Bike Mike Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Thought this might be fun...found this "Old School" tool in the my buddy's shop today while looking for some lathe collets. Who can name this watchmakers tool or guess what it is used for... We all know Z will know.
krpster Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Looks like a puller of some kind. Hand is too obvious so I'll say cannon pinion puller.
redwatch Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Agreed. Looks like an old Bergeon Cannon Pinion Remover I like this game!
maxman Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Fun post my man but I dont even know what a "lathe colleets" Is Im not 100% what the tool above Is so I will also go with pinion remover
Broker1981 Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Looks like something the MDs used to use for old-school chlamydia tests...
KB Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 That's a thingymajig, it's used to massage the watchsmiths aching neck. Would I lie? Ken
redwatch Posted September 4, 2010 Report Posted September 4, 2010 Actually it's a De Grippling pin. It's found in the same section of the hardware store as a Round Square....
Bike Mike Posted September 5, 2010 Author Report Posted September 5, 2010 Red and Krpster are correct...Cannon Pinion puller it is....next time I will have to find some thing a little harder.
cornerstone Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 While we're waiting on Bike Mike's next round, here's one from the archives... Who remembers the suggested watch repair use for this tool
HauteHippie Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Definitely a Johnson Pallet Peen.
krpster Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 What do I win! What do I win! Hockey puck = crystal press
cornerstone Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Yes, crystal press / vintanging tool / smasher was "right" The other part of that 'mod' was hitting it hard with a hammer of course. NB For the uninitiated, this was a joke. For another trip down memory lane, if this suddenly arrived by mail from China, what's the most likely explanation and what should you do?
Utheman Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Obviously, you should cut open the head to see if there is something inside....
maxman Posted September 5, 2010 Report Posted September 5, 2010 Obviously, you should cut open the head to see if there is something inside.... Whoomp there It Is
cornerstone Posted September 6, 2010 Report Posted September 6, 2010 Obviously, you should cut open the head to see if there is something inside.... Ah, happy days! I'll let Bike Mike get back to his 'real' tools
Bike Mike Posted October 6, 2010 Author Report Posted October 6, 2010 New tool for 10/5/10: Been a while, but finally found one in the shop because I needed it! Any guess what tool this may be with the main spring?
P4GTR Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 it looks like a sex toy That sounds painful. I wonder if Offshore has a few of these to go with his "pressure machine".
krpster Posted October 6, 2010 Report Posted October 6, 2010 Tough one. My only guess would be a tool to help bend (coil) the end of the main spring for the arbour.
Bike Mike Posted October 6, 2010 Author Report Posted October 6, 2010 Tough one. My only guess would be a tool to help bend (coil) the end of the main spring for the arbour. You would think...but maybe I put the main spring in there as a distraction! Anyone else?
