chiman12 Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 The Tudor 9411 has always been one of my grail watches. I didn't want to buy a gen, fearing that they would be super-frankens and not the real deal. So I decided that I would eventually embark in building a fraken 9411 myself. But everything fell into place one day... I managed to source a gen dial, hands, and a tropic 125 from my new RWG friend Ubi (thank you sir!) I had a gen triplock tube/crown in my parts box, purchased a Yuki case, and sourced a 2793 from an old Titus and KAPOW!!! One of my simpler builds, because everything fit perfectly together!!! The dial has a slight patina to it, now all I have to do is vintage the case a bit. On to the pics... I actually don't like NATO straps, but the skunk strap in my parts box just might have found a home... Once again, I can't thank Ubi enough for making this project come true!!! He is truly a great guy to deal and to chat with!!! Thanks for looking guys!!!
vlydog Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Nicely done ChiMan12; beautiful timepiece! I thought that patina looked familiar.
TeeJay Posted April 21, 2010 Report Posted April 21, 2010 Very nice, I'm sure that'll be getting a lot of wrist time I'm not a fan of NATO straps myself, but that's precisely what my Snowflake project will be going on I think for this particular watch, with its military history, the NATO straps are the only way to go
redwatch Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Awesome job ChiMan! My all time favorite watch as well!
ubiquitous Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Looks fantastic! I love it when everything goes together as beautifully as this! Personally, I think I'd leave the case minty... Looks perfect as-is in my opinion...
HauteHippie Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Turned out great. First rate build! Curious, what is a 2793?
dluddy Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Looks great as is - agree with Ubi. leave the case clean
JohnCraig Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Kewl, nothing like a well done vintage rep. It has a certain elegance that nothing else touches. Wear it with pride!
eddog Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 Turned out great. First rate build! Curious, what is a 2793? I have a funny feeling that 2793 was supposed to have been written 2783... a the 8&9 are just next to each other after all... cheers Eddog
chiman12 Posted April 22, 2010 Author Report Posted April 22, 2010 Yikes! A typo...sorry chief!!! Yes it is a 2783...not a 2793... ...and thanks for the comments guys, but this project wouldn't have materialized without those parts from Ubi!!! A great person to deal with and an asset to this community!!
lhooq Posted April 22, 2010 Report Posted April 22, 2010 You're on a Tudor tear, ChiMan! Just beautiful!
FxrAndy Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 Very nice, i think the case will vintageize its self after a bit of wear, and i am sure it will get that.
panerai153 Posted April 24, 2010 Report Posted April 24, 2010 That's a great looking Tudor. I would just let the case vintagize with wear. It may take a little while, but it's always more realistic from my viewpoint.I think the "skunk" NATO looks really nice on this watch. Here is my "naturally vintagized 9411, one of my favorite watches.
