redwatch Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Well I think I got pretty lucky anyways Today I won a bid for a lot of ETA movements which includes: 3-4 17J movments 2846 1 21J movment 1 2824 movement 1 2834 frame 16+ 2836 movements in gold and a couple in silver with etching and blued screws Considering what I won it for ($170.00 USD), I think I did pretty good. Of course not all of the movements will work, but I am pretty confident that I will be able to service/repair most of them Of course, there is always the possibility that I got scammed, but I feel pretty good about this one.
redwatch Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 At the very least, good for parts! Exactly my thought. Just for complete balance framework for an ETA 2836 from Ofrei is $46 for one piece!!! I figure if I get three or four good working 2836's, one good 2846 and use the parts from the 2824 to fix up one I have here, I will be a happy camper
asf Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 oh hot damn. me thinks you were going for the 2836's
AsiadeCuba Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 nice pick up red. you're on a roll with picking up that gen blue tag. i had my eye on that. you have any watches ready to take on any of those movements?
redwatch Posted August 17, 2011 Author Report Posted August 17, 2011 I have a few little projects that have been "sitting around" for a while
odourboy Posted August 17, 2011 Report Posted August 17, 2011 Damn, that's a good score +1 !! Nice catch!
lhooq Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 Nice one, red! I expect every one of these to be in frankens exactly one year from now. ...and GO!
Ephry73 Posted August 18, 2011 Report Posted August 18, 2011 Aha! So you're the one! Haha. I was eyeing that auction. Cannot beat the deal. Good one for sure. E
redwatch Posted August 23, 2011 Author Report Posted August 23, 2011 Looks like I'm going to be a little busy for a while They look to be in good shape and I will definitely be able to make a few working movements out of this lot for sure! The slow beat 2846's look good
drury Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 wonder why I never find any good deals on eBay ...
redwatch Posted August 23, 2011 Author Report Posted August 23, 2011 Well first successful repair. Took a movement that had most of the drive train missing and removed the auto winding mechanism off of it. Transplanted that to my wife's new Rolex Turn-O-Graph that i built for her and it works like a champ!
Ephry73 Posted August 23, 2011 Report Posted August 23, 2011 AWESOME! I may hit you up later for spares. At a fare price of course E
