1680
Hello, could anyone explain me, how a 2836 can get converted into a slow beat movement? I read, that someone did that, but couldn't find any infos. Thanks
sneed12
Drop in a 2846. "Converting" one isn't really doable. You'd need a new balance wheel and new geartrain.
1680
I know using a 2846 would be the easiest solution. But I have a nive 2836 which needs to be serviced anyway and I haven't found a 2846 for under 100€ yet.
sneed12
There are two on eBay right now for ~$
alligoat
That would be $40 plus a service! Stilty is the guy who knows how to convert and from a previous email he sent me, it basically sounds like it's a matter of ordering the right 2846 parts and making the conversion. But this might be a project for a watchmaker if you have to ask! So then you're back to what sneed said- buy a used 2846 and have it serviced. 1680
I know, but they maybe need a service too. And is the 2836 datewheel the same as the 2846 dw? Because I have the right silver dw on my current ETA movement.

highoeyazmuhudee
it neednt be a 2846, there about a dozen or so other compatible calibers of superior build and price that are low beat.
cougaree
Can I assume the 2846 is the same movement beating in automatic Swatch watch? Thanks!
sneed12
The Swatch caliber was the 2842, not the same. That movement has a lot of cost saving corners cut on it.

But I have a nive 2836 which needs to be serviced anyway and I haven't found a 2846 for under 100€ yet. I have been posting that William S. McCaw Co. has new 2846s for $57.97. I have one in my 5512. Call 1-800-537-0343 and ask for Pete. The one I bought was brand new. I don't know if they are a current build item or not. The rep dealers say no...but this company tells me that they keep them in stock. http://www.mccawcompany.com/
1680
Hi, I knew your link. Are these movements like plug'n play? I'll send them an email, hope they send to Europe.
