Rolex 6263 Daytona

Akira

Recommended Posts

Today I finally found the time to upload the pics I made from my Daytona 6263.

It's a DW Val23 version I bought off Silverspeed.

Beautiful watch and comfortable size :)

I ain't the best photographer and don't have the best cam or equipment unfortunately :( .....

......but I'm quite happy with the results :) Well, at least with some shots.

Congrats, Akira! It's a beautiful example! :v:

If you're thinking about upgrades, I would start with a genuine Tropic 21. Then follow that up with a different bracelet: Even a Yuki 7835 would be a big improvement over DW's. (The clasp on the coronet ruins my day.) Also, a genuine 703 crown would make the whole watch look and feel much better.

Does a gen 21 plexi and gen 703 crown fit without modification?

I used an aftermarket tube with a genuine crown. To fit a gen or gen-sized crystal, you'll need to sand the inner diameter of the bezel by around 0.2-0.3mm, if I recall correctly.

Well, I mess up the keyless works everytime  so I won't be modding anything myself.

Would you kindly advise which aftermarket tube you bought?

Maybe after I finished the 1675 Franken project, I may have time and money to search parts for the 6263.

Thanks a lot for the info guys :)

Like LHOOQ says, even with the J&K crystal, you'll have to sand the inside of the bezel because the crystal is correct, but DW's crystal and bezel are a little too small on the OD of the crystal and the ID of the bezel- chinese engineering. The yuki tube and 703 crown should be fine, but it's always a good idea to run the 3.0mm x .35mm tap thru the case hole before you try to screw in the tube. You also need the case tube wrench for installing the case tube- just another $35 tool, kinda like the tap (unless you can find the tap for less at a machine parts distributor.

Hey alligoat,

thanks for you input....but I did not understand a word

Honestly I did not even think about how to mount this parts...I just bought them.

I have a couple of tools, but not really a clue how to use them.

Do you think those mods are possible without much modding experience?

Cheers

Akira,

When I get the tube taps I will take pictures(Hopefully this weekend) I am working on installing similar parts to a case similar to yours, though your watch is way better looking.

You can definitely do this if you're careful. Measure twice,or thrice, and cut once sort of speak. The crystal you can always do last.

Make sure all sealing surfaces are cleaned and lubed where possible and install the crown and bracelet. You will be alright.

Hello fellow Daytona lovers :)

Gen crown, Yuki tube and J&K crystal arrived.

So I thought "Well, what the heck...open it up and take a look."

So I did

Next step. The thing I am afraid of the most  Messing up the keyless...

...but I hope not this time :)

Remove dial and movement from the case

J&K tropic looks excellent :)

So here I am....I need your help :D

I guess the topic will fit the case plexi ring without mods.

The inner bezelring needs to me sanded a little...ok.

I have no experience in removing and replacing the tube, nor do I have the tools

So which tools would I need?

Or...who can change the tube for me and how much would it cost?

I'm located in Germany :)

Lemme know what you guys think

Cheers

And here is the update.

After hours of sanding, fitting, sanding, pressing, sanding and fitting again....I managed to make the T21 fit the bezel :victory:

Great success for a newbie like myself :thumbsupsmileyanim:

The new plexi really is an improvement to DW's...due the process I managed to get some authentic dings and scratches in the plexi  So doesn't look that new afterall ;)

Next step is the crown/tube.

Does anyone know if DW's tubes are threaded in?

Cheers

Different screwdriver did the job...who would have thought?

So now is there a tutorial how to get in the Yuki tube?

Looks really good Akira. Hey, if you are not planning on using the old tube and crown, I will buy those from you for a project. Unfortunately I have not been able to get the pusher install as I got dicked with a set of pushers.

The watch is coming out awesome. Don't forget to brush finish the edge of the bezel as per LHOOQ's thread.
