Where to get a gen Rolex movement screw?

Hey there,

my wife´s gen GMT Master makes noise when winding. And I think I found what´s causing this.

It seems one of the movement screws is too big. At least the head sticks out too much. Everytime the rotor touches this screw, it makes noise and sometimes the rotor stops. Please see the pics below. Especially the last one. There you can see the thickness of the screw-head.

Does anybody knows where to get a replacement? Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks a lot in advance

Yes, looks like a wrong screw there.

Here is an other movement and you can clearly see it is kind of sunken.

Can't you trade it with an other screw in the movement. Looks like it could be a screw used to fix the movement in the case. Maybe someone changed them by accident.

I saw you read the info...having a difficult day with bad movements, my comments were excited, so I removed them.

Good luck with the repair, and get a new watchmaker, a good one. :)

I understand. If you're interested, I could tell you the whole story via PM.

And thanks for the links. But I try to avoid gen foras. Too much nose high there. ;)

I'll bet you can find the correct screw somewhere on or in the movement. He probably put the small headed one somewhere else and didn't want to go back and change it.

No, the movement was missing some screws.

So I gave it to a watchmaker and he puts in the one I've posted.

I will see what size screw it is. If I have one, I can send it to you...if not, I will send you the specs of the screw and maybe you can find one.

Give me a day or two.

The auto bridge screws are available from Cousins and Jules Borel.

That screw should be recessed. As an aside, I replaced one with a DG screw before which was a perfect fit.

Here are the sizes of the screw needed:

screw head diameter 1.4mm (a fraction less will work)

screw head thickness .35mm

overall length 1.7mm

screw thread diameter .78mm

If you can not find a replacement, I can send one.

If you find one, run it in carefully to make sure the threads match. It is a common thread for screws this size.
