Case back opener

I was wondering if I could get away with just buying the 29.5 mm die and use chopsticks to open rolex casebacks??? :whistling:

Is there really a need for other sizes? I want to open my 16610, and maybe 5513s, 1665s and vintage daytonas later on.

Also, what do you guys think of using the crab claw for panerai case backs? or should I just invest in the die?

Thanks.

I bought one of those Bergeon caseback remover sets on ebay about 4 years ago. Its been one of the most valuable tools on my workbench and worth the investment.

dizz

I did the same but mine must be one of the low quality one. max 20 opening with it and 29.5 is screwed up... I need a new tool btw

The first one I bought was the Bergeon..but it was a knockoff and like yours, the 29.5 slips (You can buy genuine replacement dies from Ofrei though).

I scored a genuine new in the box LG Openall for 28$ on the bay, and it works pefectly with no slippage.

I highly recommend the Watch Bitz 29.5 die. Why take a chance on shady eBay sellers, when Offshore definitely carries the right one? As soon as you've opened your first Oyster caseback with the proper tool (sure, chopsticks should work as the lever), you'll be hoooked.

I believe the "False Bergeon Set" was forged by The Adversary himself.

Last time I looked... the Watch Bitz 29.5 die was out of stock, but I see they have it now. It's half the price of the bergoen at Ofrei's so I will order one.

The LG's dies mate fine on the newer range rolex's, but I noticed last night that they seemed a tad small on my new 5512 and 1680 from josh.

Hope the Watch Bitz fits better.
