Mapman57
Thanks to all who gave their opinion on the choice of insert and bezel assembly.........it was quite a split opinion! So I am going with - Alligoat's idea to fit the bleached insert into the 'old' bezel.........and to fit the newer Gen insert into the new bezel - swap as I see fit! - and an even more popular view - get a vintage pearl (Yuki?)for the Gen insert and retro fit it in! I also had some feedback on the CG's and I will be lowering them a touch and taking a little more off the outside faces. This insert actually snaps in the bezel but has a little bend around the '40' marker as can be just seen - I might glue it down! And why do the gen lug pins always pop through one side and not through the other (internal spring compression I expect?) So here's a few shots of the reassembled watch .....starting with CG's and the Clark 127 profile.......with wristies and finally the 93150 bracelet, clasp and 580 end links.... Thanks again to Cuschochris and Mack for all their help during the project..... Happy days!!!!

alligoat
Nice pic PM! Look how well worn the bezel and crown are. Obviously that watch has never been to an RSC! Either that or it got caught in a Sahara dust storm.
panerai153
It looks great. I like the aged insert, it seems to really go together with the 1680's. It's supposed to be a 40 year old watch, so it should show it's age, gracefully.
highoeyazmuhudee
old thread i just discovered... looks good, a couple questions tho whose case is that? and whose bracelet/endlinks are those?

highoeyazmuhudee
Looks like Puretime bracelet and endlinks. that was my assumption hows the double link that connects the bracelet to the end link Dizz? is it a closed double loop or can it be pryed open/apart unlike the gen? I agree with you guys that it looks great...but if you look at the 40 year old 1680s on the Bay most of them look new with the exception of a little patina on the lume. I just can't bring myself to "whack" my 1680 with a wrench. Edited April 30, 2011 by preacher62
freddy333
Looks good. I would try to square-up the lower/inner corners of the CGs though. Inside the CGs, where the vertical planes meet the horizontal plane, the corners are too round & they should be more angular. Check out some gens & you will see what I mean. Mapman57
old thread i just discovered... looks good, a couple questions tho whose case is that? and whose bracelet/endlinks are those? I was surprised to see this resurface as well. Thanks for the feedback all Highoey - case is puretime 1680; bracelet links and endlinks are also puretime; clasp is a hybrid I put together from parts to give 93150 markings and smooth flip lock on outside. I can check the the end link tube config out for you if you still need to know? Freddy - comment and advice on CG's noted - thanks. I have since; had the eta 2846 movement serviced sealed and tested to 7ATM seated the insert ad fitted a vintage acrylic pearl.......... Been my daily this week.
