I paid to an address listed on the website using PayPal. I communicated with Polo through his e mail address prowatch.polo@gmail.com. I have recently learned that Polo does NOT post a PayPal address on his website. He comminucates with individual buyers and provides an address for payment on an individual basis. PayPal lists the recipient of my payment as 陳佩玲. This translates to Chen Peiling, an individual who is not connected to Polo in any way. I am awaiting my "purchase" from Chen Peiling. It should be interesting to see what I get for my USD523, including shipping. I expect it will be significantly different from the watch I discussed with the real Polo. This is very disturbing, as it damages a decent and helpful seller's reputation. It is my intention to charge the fake recipient with fraud through PayPal. I only hope these people can be caught and stopped before they destroy the real Polo's reputation. Anyone with any collateral information or experiences like this are encouraged to post to this thread. Please PM me for further details.
Katerchen
Dear Apexwatch!! First sorry for your loss - from what i heard ProWatchPolo might be "newer" but dedicated and trustworthy seller!! *harrumph* dont wanna dampen you but DO YOU REALLY THINK that some "CN-special-hack-agent" achieved to implement successful a fake PP link on fake-watch-site making you send over 500 Bucks and you still BELIEVE you are going to get a maybe inferior Rep from that extraterrestrial "陳佩玲" Dealer - Man, are you NAIVE! Welcome to the internet btw! This was apprentice's premium $$$ you paid my friend - and btw i already lost over 1000
MasterOfPuppets
@Katerchen: not exactly a nice way to address a fellow member tryin to help the community by posting his unfortunate experience, so others wouldn't make the same mistake Especially if he was a newcomer @apexwatch: I'm really sorry for what happened with u, the rep world could be tough one buddy I hope ur issues will be resolved mith minimum losses And thx for posting this Good luck and welcome aboard
Katerchen
@Katerchen: not exactly a nice way... @MasterOfMuppets YES, indeed... same thoughts went through my head BEFORE i typed my text, but you know what? If in a situation like that beeing too naive to realize whats going on in reality - this guy will put his hand onto the hotplate again! And then? Then this guy will think - how lucky would i be now, if someone experienced only would have said the hard facts articulately inside my face... You have no other way, if someone doesnt "wake-up" with noise than to take the bucket with cold water and spill. My words were choosen mate because as a "longer-time-member" i feel responsible to DETAIN people from such avoidable errors... Nothing more - nothing less. offshore
Well I suppose eventually you can lodge a PP claim, however I will bet there will be "No funds in the account" Sorry for your loss, but as stated by others, this is the expensive lesson some get in their early dealings. It's called "experience". See my Siggy. Offshore

The address which you offer is directed to exactly the same website as the one I reached through the link provided by Torrent on the website. Interstingly enough, entering my username and password results in an error. I find this strange as Polo told me he had reset my password because I had mailed him telling I was having trouble with the site. Stay tuned...Apex

Katerchen
I find it extraordinary that anyone would be so overwhelmingly condescending to a total stranger. Dear Apex - maybe you just took my "comment" which is just my 2cents the wrong way? Your conclusion that I am naive is rather charming, in a feckless sort of way. It has been a lot of decades since anyone has described me as an innocent and callow fellow. In all likelihood, I am at least 20 years your senior. I never check before replying exactly "how old" someone is (see for ex. profile of member) because in this case of fraud, it makes no difference to me... anyway i didnt want to offend you, maybe you still think this was my aim - but its rather good to tell things as what they are, than beeing too diplomatic about a situation where someone unexperienced with rep-purchases easily can loose $$$ a second time... You will surely accede to the fact, that there are legions in between beeing a naive person (which i now doubt for you) and just acting/thinkink too naive in a situation that took place? Anyway this is no thread to "bash" someone who lost 500USD... And as far as experience might take you trough this "jungle" - its definitely NOT IT based that will help you most of the times preventing such things. Although its good to know about these things too If my comment somehow will "keep you away" from things like that a second time, its fine for me whatever you might think about me as a person... People here and on other boards that know me and to which i had business throughout the years know WHO IS thrustworthy my friend Calm down friend - cheers! People here and on other boards that know me and to which i had business throughout the years know WHO IS thrustworthy my friend Calm down friend - cheers! George Ah, George... No need to explain. You most certainly did not offend me. The crux of the biscuit was how someone new to the obsession might feel REALLY humiliated because of what appears to be the offhand (Man...you're NAIVE)offering up of your condolences. Youngsters are quite frequently found to have rather thin skins. I am looking forward with great interest to viewing what arrives in the post. It has been my experience that more than one payment addy isn't unusual, especially for anything coming out of Guangzhong (also known as Replica Mecca... you've not been there, you owe it to yourself. The total sensory overload is PROFOUND!)given their up and down safety in the marketplaces, official "sweeps" by the local constsables to shut them down, so on. I have also seen two people using the same email address (do you remember Watchlover David?) as another watchguy from Canada named Ted. I will post pictures. I will also tell you all that you should expect a post from Polo confirming this occurence. He asked me to help him get the word out. Apex

apexwatch
Here's the latest: After several attemots to get info from swift1688, I was finally directed to a website called iwatchstation.com. I tried logging in~~this site, like all the others, will not accept my password, although it acknowledges that my user name exists. Go figure... This am I received another e mail, telling me that the firm also operates the Puretimewatch.com website. I can't log in there, either. WTF? I have learned that the watch I ordered is coming from a legit dealer. I have learned that these folks are, at best, short on conversation, although good info is good info, notwithstanding. I received no word from then until I wrote them on 16 April asking for order confirmation or the refund of my payment. I have also learned that I have NO idea how I wound up at their website. My records indicate that the first time I visited either of them was yesterday (I placed the order on 12 April). I've been in the computer business for the past 20 years,so I suppose nothing should surprise me. That said, a great deal of angst could have been eliminated with speedier response from the dealer. And so it goes...

Just to follow you better: ---> WHO is "swift1688"?? i suggest thats NOT Gullivers Travels from Swift because that was BEFORE 1726... This am I received another e mail, telling me that the firm also operates the Puretimewatch.com website... ---> You are not trying to indicate that PT has something to do with implementing the "PP button" on WatchPolos site?? WTF? ---> at least something i understood from your comment George

I accessed his/her site through RWG directly and used the gmail addy provided here on RWG to correspond, my paypal was sent to a hotmail addy. "anny.....@hotmail.com" am I screwed? No, you are most decidedly NOT screwed. The addy you have paid to is Polo's correct addy. He will be very courteous and helpful to you. I am waiting to purchase something from him myself. I'm the guy who posted the info about the site hijack. BTW, the watch I received from WatchStation, which I had thought I ordered from Polo is teriffic. The only complaint is the Cyclops, which, I'm sure The Zigmeister can straighten out when he comes up for air in June.

Somehow, the link got crossed up (it does legitimately happen)and I wound up, VERY FORTUNATELY, at the site of a reputable dealer. I wonder if anyone else has had a similar and unnerving experience? I accessed the Polo website directly from the link on RWG. Not that that explains, defines or otherwise concludes anything. I'm VERY thanknful to have received the beautiful Zenith rep I ordered. Right out of the box, it is keeping time at +4 seconds PER DAY. Dumb luck on my part. Will post some photos when I can get out from under my current workload.
