How to: Reliable Sec @ 6 w/Naning 3836 Daytona

Ronin

Recommended Posts

First, if you have not read this: http://www.rwg.cc/to...nds-6-movement/ -- Read it.

I pulled this off the back burner, hell bent on:

1.) Freezing a Center Seconds, 3 & 9 Subdials, for what could be a reliable Center Seconds Daytona. (But non-working chrono, so appearance only)

What I found, and it can be done....

CAUTION - Working on this movement requires a similar skill set to working on a 7750. The Auto-Winding assembly was never really meant to be disassembled on this otherwise 'disposable' movement.

Pics to explain it all:

i just saw yesterday an Daytona with running Sec at 6 - and a lot of APs :notworthy: at Domis workplace -

i can say that he found now an working cure for this movements - has nothing to do with tha fix

that Francesco posted some years ago.

the Daytone had a power reserve form nearly 3 days - super smooth sec hand an healty beat rate.

cheers,

Frank

Ronin...

Thanks for the pictures! They make it much easier to understand.

"I have Roberts Daytona and it's running flawlessly, each day though the hand at 3 & 9 move, I guess that was for the day date feature on the 21j, I just reset it each day back to zero..."

The subdial hands at 3 and 9 are easy to freeze while the dial is off. The modification to your watch may have been done by freezing only the center sweep hand from the back without removing the H, M, subdial hands, and dial. If you do it this way, all you have to do is what is shown in Ronin's pictures.

The watch I modified is still running fine and probably has around 2000 hours on it by now. I even loaned it out a few times...maybe I could start Rent-a-Watch and get rich!

Rats. First Watch Leasing dotcom beat me to it.

"I've had my Daytona seconds at 6 for more than 3 years. No fix. It still works flawlessly. Talk about luck!"

A friend wore a sec at 6 A7750 most of the time for about 3 years with no trouble before he lost the crown and stem out of it. He hardly ever ran the chrono timer though.

I guess it's the luck of the draw. :pimp:

Why would you do all this work if you could buy a Daytona with frozen hand and running second @ 6

Well, Bob, why do people climb mountains? ;)

Great tut, Ronin, I always wanted to iknow what this movement was made like but not enough to actually tear it apart! Thanks for satidfying my curiosity.

  • 3 years later...

FINALLY!!! I came across this tutorial!!! Thank you automatico and Ronin for the input!!!!  I am looking for days on the net for this Mod....

The chinese movement is called DG3836P and can be found easily on the net. Cost around 30$... So no much waste if it does not work the first time:-)
