irolexu
Man that's expensive you might as well save and get you a genuine sub all together
alligoat
I don't know, if you find a movement for $1500 and an old tritium dial for under $500, you're in for $3600 which ain't bad.

I was thinking the same but it has no bracelet another $600-800, may as well buy a Gen
gavidoc
Actually not too bad for a complete case. Consider a mid case and case back will run around 900 without bezel, crystal, or retaining ring.
irolexu
The only issue I see on spending 3600 for a sub is that it won't be 100% original to itself when I've seen and know of subs that are late model and are priced at 4300 dollars. I got a buddy who has a Z serial for 4800
AsiadeCuba
yeah factoring in the other parts, its better to go gen. especially if the year is 1991. unless you like building gen projects
clkcadet
If the projected price is $3600, you know it will come out to more with costs you dont expect to pay. A complete gen, you can find in the low $4k area. Just keep looking, and you are bound to find a deal on a recent model. I am talking about 5-6 years old (so hopefully it has been serviced already to save you some cash)

I bought my gen matte dial 16800 with 93150 bracelet last nov. for $3500.
GarrettP1
Take a look at the 16610 case at Star Time. I purchased one; it appears to be 1:1 with the gen ($169), and it certainly takes gen parts. Phong just engraved a 1991 serial number on it for me. I think you'll come out ahead on your project (cost wise) with theirs.

GarrettP1
Woof, the only thing it's missing is the stamping on the inside of the case back. And so far, I haven't found anyone who can do that for a reasonable fee (one quote was for $400). I guess I won't be opening up the case back to show people. cib0rgman
Google Star Time Watch parts How do this one compare to Sean or TC cases these ones also take Genuine part can can house a Gen movement.
GarrettP1
To be fair I haven't handled a Sean or TC case. Hopefully someone more experienced that I am can do that comparison. I don't mean to be unhelpful on this; what I appreciate is how much help everyone in this forum contributes. There is a thread on RG about this too, with some photo's and measurements I took of the case I purchased (the photo's are of poor quality). You can search my screen name over there and find it. Curt was kind enough to host the pictures. Garrett
