hoya1999 Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 I'm somewhat of a rookie when it comes to watches, and I'm looking for a little help/advice. I'm a big guy with a big wrist, and currently have a Panerai Luminor Marina; I enjoy this watch because it is so large, shiny, and heavy. I'm currently looking for a new watch, something that is similar in size and weight to my Panerai. I am looking to get either an IWC or Franck Muller...any suggestions? Thanks!

Get a Fiddy have a look at the 47mm 1950 style cases, they are quite substantial with excellent wrist presence, and a certain utilitarian charm. IWC make the Big Pilot, which comes in a few sizes, but sounds to me you're looking for a Breitling Super Avenger. Thick case, thick bracelet, should do the trick

Jkay Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Panerai model 127 or 217, issued in 2002, limited to 1950 pieces. Replicates classic Panny style with pillow shaped case and dome crystal. Looks to sell for about $23k now.
BGGodwin Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Other than the Fiddy, Deep Sea Sea Dwellers are heavy-duty watches (43 mm and weigh half a ton) or Breitlings are typically big watches
stolikat Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 PAM 187. Chunky. A7753 version is rumored to be released in the next couple of months...
jchurch Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Small watches are where its at. Here it is with my SOSF.
maxman Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Some very nice examples so far,Im another Super Avenger fan,the new ones are on a proper pro2 bracelet, very nice.
LeSentier Posted April 17, 2011 Report Posted April 17, 2011 Would also consider an AP ROO Chrono - light dials make a watch look bigger then black dark ones
JKDDUDE Posted April 18, 2011 Report Posted April 18, 2011 hoya -- Go with the Big Pilot, man. I got one three days ago and its already gotten more compliments than any other watch Iv'e ever had..
clinterik Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 Small watches are where its at. Here it is with my SOSF. Great Graham Watch... Yes that is definitely a small watch How do you like it? I was thinking about buying the one with the Carbon Fiver Bezel.
wolfwood Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 I have the Chronofighter Diver Seal Tech CF face with a 7/7.5" wrist and it looks really nice! I don't even have the issue of the crown guard scratching my wrist since I wear it a little loose. go for it if you like big heavy flashy watch!
jchurch Posted April 22, 2011 Report Posted April 22, 2011 I like it. I wear all of my watches fairly tight. The Graham looks tighter because of the angle I had to have it at to get the wrist photo. (large camera and lens also) I don't wear it near as much as I wear the SOSF though that one is like my favorite...
