Building myself a 1665

I've gone the gen bracelet and ends route before, but is it worth it? I can pick up nice bracelet with 585 ends. I'm just not sure if I should do it.

While I know that it's no where near correct, I really liked the yuki solid midlink bracelet. I'd go with that and save the money for other gen items (bezel,dial,crystal,crown,etc...)

Best advice: get a cheap 93150 hollow midlinks, put it in a double bagged setup with a slurry of abrasive liquid, toss it in the dryer on "fluff" and run it a few hours to loosen it up. Then enjoy the silky aged feel.

there is none. this is what the "PT factory" seems to be shipping as the 93150 now

official response "they dont make that style anymore" more or less a waste of money. maybe jmb could re-engrave some 93150 on those ends ?? and the use of the shorter screws that dont fit all the way through the link due to the crappy metal used causing them to break off in the hole. solution shorten the screws = less tension. HAH. re engrave the end, pair it with a gen clasp and bracelet links from a proper bracelet. but if youre doing all that why buy it in the first place? theres nothing left but shatty metal, 580 endlinks and the endlink bracelet connector..which is also incorrect.

What do you use for an abrasive liquid?

Try SofScrub, a liquid kitchen cleanser. Or if you want to maximize the results get some Flitz metal polish paste, work it into the links thoroughly and then flex and bend the bracelet VIGOROUSLY while twisting it along its long axis. That torques the joints so they make tight contact with their adjoining links and as you flex it, the paste and pressure just eat the metal in the joints. This works GREAT on Yuki's 7206 too.

When done it will be loose and silky, then you'll probably want to re-brush it, as the polishing paste will polish the links too. Then oil it up and enjoy.

uh no. the factory changed the product for what ever stupid reason. they shortened the screws so they wouldnt break off when changing out links like so many did. and the end stamp is incorrect at 93250. clasp is also missing the indent but that is a smaller problem. end links remain the same.

Compared to my wm9 bracelet, the PT 93250 ones I got with my case set have a distinct cheaper quality steel feeling and construction. I don't like them personally.

Marty, I'd say it depends on what the rest of the formula is going to be. If you're talking a high quality case, like a J&W, and a gen dial then I'd round it out with a gen bracelet. 585s are hard to find and not cheap when you do. So if you've found a good deal, I say take it.

I managed to get hold of a gen 93150 from 1978 with 580 end pieces and put it on my MBW Great White 1665. I don't know if it's psychological, but it makes the whole watch feel more gen.
