jkerouac Posted September 18, 2006 Report Posted September 18, 2006 You guys are getting me stoked for tomorrow. But what is the proper watch to wear on Talk Like a Pirate Day?.... A Seamaster? An Overseas? Certainly not a Yachtmaster, nor a Planet Ocean? Perhaps a Portugese or Royal Oak?

Everythingape Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 The prominent Pirates were the terrorists of their time.. Nations saw them as a threat to trade, politics and international alliances.. They killed people as they saw fit, for money, power and fame. And sometimes in the name of gods or nations. Now they are portrayed as romantic and noble men and women.. I wonder if in 200 years, we'll see "Bin Laden and the Shah's gold" featured in theatres.. Funny how time changes things..
Pugwash Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Arrr, apart from the fact Nanuq told the "Drivin' me nuts" and "Fetch me my brown trousers" jokes that I make a tradition of telling this time every year, I'll just slip into pirate-speak to explain what I'm wearing. "Arr, I've clapped a handsome Portuguese Man-O-War to me wrist. Sailin' a schooner in silver and gold on the High Double-you Seas."
jonthebhoy Posted September 19, 2006 Report Posted September 19, 2006 Anyway, today is also National Take Your Dog to Work Day.... I would have but for the fact that she's freakin hopeless at taking off quantities. She could have gone for me paper though. JTB
