irolexu
Just bought a genuine 16030 non quickset transitional era rose gold two tone datejust. As I understand the newer 16030 has a 3035 so just curious if any experts here can tell me what movement is in my watch! Thanks and pics will follow soon tonight! I just got this on my lunch break when I saw it at a pawn shop I just had to have it.
Original Scope
If it is a non quick set it would be a 1570. Congrats and bring on the pics!

irolexu
Pics! and weird story but when I was a lot younger this is one of the first rolex's I ever handled and got to actually inspect. Some guy at a mall was trying to sell this watch to my mom for her to give to me (she obviously did not want me having one at a young age ) He was telling my mom at the time that rose gold two tone datejust were pretty rare (I have no idea if this is true or not). The watch really really (and yes it was creepy) stood out in such a familiar fashion as if I obviously have "met" this watch before and keep in mind I had no idea I was going to ever see this watch again and now I own it. That is an amazing feeling to own something I crossed paths with and really wanted at the time 10+ years ago.
DeeKa
I think either you were wrong with the reference or you got a Franken. The ref. 160xx were introduced in 1977 with the new movement 3035 so all 5-digit DJs have quickset - that was the new selling point! 4-digit DJs had the 1575 movement, but not the 1570 which ewas used in Subs, Ex1 etc. 16030 has a machine turned steel bezel while our bezel is the fluted one from the 1601/1601x models... w.genzo
Might be a 1603 with 1570 movement, which could be correct. 1575 has a hacking feature vs. 1570, no hacking feature, you could do a try. Many 1575s have 1570-marked winding bridges, though
alligoat
If it has a pie pan dial it's a 1601 DJ (1603) and if the dial is flat it would be a 16030/3035 quickset.

I'm not sure, I've seen 1603 with flat dial, his looks like this one..
irolexu
The case is no doubt stamped 16030..with a 1570 confirmed by my watch maker. Maybe I'll trade it if anyone has a wm9.... might consider! Or I'll just drop everything in a 1603 case problem solved!

superlative
Holy Franken! A 16030 two-tone with a 1570 movement and a newer dial? You payed wayyyyy too much! A 16030 should be all stainless steel with engine-turned bezel and 3035 quick-set movement. A two-tone would be the 16013 with 3035 as well. Your watch was made from 3 different DateJust eras: 1960 (bracelet), 1970 (movement) and 1980 (case, bezel, dial). For under $2k, you could've gotten an original 16030. irolexu
It's for sale now I'll let the movement go or the whole watch go. If I can get the movement sold I can slap a 2836 and have me a nice Franken!
