Biker
Hi everybody out there..I'm new to RWG. I just bought a aftermarket Rolex Explorer II 1655 orange hand with 1570 movement. But I found the case back only stamp with "MONTRES ROLEX S.A. GENEVA SWITZERLAND STAINLESS STEEL 1655" that without the word "PATENTED". I understand that the case are not original..but I wondering that's the stamp correct or not. Hope somebody would help! thanks

watcher
Here is a pic of the case back and case from my gen 1978 EXP2. It has the 'patented' there.
stilty
interesting topic. Isn't this around the period when the patents expired? That is why the engravings are now ORIG. ROLEX DESIGN, and not REGISTERED DESIGN? Some 1655 were born while Rolex had the patent, and some not.
freddy333
The word 'Patent' appeared, fleetingly, on a number of models. I believe its absence, alone, should not be a cause for concern.
Dizzy
On the pic that Freddy posted, it almost looks like someone took a grinder and neatly removed the "patented" stamp. Interesting.. I could be wrong but thats sorta what it looks like
