jmb Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 I need to get banned from fleabay because I just can't resist a nice gen DJ dial! I had finally gotten my watch box under control and I found this so I'll need to put something else up on the block if I decide to keep it... :-\ I used a sample "later model" case I had ordered from my parts guy for this one since I had not used this style before. The markings between the lugs are nice as well as inside the case back and it has what I think is referred to as the "dome" bezel. I'm still a bit undecided about the bezel but it may grow on me. This case is for a 2836 movement so it's profile is not quite as slim as the cases meant for 2824 movements but still looks nice. This has rehaut engraving, which I generally don't like, but things line up fairly well so I may leave it alone. Since taking these pics I have finely brushed the tops of the lugs since I'm not overly fond of polished lugs. If I decide to keep this I'll probably order the "correct" style SEL bracelet and clasp Here's a couple of pics: 1
Cats Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Certainly not an expert but i like it a lot. Wear it well Carpe Diem Cats
redwatch Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Beauty dial! And it sure does line up very nicely with the rehaut engraving! Nice find!!! The polished lugs do look a little odd though. Was there a version like that?
jmb Posted November 15, 2011 Author Report Posted November 15, 2011 I don't know if the polished lugs were "proper" for anything but I'm not a fan and they are now brushed.
danielv2000 Posted November 15, 2011 Report Posted November 15, 2011 Beautiful watch, J. What color is that dial? Its lovely. Enjoy
jmb Posted November 16, 2011 Author Report Posted November 16, 2011 It's silver with a slight patina. I really like the markers, never seen this kind before:
AsiadeCuba Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 dj will always be a classic. what case did you use?
TeeJay Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 That looks really nice, J That style of bezel is best paired with the presidential bracelet, and I've seen those shaped markers on vintage DJ dials, they do look really sharp
alligoat Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 (edited) Lol, I've got either the same dial or a similar one on my franken I figure my dial is from the early 80's, and my case is a 16014. My dial is silver and faded to beige. Edited November 16, 2011 by alligoat
jmb Posted November 16, 2011 Author Report Posted November 16, 2011 M, they do look very similar. The case is a rep case.
alligoat Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 Yep, JB, and it looks like your dial is in better shape than mine!
HauteHippie Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 The DJ Meister strikes again! Nice one, J!
jmb Posted November 16, 2011 Author Report Posted November 16, 2011 The DJ Meister strikes again! Nice one, J! Thanks, Chief. The more I look at it, though, the more I see it belongs in a vintage type case. Someday when I get caught up...
cjjoyce1 Posted November 16, 2011 Report Posted November 16, 2011 Love the dial! The markers are definitely unique. My silver with gold marker has markers that look like that from front on, but from the side are angle cut like a barn roof. Very nice (and glad to read you brushed the lugs - they were a bit distracting in my book)
