Nothing much, I put a bear bell on the dog and leave my phone on in my pocket (so it can be located). Other than that just pay attention to what's all around and no worries. I believe that unless you surprise a bear by walking up on it while it's distracted, that they normally just run away on their own as soon as they hear you coming. That's the purpose of a bear bell. It also pays to be able to recognise bears by their droppings, black bear stools look like the one above and often contain berries and small animal bones. Poplar bear stools are much lager and contain bells and smell of pepper..... Anyway....they are lovely pic's of the snowflake nanuq.
